By enriching an ePaper we mean adding additional content or media elements. On each page of the ePaper you can add the following media elements:

Links to other websites, E-Mail addresses, internal links to other ePaper pages or Videos. The procedure for all kinds of additional content is the same. Either click on the gear icon settings of ePaper in the kiosk view and select the point enrich ePaper from the context menu, or open by clicking on the image of the ePaper first page with the ePaper details and select the action enrich ePaper. You are directed to the page from which you can make the enrichments. The individual media elements themselves are explained in more detail later in this chapter.

2.1 Adding a Media Element on a Page

In the dark gray area at the top of this page all the ePaper pages are shown in a thumbnail view. Select this by clicking the page of the ePaper were you want to add content. The document page is displayed in the main area. On the right side of the main area you can find the button media element.

Once you click this button with the mouse, you can determine the type of enrichment via the context menu. Select a link to another web page or an email address to add the link option. To embed a video in ePaper, click the option to add video. Select the option add internal link if you want to link to another page in the ePaper.

Depending on the type of media element a form opens in which you can specify a title and description text or add an URL. Once you have your data stored, the additional content is available in ePaper. All the added media elements on a page are displayed in the main pane on the right. You can edit a media item by clicking next to the title on the pencil icon. To delete an entry click on the trash icon. The navigation bar on the enrichment page on the Site is at the top of the ePaper. Again, you can by clicking on my ePaper, in the left navigation to return to the kiosk view. By clicking on the title of the ePaper, in the navigation or in the main area of the page and clicking on the blue button to return to the document, you will be guided back to the page with the ePaper details. You can always open the preview of ePaper on the preview button.

2.2. Posting a Link or an Email Address

To add a link or an email address, click on the media element and select Add Link from. Now fill in the form that appears. Enter the link address field the full URL to the website, which is to be opened (e.g. http://www.example.com). A full URL always requires the specification of the protocol (http:// or https://).

If you want to link an e-mail address, however, enter the email address in the field Link address. Put the HTML tag mailto: before this e-mail address, i.e. in the form mailto:foo@example.com. If this enrichment is later clicked by a reader in ePaper, the default email application will open on the computer of the reader and he may contact the address easily.

In target window, you can specify in which browser window the link is to be opened: a new one, in the same one or in the parent window or tab. If you specify a title, it will be displayed in the Page 15 of 36

media box. You can also select an icon that is displayed next to the title in the media box, such as the symbol for a link. The description text is displayed when the reader moves the mouse over the item in the media box or the scope of the element in the ePaper. You can also set whether the additional content should be displayed only in the media box, just over a frame or both in the media box as well as a framework.

2.3. Positioning a Frame

For any additional content you add to an ePaper page, you can define a clickable area on this page (= frame). Frames are highlighted in gray for the reader, as soon as you move the mouse over it. By clicking on this area, external links or videos are opened, or the specified page of the ePaper is browsed .

To position a frame, select in the add-form either the option only in frame or Mediabox and frame.

A frame is displayed on the page in the main area of the ePaper. Click in the center of the frame and hold down the mouse button to drag the frame to the desired location on the page and then release the mouse button.

You can adjust the frame to size by clicking the small rectangles along the edge of the frame and drag it to the desired size.

Once you save your settings, the respective additional content can be reached via the frame of the ePaper. You can check this behavior in the ePaper preview.

2.4. Adding a Video

You can add Youtube videos to any ePaper page but also videos in Flash, .flv format and Mp4 format. flv and mp4 files have to be already stored on an external web server and accessed via the Internet. Before you include Flash videos, please consider that they can not be played on iPhone and iPad. It therefore makes sense to create mp4 video in the following format, so that the mobile devices such as iPhone and iPad can play the videos.:

H.264 video: up to 720p, 30 frames per second, Main Profile level 3.1 with AAC-LC audio up to
160 kbit / sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4 and .mov MPEG.4 video: Up to 2.5 Mbit /sec, 640 x 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 kbit / sec, 48 Khz, stereo audio in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov Motion JPEG (M-JPEG): Up to 35 Mbit / sec, 1280 x 720 pixels, 30 frames per second, audio in ulaw format, PCM stereo audio in .avi format. In order that mp4 videos can be played by as many mobile devices, it has been proven to be useful in the creation or conversion to comply with the Apple video specifications for the iPhone or the iPad. To add a video, click the button media element and select the option add video. Now fill out the form that appears.

The easiest way is to integrate a Youtube video in ePaper. Open the YouTube page with the desired video in your browser. Highlight the page's URL in the address bar of your browser and save it to the clipboard. Then paste the URL in the video link field in the video form of the ePaper.

You can also specify the short link for the youtube in the box video link. This is displayed when you click on the YouTube page at a video on the sharing tab.

If you select the Embed option under the Share tab, the embed code is displayed instead of the short link. By its attributes, you can read the minimum width (width) and the minimum height (height) of the video. You can also use the URL that is displayed in the src attribute between the quotation marks in the video link field of ePaper.

If you want to use a flash or .mp4 video in the ePaper, you must enter the full URL in the video link box on the video on the Internet is accessible. In the Width and Height fields, you can specify (in pixels) the size in which the video is accessible in ePaper be displayed. For YouTube videos, it is at this point advisable to enter the values from the Youtube Embed code, which means the values of the width and height attributes.

Just as for links and e-mail addresses, you can also specify a title and a descriptionfor each video using the form. Below the option use you can determine how the reader can open the video in ePaper. Once you save the form, the video is available in the ePaper preview.

2.5. A link to Another Page to Add ePaper (Internal Link)

Another media element is a link to another ePaper page or an internal link. So if you want to link from a page in your ePaper on another page of the same ePaper, you can use internal links.

To add an internal link, click the media item and select the option add internal link from the context menu. Then fill out the form. A list of all pages of the ePaper opens once you click the page field with the mouse. In this form you can specify an icon, title and description. You can also set the options under Use how reader can trigger the action of the leaves in the ePaper.

3. Creating a Directory (Table of Contents)

For each ePaper you can create a table of contents. There you can specify an entry for each page. The reader can open the table of contents of the ePaper via the Content button. By clicking on an entry in the table of contents the ePaper scrolls to the corresponding page. Thus, you allow the reader an easy navigation and a good topic overview.

To create a table of contents, click the kiosk view either on the gear icon of ePaper and choose the point table of contents from the context menu, or click on the image of the ePaper to open the page with the ePaper details and select the action accumulate ePaper. From there you will get to the page on which you can create the table of contents of each ePaper.

In order that a page in the table of contents is displayed, you only need to specify a title for the page in the list. Just click on the line of the page and enter the title. You can also, independently of the title, leave a brief description for each page. Finally, you can determine how far an entry is to be indented to the right in the display of the table of contents. Thus, you can visually divide the table of contents,. There are 4 levels of indentation possible. At level 1, that the entry is not indented. Level 4 sets the highest level of indentation. To change a level, click in the column indentation for that side of the existing entry, and select the desired level from the menu. Once you save the contents, you can control it in the preview ePaper.

The short description of a page is displayed in ePaper when you move the mouse over an entry in the table of contents or when you move the mouse over a page in the pageoverview of the ePaper.

The following should be noted in connection with the contents yet. When you create or modify a table of contents for an already published ePaper, you must publish the ePaper after saving again, so that it is updated for your readers, not just in the preview. In addition, the contents in the ePaper-Settings must be activated (default: ON). More about the ePaper settings in the next chapter.

4. The ePaper Settings

In the ePaper settings you can specify which of the possible functions in ePaper should be available to your readers. You can also change the title and the language setting of the ePaper. Open the settings either by choosing the Kiosk view and clicking the gear icon in the ePaper Settings option from the context menu or choose the action Settings from the detail view of the ePaper.

4.1 Changing the Title of the ePaper

You can change the title of the ePaper in the field titles. Simply enter the new title. If you have created a new ePaper, all available functions of the ePaper are enabled by default. Whether a function is active or not, you recognize if there is a check in the box in front of the function name. By clicking on one of these boxes, you can add or remove the check mark.

4.2. ePaper Functions

The individual functions and buttons are described below: Full screen: If the function is activated, the Full Screen button in the ePaper is available. If this button is clicked, the ePaper is displayed in full screen, meaning on the entire screen. Generally, however, it is not possible to start a ePaper in full screen mode.

Normal view: If this function is enabled, the button Normal view is displayed in when the ePaper is in full screen mode. By clicking on this button, the full image of the ePaper is terminated. If the full screen function of ePaper is active, this function should be set to active, so that readers can easily return to the normal display size of the ePaper. One application for which you would disable this feature, for example, could be a presentation at a trade show. When the ePaper is displayed on a screen, visitors can not exit full screen mode.

Search: If the search is on, you can use the ePaper input field for text searching. Additionally, you can search for specific words in the ePaper. To do this, enter a term in the search box and press the Enter key. All pages where this term occurs, will be displayed. The following must be observed. The search function is not available in ePaper preview. It is accessible only via the web link after the ePaper published. Searches and strings must contain at least 3 characters. The space serves as a separator between two terms.

Download Full PDF: When enabled, the button download is available in the ePaper PDF. By clicking on this button in the ePaper the PDF file from which the ePaper was created can be downloaded. Since these are always unprotected PDF files (without password protection), you should carefully consider if you allow your readership this access. This function is not in the preview, but only available after publishing a ePaper.

Display page number: If this function is enabled, own page numbering will appear in the ePaper. The title page of ePaper is always displayed as the first page.

Disable side shadow: If this function is enabled, the display the shadow side is suppressed in the ePaper. The shadow effect between the sides is modeled after a book. If you leaf through a book with a sideways exposure to light, you will see the changes in the drop shadow. In ePaper the side shadow moves easily from the left to the right side.

Table of Contents use: If this function is enabled, the button content is available in the ePaper. By clicking on this button, the contents of ePaper displays if this was created.

4.3. Changing ePaper Language and Name of the Download PDF

In the field PDF document name in the PDF document, you can specify a file name for the PDF document, which can be downloaded via the download button by the reader. This is the PDF file from which the ePaper was created. If you do not specify a filename, the file is always downloaded as output.pdf by the end user. In the field Language, however, you define the language which is used in the navigation elements of the ePaper, meaning the ePaper-player. Simply click the drop-down list and select your desired language.

You can also upload a background and a logo in the ePaper settings. How exactly this works, see the following chapter.

5. Using Background and Logo in ePaper

You can use your own logo and your own background image in each ePaper. You can upload pictures in .jpg, .png and .gif format. Open the ePaper Settings from the context menu in the kiosk or via the detail page of the ePaper.

5.1. Uploading a Logo

You can see the box to add a logo at the bottom left. To select an image from the file browser of

your computer either press the green button "select file"... ... or drag an image into the gray marked area with the left mouse button held down. To upload a logo, proceed in the same way as you already know from uploading your PDF file. Then save the settings, and the logo will appear in the ePaper preview. Note that a logo is not allowed to be larger than 250 x 60 pixels.

5.2. Uploading a Background Image

You can upload a background image in the same way as a logo, either by clicking on the green button in the background field, or by dragging and dropping in the gray marked area of the field. The dimensions of the used image must not exceed 2000 x 2000 pixels.

You can then select from the drop-down menu below the image your preferred display setting of the background in the ePaper. You have the following options: centered: select this option to align an image in the middle of the ePaper. tile: select this option to display an image in the form of tiles across the entire background of the ePaper. adapt to screen size: select this option to display an image over the entire background of the ePaper. Depending on the aspect ratio of the image, this is either stretched or compressed. adapt to screen size (aspect ratio maintained): select this option to display an image over the entire background of ePaper and keep the aspect ratio of the image. Depending on your screen settings (aspect ratio / resolution) there may be parts of the image on the horizontal and vertical edges which are not displayed.

By saving the settings, the background image will be immediately available in the preview.

6. Requirements for PDF documents

A PDF file must not exceed a maximum size of 100 MB, and must not contain more than 2,000 pages. For optimal performance of the ePaper, we recommend not to use documents with more than 500 pages. Please use a web-optimized PDF for creating an ePaper - the required PDF standard is A/1-b. This reduces in the PDF unnecessary transparencies and objects, and converts the colors in the RGB color space which is required for use on the web. Please note the following points: 1 Save your document as a single-page document in a valid PDF standard (PDF/A-1b) and reduce multiple levels to only one visible layer and the resolution to 200 dpi. Save your document in compatibility with Acrobat 4.0. Your PDF file must not be password encrypted. Fonts used must be embedded in the PDF file. Please do not use complex vector graphics in your document (if in doubt replace this by pixel graphics)! Please use documents with an even number of pages, because otherwise the last page is displayed empty! In rare cases dotted lines are not displayed correctly. After conversing from the PDF file, please check the representation of such lines with the preview function.
