Albert S. Cook Library

**Research papers require both a reference list and in-text citations. An in-text citation handout is available.**

The following pieces of information may be necessary for your citation: Author(s)'s last name(s) and first initial(s) OR if unknown, sponsoring organization. If neither is available, place the document title at the beginning of the citation followed by the date. Date of original source. If no date is provided, use this: (n.d.) Title of document/article/web page Source title and publication information: volume, issue, page numbers (if applicable) Date retrieved (only required if the content is likely to change, as is the case with wikis). DOI (alphanumeric Digital Object Identifier), or if not available, a journal or webpage address. Need help finding a DOI? Look here: http://www.crossref.org/guestquery/

E-books

Electronic Articles
In general, an electronic article is cited like a print article, but with the addition of a DOI. DOIs are usually located on the article or in the database where the article was found. If you need additional help locating a DOI go here: http://www.crossref.org/guestquery/. Some articles do not have a DOI. If there is no DOI available, you will need to do a quick web search for the journal, magazine, or newspapers homepage web address. If no homepage is available, use the database homepage.
