Worth a Look
Honeydew melons are priced right out of Guatemala and Costa Rico. Get em now before the growing transition causes a gap in availability. Cantaloupes also have nice sugar. The season is off to late start but Vidalia Onions have arrived. Asparagus is coming out of California and Peru now with nice quality. Local asparagus is here from Godfrey Farms, MD. Locally grown strawberries are here in volumes now. We are in the midst of the peak season and supply exceeds demand. Come and get em. California strawberries are plentiful with outstanding quality. Stems are in and out. Raspberries have finally begun to loosen up. The fruit is very nice and although not technically a really good buy, prices are coming down. Broccoli and broccoli crown prices are lower this week with improved availability. Cauliflower has backed off a bit .

Watermelon from Florida is hitting its stride and it is really good stuff. If you want to get an early taste of summer, this is it! Castroville is the artichoke capitol. The new crop of thistle artichokes has evidence of verdant color and awesome flavor and prices. Baby artichokes are up a bit. Florida corn is plump and delicious. This crop is outstanding for both yellow and white corn. Get a jump on the Memorial Day rush, which will only push prices up. Red leaf, green leaf and romaine continue with good quality out of Salinas. Temperatures have been cooler than normal and boston lettuce, which is not as hardy, has jumped up a few dollars. Arugula is arriving daily from Jersey. Fresh mint and dill are gracing local tables from New Jersey. Bushel spinach is here from Garden St. Mangos from Mexico are beautiful right now.
