and Secondary School , Wells International School and Kasetsart Demonstration School came to Fenn Designers and experienced being a Designer for a Day. Fenn Designers is a design studio which specializes in Architecture, Master planning, Interior and Product Design. We launched Designer for a Day workshop for kids in the Grade 11 /12 to experience and understand what it is like to work in the Design field. We strongly believe in giving back and in helping children who are interested in the world of design to make better choices for their college degrees. Help them to understand the intricacies of each aspect of Architecture, Master planning, Interior Design, Product Design and Graphic Design. The children were introduced to the philosophies and processes involved in Design by our Creative Design Director, Dr. Chafia Ferhat and given a glimpse of the World of Design through a look at core subjects which should be focused on in school; what each field of design is about; a step by step explanation of what was required and what was expected of them at universities. The children had a chance to ask questions and sound out their thoughts with Dr. Chafia Ferhat and our senior people; our Technical Director, Khun Tarkoon Suwansukhum and our Managing Director, Khun Geerati Tiasiri.
Following this introduction, students were divided into 2 groups, One group for Conceptualising a project and the other for IT in the World of Design. The former group were taken on a journey by our Interior Designer, Lydia TF and Fenn architects, to look at how a project is conceptualized through; green design/sustainability , space planning, clients vision, building laws, environmental factors, interiors, and architectural styles, and trying out their hand at constructing a space within the means/ description of a sample project.
The latter group, explored the IT in the World of Design. They were introduced by specialist Fenn architects, to the various software that designers use as tools of trade. Fenn Designers demonstrated how the different softwares were used and the children had an opportunity to work with these softwares and see what they can actually do.
The workshop concluded with a presentation of the childrens individual works sketches, layout plans, or what they built using software. All in all, an educational Saturday which we hoped helped some students have a better understanding of the world of design.
