Its time to Graduate!


Can you believe it? Its 4th quarter! Senior year is coming to a close and theres so much to enjoy before you walk across that stage on June 3rd! Your School Counselors want to make sure that you have all your DA business taken care of ahead of time to help ease the stress of this busy (and wonderful) time! Theres a lot to keep track of so do what you need to do to remember! Any debts Library fines/book return Online Senior Survey (turn to page 2 for more on this!) Final transcript request Turn in any scholarship and college acceptance letters to the Guidance Office Apply/Finish FAFSA form Apply for Bright Futures

Im sure that you are feeling like you cannot wait to walk across that stage, have your summer, start college and take the next step! Be sure to take some time to slow down and remember all that you have accomplished here at Douglas Anderson. What has been your favorite performance, show, reading, film, showcase, gallery opening? Spring Senior Points to Ponder


Have you filled out your Bright Futures application? Have you filled out your FAFSA? Have you confirmed with your college AND let other schools know you wont be attending? Have you checked your community service hours?

Senior Survey: NO SURVEY = Delay in picking up cap and gown It is crucial that you complete the Senior Survey for 2013. Your survey needs to be complete by May 21st, 2013. Please go to the link below to fill out your survey.

Scholarship Letters to the Guidance OfficeAWARDS CEREMONY


If you have been awarded an academic or organizational scholarship, please turn in a copy of the scholarship letter to the Guidance Office. Please include ALL of the scholarships that you have received even if you arent going to accept the scholarship or be attending the particular school that has offered you the funding. We need this information by graduation, but if you are interested in being named in the program for the Awards Ceremony, then the Guidance Office needs your letter by May 24th.

Final Transcript Requests for the Guidance Office by May 22nd


NAME: ___________________________ STUDENT NUMBER: _____________ WHAT ARE YOUR POSTSECONDARY PLANS? Send the final transcript to the following Florida state university, state, or community college. The transcript(s) will be sent electronically via the FASTER system. We cannot send transcripts electronically to state schools outside of the state of Florida. _____________________________________________________________ Final transcripts will be mailed to out-of-state and private colleges/universities. Please bring stamped, addressed envelope(s) to the Guidance Office by May 22, 2013. Postage required - 2 stamps!! _____________________________________________________________

How do I check my Bright Futures award status?


1. Go to www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org 2. Click on: State Grants, Scholarships and Applications (on the left) 3. Click on: Check My Status 4. Enter Log In and Pin (if you dont remember your information, click on Get My User ID and PIN and enter demographic information to retrieve password and log in information) 5. Log In to view your information IMPORTANT NOTE: A Florida Financial Aid Application is required for ALL potential Bright Futures recipients and for the Supplemental State Funded Scholarships, which are listed under Programs Offered on the website. Make sure that you apply for FAFSA.

How do I request transcripts?


All requests go through the Guidance Office! The process is slightly different depending on where your transcripts are going check out the steps below so youre in the know! Request for transcripts to be sent to a FLORIDA Public College/University: Guidance will send transcripts electronically at no cost to you The college will process your transcripts which can take up to 3-4 weeks. Electronic does not mean instant.*THINK ABOUT YOUR DEADLINES* The college will post if on your application screen. Always follow up to make sure they have received your documents! Request a transcript to go to any other College/University: Request from Guidance the number of transcripts that you need Pick up your transcripts from Guidance. The first three are FREE. Each one after that is $5.00. Personally mail them off.
