Specific:
1. To help students read a passage from the story with comprehension 2. To add following new words to their regular Vocabulary:

Teaching Aids: Usual C-R aids, some pictures showing different characters. Motivation: To motivate the students, the teacher will ask the following questions:
1. Have you been to a sea? 2. What is an island? Has anyone of you been to Island
3. Have you seen a Merman? What is a Merman?

Students (most of them, at least) are not likely to answer anyone these questions. She will tell them; Okay, students lets try to answer these questions and also read a lovely story that takes place on an Island. Here we go.(showing the picture of an Island).Look at the picture. Can you see what this picture is? Describe it in a sentence. If the students fail to describe it she will explain that an island is a very large area of land but smaller than a continent which is completely surrounded by water.

Here is one ,more picture (showing a picture of a merman) can you say what this picture is? Describe it in a sentenced. Well , students it is a picture of a Merman. Mermen dont exist. A Merman is an imaginary creature with the head and upper body of a man and the tail of a fish instead of legs. Here is one more picture. It is the picture of a witch - a woman who is supposed to have, magical or wonder working powers that are most often used for giving trouble in a very bad manner. PRESENTATION: Dear students in your English Text book there is a wonderful story of King and his daughter .The story takes place on an Island on which we meet a witch, a Merman and another spirit Aerial. Let us read that and go directly on page 37. The teacher Gives the first model reading of the first stanza or of few lines. The teacher, then, stops and looks towards the students and assesses if there is need for a second model reading. After the second reading the teacher invites a few students to read loudly. This is done with the objective of providing variety and facilitation for maximum students to read correctly. When this activity is finished the teacher explains the meaning of the difficult words through their use in simple sentences. Words: Lonely: means isolated and not visited by people. So we can say a lonely house, a lonely area etc. Caliban: is the servant of Prospero. He is not human . Spirit: an invisible heavenly being .Aerial is a spirit After this the teacher will ask the students to go for silent reading. EVALUATION: Answer the following questions: 1. What is an island? 2.What is a Merman? 3. Fill the blanks a) ..was Sycorexs son. b) Aerial was a 4. Write true or False against the following: a) Caliban was Prosperos son. b) Aerial was a polite man.
