History
GANS was formed in the early 1970s as the Dairy Goat Association of Nova Scotia, the name was changed in 1990 to allow for the inclusion of producers fibre and goat meat.

Purpose
The purpose of the association was to provide and circulate sound information about goats, promote the industry, and serve as an educational resource for new breeders seeking to obtain information on the care and selection of goats.

Members
Among the Associations members are commercial producers, breeders of dairy and meat goats, and individuals who maintain small herds for home use.

Anne Drew Veterinarian and goat herdswoman, Anne Drew covers the basic feeding and nutrition requirements of goats and provides breeders information on keeping a healthy and happy herd.

Judging & Conformation


Ruth MacDonald CGS judge, Ruth MacDonald will be addressing effective judging techniques and reviewing proper conformation standards as established by the Canadian Goat Society.

Handling & Showmanship


Decades of experience will be available through our GANS members with a lot of valuable tips and knowledge for handling your animals both in and out of the show ring.

Hoof Care
Thom Drew

GANS President and goat veteran, Thom Drew will be describing proper hoof care for your goats and giving a demonstration on hoof trimming.

Cathy Vallis will be on site with an assortment of merchandise, catered to small livestock, available for purchase through her supply business. Cathy is also an authorized supplier of CFIA tags for sheep and cattle. To Contact Cathy: (902) 897-5640
