CDRP specific
• Hot-spot areas should be broken down by both day and time in order
to make CDRP staff deployment is as effective as possible.
• There should be a direct link from the violent crime task group to the
licensing unit.
• CDRPs should keep up to date with emerging good practice and take
the time to speak to counterparts about their approaches where
appropriate.
Police specific
• Each Borough should have an alcohol champion within the SMT. This
person will have sufficient knowledge around the Licensing Act in order
to be able to intervene, oversee and input on action to be developed.
• Custody office staff should ensure that they obtain details of where
arrested people have been drinking and particularly where they have
had their last drink. This will help Borough Intelligence Units to develop
a clear picture of where resources should be targeted (ie. top 10
problem premises).
