and have three children: a 2nd grader and kindergartener at Wantagh Elementary and a preschooler. I have a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Notre Dame and a Masters Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University. I am seeking election to the Board of Education because I believe the nancial challenges in the years ahead and the instability in key positions within our district in the years past require a cohesive leadership team committed to promoting a positive dynamic on the board and building consensus in the community on the critical issues facing Wantagh. The most important concern for our district is how to ensure high quality educational and extracurricular programming while working within the connes of the property tax cap. Our children deserve a solid education and our taxpayers demand good value for their education dollars. If elected, I would work diligently with our administrators and fellow BOE members to make fair and careful choices regarding our budget and do so in a scally responsible way. My previous work experience as a high school social studies teacher in Massapequa gave me a good understanding and working knowledge of the public education system. My volunteer leadership roles in both Wantagh SEPTA and Long Island Autism Speaks have given me invaluable training and real-world experience in working successfully with diverse groups to achieve common goals.
My husband and I have been residents of Wantagh for the past six years
