HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 4-6; John 9:1-20 Monday, May 27 2 Cor. 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him. Gracious God and Holy Father: Help me contemplate Christ in his sayings on the cross. First is his fellowship with men: Father, forgive them. He stands with the sinners who crucified him and tries to make apology for them, For they know not what they do. Next is his Kingly power as he opens heavens gate to the dying thief, To day shalt thou be with me in Paradise. Third, I see his human relationships. How near of kin he is to me as, even in his death throes, he thinks of his mother and says, Woman, behold thy son. He is more a human than any man has been. I see him next, taking my sin saying, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? Let me never forget it was because he bore my sin that he was forsaken by God (2 Cor 5:21). Help __________ and __________ see this! I behold him in the fifth cry saying, I thirst. There he takes not only my sin, but steps into my suffering and all the infirmity and limitations of my physical nature and flesh. But if I want to see his fullness as well as his weakness, and his allsufficiency as well as his sorrow, I need to listen to him cry, It is finished. Jesus has drained-dry the bitter cup of gall God gave him. There is not a penny to be added to the ransom price. Jesus paid it all. And if I want to see how he reconciles me to himself because of that completed redemption, I behold him taking me with him as he draws up that last word, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit. Christ goes back to the Father, and I can come to the Father, because It is finished on the cross. Aid me to get that gospel good news to __________ and __________. Seven sayings from the cross. A harp of seven strings. Nether time nor eternity will be able to gather all the music out of them. Praise the Lord! Amen. A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 13-15; John 10:22-42 Thursday, May 30 2 Cor. 9:7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS CROSS Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 7-9; John 9:21-41 Tuesday, May 28 Psa. 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth. Savior, Master, Friend: What a proof it is of how full you were of the Bible that almost every saying you gave from the cross was a quotation or allusion from scripture. To fit this verse into your own situation you added one word to it: Father. You also subtracted something from it: thou hast redeemed me. Because while David could say that, you could not because you were the Redeemer. Help me make my own speech flavored with scripture today, so all my talk might taste of some text! I should be saturated with it. From your first run-in with the Devil in the wilderness, till your last struggle with Death on the cross, your weapon was ever, It is written. John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God. In my hour of trouble, in my time of warfare I say, Father. The first cry from the cross is just like the last. They both begin with the note, Father. To help me forgive others I cry, Father! To help me in sore suffering and pain I cry, Father! My main strength lies not in being good, but in being your child. Where could I go but to the Lord? Beneath a shower of stones, the first martyr Stephen was Acts 7:59 calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. My last emotion when I die (if not my last expression) should be, Father, receive my spirit. That is the doctrinal teaching in the last cry from the crossthe Fatherhood of God and all that comes to me as a believer from it. Give me grace to claim all you are as my Father . Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 16-18; John 11:1-28 Friday, May 31 John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Glorious God and King: Prayer comes spontaneously from those who are abiding in Jesus. Prayer is the natural outflow of a soul in communion with Christ. The leaf and the fruit come out of the vines branch naturally without any conscious effort, simply because of its connection to the stem. So prayer buds and blossoms out of our church as long as our people stand abiding in Christ. The stars do not say, It is time for us to start shining. And people who are really abiding do not say, It is time for us to get at it and pray. No, we will pray like wise people eat: when hunger hits. Yet we will pray corporately at specified times. We dont have to feel in bondage when prayer ministry night comes around and say, I ought to go but I dont feel like it. No, it becomes a glad errand to run to this mercy seat! We can rejoice to go there corporately as well as personally, because that puts us in the center of the mission. Hearts abiding in Jesus send out supplications like fires send up flames and sparks. We can open the day with prayer. Help us surround ourselves with prayer as our atmosphere all day long. Then when we come to church, we simply bring that atmosphere with us! This would create the environment and atmosphere of life in our services. The fruit of abiding includes liberty in praying. There is a freedom of expression; there is power to pray. Oh Lord, help us plead as we need. We can get the answer for ourselves if we are abiding. Fluency is fine, but we need depth of thought and strength of feeling, because a true prayer is measured by weight and not by length. Make even our groans to be great orations! Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 10-12; John 10:1-21 Wednesday, May 29 Psa. 143:8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Holy Lord and Helping Spirit: If there is any sin I have not conquered, come conquering Spirit of holiness and overcome it! When will you come to me? I can do nothing but what the Spirit enables me, yet when I have his mighty help, I can do all things. The cry of my soul is for doctrinal teaching, divine direction, Holy Spirit help, and true fellowship with the Father. My heart yearns for nothing more than for that. I never walk uprightly unless I walk with you! The Holy Spirit walks in me, for I am sealed and I belong to him. He dwells in me, but I do not always walk in the Holy Spirit. How will I solve that? I know! Since holiness is wisdom, then I will let communion with you and meditation on your word become the mother of holiness in me. I cannot be like Christ if I do not see Christ. I have to seek God and see God in order to be godly. If I can live content today without a word from the mouth of Godgoing to work without prayer, coming home, checking email, watching TV, going to bed without seeking your facethen I do not really want revival. To walk wisely is impossible without a word from your word! The neglect of prayer is a fatal flaw in my life, no matter how long I have been saved or how much else I know. Communion with you is so essential, and disregard of it is such folly, it is ridiculous for me to talk about knowing the way wherein I should walk without it. Help me get nearer to God today, closer to Christ today, intimate with your Spirit today, for that is true revival. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Chron. 19-21; John 11:29-57 Saturday, June 1 Psa. 106:16 They envied Moses also in the camp, and Aaron the saint of the LORD. Holy Master and Lord: What do I do when people turn against me? Israel owed everything to Moses as the Lords anointed, yet they would not concede him the authority he needed to lead them to the land of promise. Some were more openly rebellious and became leaders of a mutiny, but dissatisfaction was widespread in the nation. Who can hope to escape envy? How unsober and unreasonable envy is. Of all the men in the camp, Moses worked the hardest. They should have sympathized with him, but instead they argued even with Aaron, the man appointed to offer sacrifices for them. Bad people are spiteful against those who would help them the most. Psa. 106:21 They forgat God their saviour, which had done great things in Egypt; Your patience was exhausted with the people because your pastoral leaders are very dear to you. You overcame all the idols in Egypt, yet Israel wandered. They bowed before a calfa mockery of Godeven after they saw what the true God could do. For the first sin in the wilderness you sent chastening: leanness in their souls. For the second sin you weeded-out the offenders. For the third you threatened destruction for them all. For the fourth, Psa. 106:26 Therefore he lifted up his hand against them, to overthrow them in the wilderness: For the fifth you actually struck them and the plague broke out. Punishment increases with persistence in sin. This should serve as my warning if I am unrepentant. Subpoena me now before your throne. Bring me before the cross. Lord, let me forsake all my idols for you today! Amen.

BLEST is the man who shuns the place where sinners love to meet;
Who fears to tread their wicked ways, and hates the scoffers seat: But in the statutes of the Lord has placed his chief delight; By day he reads or hears the word, and meditates by night. He, like a plant of genrous kind, by living waters set, Safe from the storms and blasting wind, enjoys a peaceful state. Green as the leaf, and ever fair, shall his profession shine While fruits of holiness appear like clusters on the vine. Not so the impious and unjust; what vain designs they form! Their hopes are blown away like dust, or chaff before the storm. Sinners in judgment shall not stand amongst the sons of grace, When Christ, the Judge, at his right hand appoints his saints a place. His eye beholds the path they tread, His heart approves it well But crooked ways of sinners lead down to the gates of hell. Psalm 1, Isaac Watts

TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
