Why this is a crucial time in Brazil for the Christian family

Our Children
We are encouraged to see our children growing and thriving here. They miss family and friends in the US, but understand the MISSION that the Lord has given us for this season in Brazil, and their extreme importance to this ministry -that we are all in it together! We are very excited to have just nished our school year: Joshua nished 5th grade, Dominique nished 3rd grade, Israel is trucking along on 1st grade, and Johann on preschool. Olivia had her rst birthday on March 29th and continues to bring much joy to our family. Please pray for us as we attempt to raise them in the nuture and admonition of the Lord, and for His special grace through times of frequent travel, long seminars, etc.

Greetings friends and supporters! We hope all is well with you and your family. Since the beginning of the year we have not stopped. We have done weekend family seminars in three different cities, as well as our seven-week family course in two different local churches. We took a mission trip with our Chicago churches to Curitiba (3 hours from here) for one week. Elizabeth spoke at a ladies meeting at our local church, as well as traveling back to Curitiba to speak at a womens conference at the same church as the mission trip. We

continue to attempt to produce material for our website and we are working on writing booklets that we hope to be able to print soon. We have completed one booklet and are working on two others. The Lord has put us in contact with churches in many different places and we have been able to connect with many pastors. We continue to be amazed at how God is opening doors for this ministry, and we continue to be impressed with the absolute necessity of this material as well. We will share in this newsletter some of our burden for the Brazilian family - a burden we know comes from the heart of Father God.

THE OTHER SIDE OF THIS JOYFUL AND FRIENDLY COUNTRY

Representative and Pastor Marcos Feliciano was appointed last March to head the Human Rights Congressional Committee (HRCC) in the Brazilian House of Representatives. People are furious not only at his stances against homosexuality and abortion, but also because HRCC had always been headed by the ruling socialist Workers Party and other socialists, who operated this congressional committee to approve the allocation of millions of taxpayer money to homosexualist projects. Pastor Feliciano has been under all types of pressure and threats against his family as gay Protestant militants petition the Brazilian government and Congress to remove Feliciano from the HRCC presidency. At this point, Feliciano is the main voice in Brazil ghting for the traditional family. Pray for him: Pastor Marcos Feliciano.

SOME POINTS OF A BILL THAT IS AWAITING APPROVAL: - eliminate traditional family and remove terms like father or mother from documents so homossexuals would not be offended; - ban traditional celebrations from schools such as Fathers Day and Mothers day

- authorize teens of 14 yrs of age to start taking hormonal treatments, so that by the age of 18 they would be able to nalize the process with a surgery to change sex, paid by Public Health. - books should not reenforce gender; - homossexuals should get special treatment as minority;

THE BRAZILIAN NATION: ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE CHILDRENS INNOCENCE AND IDENTITY: - Politicians are trying to legalize prostitution in Brazil before the World Cup and Olympics to take advantage of the number of foreigners that will be coming. Above book BOY LOVES BOY is mandatory reading for 5th graders in some schools. - Brazil is known for child sex trafcking where thousands of foreigns come every year to practice pedophilia. - When teachers in some regions report cases of sexual and homossexual behavior among children, the Secretary of Education says it is ok and normal.

- They are also trying to lower the legal age for sexual activity from 14 to 12 which would make of Brazil a country where sex tours with children is legal.

All this in the country that is already known for being a child sex trafcking hot spot -- second only to Thailand! Brazil has been reported to have between 250,000 and 500,000 child prostitutes. Pray for this nations leaders.

Why do we share all this? This nation God has called us to at this time is going through a very difcult time in the realm of family and as one pastor said: The Brazilian church today is at a place where it needs to take a stand on what they believe concerning family. But for this to happen, they need to know what they believe concerning family and their role as Christian parents to not only protect their children from the demonic system that is rising but most importantly to raise them as a strong godly generation that will take the baton and go on even stronger. We understand we dont have all the answers but we believe that God has brought us here to contribute to His work and has surprisingly been opening doors that we didnt expect in various denominations. As we go, we continue to see the desperate need for Christian parents to acquire a biblical vision for their homes. At the same time, we have been very encouraged to see some people get it and begin to see changes in their families! Here are a few of the testimonials we have received:

Jessica With Us

Jessica Neeley, from one of our Chicago churches, has been with us for the past six weeks and will be returning home this week. She has helped us in various ways, to develop skits for our seminar, to attempt to get our seminars on video, and by sharing her testimony of grace at the seminars as well. She has been blessed by parents who took serious their mission eld of their own children, leading her to know and love Jesus from an early age. It was amazing to see how God used her testimony to inspire many parents who desire the same for their children!

God provided a pastor who wanted us to coach them on how to parent their kids. Well, after meeting with them a couple of times, he said, I have experience with video production. Lets produce some videos you can use to provide small group courses! We said, Hallelujah! The Lord saw our needs and answered our prayers! So, now we are working on acquiring the necessary equipment to make that happen. Details below. WHAT WILL WE DO WITH OUR FREE TIME AFTER THAT? Free? We are currently working on developing a Seminar 2, with topics that are so important, but impossible to cover in one weekend. Many parents and pastors have requested this, as well more written material online, videos and booklets to sell containing material parents can use to disciple their children and how-to ideas. The work is great. May God extend our time and make us efcient with it!

Our Goals
GETTING HELP We recently had a meeting with the pastor of the church we are attending and mentioned our needs of having people to come along to help us in this ministry. We suggested the idea of beginning an internship program with the young people at the church that could not only help with church work, but also with our ministry. He liked the idea and gave us an OK to go for it. Now we need to nd the right people, acquire some equipment for them to work with and gure out details. PRODUCING A VIDEO COURSE As many have suggested, we have been praying about producing a video course to extend the reach of this ministry, without totally overwhelming ourselves and our little ones traveling all over doing Seminars.

VIDEO EQUIPMENT - SPECIAL REQUEST

We have tried several times to video our seminars using the equipment that we have, but the quality was so poor that we were not able to use them for reproduction. We realized the importance of better equipment and so we began raising funds for it, as many of you know. We are a little more than 1/4 of the way there now!
