Course Description: An introductory course on statistical thinking, modeling, analysis, and decision making. This course covers a variety of topics including descriptive statistics, point and interval estimation, hypothesis testing, regression analysis, analysis of variance, etc. Grading Policy: Homework Exam 1 (6/5 during class) Exam 2 (7/3 during class) Final Exam (7/30 11:30 a.m.-2:20 p.m.) 10% 25% 25% 40%

Course Policies: There will be several graded homework assignments during the semester. The homework should be handed in before the end of the class on the due date. NO late submissions will be accepted (The lowest score will be dropped). You are encouraged to discuss homework problems with your fellow students, but your final answers should be based on your own understanding. Copying another students work is NOT acceptable and violates the honor code. Requests for re-grading homework or exam papers should be made within a week of being returned. Note that re-graded papers may be fully re-graded (every problem), and therefore re-grading may result in either a loss or a gain of points. Exams are comprehensive and closed-book. For Exam 1, Exam 2 and the Final Exam, students are allowed to bring one, two, and three (double-sided) sheets for equations, respectively. There are no constraints on the contents of the notes. You MUST be able take each exam at the scheduled time (detailed in the Grading

Policy). If you are unable to take a midterm exam due to an emergency, the final exam will carry additional weight in the calculation of your grade (65% instead of 40%). Occasional pop quizzes will be given during class as an opportunity for extra credit. You may receive up to 5 points to be added to your final course grade.

Academic Honor Code: It is your responsibility to get familiar with the Georgia Tech Honor Code and you are bound by its requirements. For any questions involving these or any other Academic Honor Code issues, please consult me, the TA, or www.honor.gatech.edu.
