HAZARD - ACUTE-Eye Contact: Will cause irritation. Skin Contact: May cause mild irritation. Ingestion: May be harmful if swallowed. Avoid ingestion. Inhalation: Excessive inhalation of vapors may cause nasal and respiratory irritations. Headaches may result.

HAZARD - CHRONIC-Toxicity: Generally low toxicity. Use good hygiene practices. Exposure Limits: ACGIH-TLV-STEL: 150 ppm Carcinogenic Potential: N/E This product may contain residual vinyl acetate vapors which have been shown to cause tumors in respiratory tracts of laboratory animals exposed to 600 ppm over a lifetime; 200 ppm caused irritation. There is no evidence of adverse effects to humans exposed to levels at or below ACGIH TLV of 100 ppm. Unvented head-space of drums may contain small amounts of residual monomer; avoid vapors in opening new drums. In the cross-linking of this product, trace amount of formaldehyde will be generated on curing. This can be controlled by good hygiene and work-place air monitoring and ventilation.

GENERAL COMMENTS: TSS-PVA is a nonionic polyvinyl acetate homopolymer providing excellent stiffening and firmness of hand to textile fabrics and also improves the tensile strengths of treated fabrics. The deposited film is thermoplastic, yet will resume its original firmness and feel on cooling. This product is compatible with most finishing formulations. This product shows excellent mechanical stability to high-speed shearing and deposits a clear, tough film resistant to light discoloration. TSS-PVA provides good adhesive qualities with excellent initial tack and may be used as a base for preparing adhesives. Plant runs indicate less pad roll or drum roll pick-up or build-up. APPLICATION: For textile stiffening, the amount applied will vary with the stiffening required. A range of 2% to 8% will usually provide the desired hand and firmness. When applied in conjunction with water repellent finishes, we suggest that no more than 4.% be applied as excesses will tend to depress spray ratings. For adhesive work, the addition of a plasticizer is usually required.
