THOUGHTS FROM BRAD

Allow me to begin this article by saying many words of thanks. I want to thank Michelle & Josh Czich for preparing our meal last Sunday for our Matthew Party after second service. Your labor of love was greatly appreciated by all. Thank you to everyone who brought a friend. We had nine visitors at 2nd Worship on Sunday! I also want to thank all our volunteers who serve on our Worship team, both band and vocals. For the hours you put into each week, we say thanks. I especially want to thank my coworker Scott who has dedicated his extra hours of service to provide a comfortable atmosphere for our second worship. It takes many people to pull off what we do here each week at Fifth. Thanks to everyone who serves in some capacity as a kingdom builder. Speaking of volunteers, I want to make you aware of a very special need here at FACC. We need a volunteer to serve as our Nursery Coordinator. This takes a special person who has a heart for our smallest of children. This ministry is so vital to the life of our church and it means a great deal to those who we are seeking to reach in this community. If you can help with this area of service, please contact Brad at the office. Switching gears to an entirely different subject, if you plan to attend the Reds vs. Pirates game on June 20th with the church, I need to hear from you by May 31st at the latest. Have a great week, Brad (Eph. 3:20-21)

BITS FROM BRO. DAVE

FINAL NOTICE: Just a reminder to those attending Senior Saints in The Smokies! Our departure time is Monday, May 27, at 5:59am. TOURING THE AIRSTREAM PLANT: On Wednesday, June 26, we are traveling to Jackson Center, OH to see how they build Airstream trailers. The plant only provides group tours at ten oclock in the morning. Therefore, it will be necessary for us to leave here at 7:30 AM on that day. A sign-up sheet is posted. LaCOMEDIA DINNER THEATRE: On October 17, we will be going to the LaComedia Dinner Theatre, in Dayton, to see a third installment of The Church Basement Ladies: A Mighty Fortress. If you are interested in making this trip, you can make your reservations early by contacting me or the church office. The earlier the better! I would like your payment 60 days in advance of the show date. (The cost, per person is $44.00. Remember this includes travel, dinner and the show.) I do have some reservations, already. SUNDAY EVENINGS IN THE SANCTUARY: This week, May 26, we are beginning a new series that I am calling Seven Lessons From Judges. These lessons will be character studies of five of the Old Testament Judges. This week is an introductory lesson, When People Forgot God. Next week, we will look at When A Woman Leads (Judges 4:4-10). If you are not involved in a small group, on Sunday evenings, I encourage you to join us. Communion is available for those who desire. Please be reminded that we now have activities for children each Sunday evening. WEDNESDAY BIBLE STUDIES: Neither of our Wednesday study groups (10 am & 6:30 pm) will be meeting this week (May 29). We will resume on June 5. FINAL THOUGHT: Nothing makes a long story short like the arrival of the person you happen to be talking about.

Last week in Childrens Church we learned about Joshua and Caleb. They were confident in Gods Promise and remained faithful to Him. Most of the time, I do not understand Gods plan, and I dont think Im alone on this. However, it is important that we trust God, no matter what His plan is. We must remain faithful to Him through the good and the bad. I finished the Summer Schedule for the Childrens Program, copies are in various places around the church. If you see a particular event that you would be interested in helping out with, please contact me! (606) 5245503 or hannahatfifth@gmail.com. Hannah

You are the light of the worldlike a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father. As Christians, we have the good news that everyone needs. We have an opportunity to reach a world around us that desperately needs Jesus. We have the opportunity to live life with and for Jesus so that others can see the difference he has made in us. This leads to a couple of important questions: are we allowing Jesus to change us from the inside out? And Are we letting others see the change? Following Jesus is not just about our salvation, but also about accepting our role in bringing salvation to others. That means surrender of our lives to be constantly changed to be more like Christ, so that others can see the change and seek that change for themselves. Loving our neighbor as ourselves means caring enough to share the good news of Jesus. Lord, help us to share your love with others, help us to let you have your way in us so we may bring glory to your name.

Congratulations to Amber Dixon and Jordan Cupp who were married on Saturday, May 18. The ceremony was conducted at Littlebrook by Dave Tingler. Jordan is the son of Laura & Gene Cupp and the grandson of Nancy Speakman.
Dorcas Society

Christ-Centered Worship
We make it a priority every Sunday to celebrate Jesus through our music. (Romans 11:36-12:1-2). We focus on Jesus through grace-based preaching and teaching & understand the Bible is our authority (2 Timothy 3:16).

Church Health and Biblical Balance

Church health becomes reality when God's people seek harmony & live consistently. We expect every member to protect the unity of Christ's Church. (Romans 12:16; 1 Peter 3:8)

We are constant to our founding call to worldwide evangelism, proclaiming to all that Jesus Christ is the Savior, Healer, and Soon-Coming King (Acts 20:27).

Global Evangelism

How Can I Respond Today?

At FACC we look to the Bible for guidance on all issues. We believe that Gods Word is clear concerning what a person must do to become a Christian. Trust that Jesus can bring you to salvation. Turn (repent) from the sin in your life. Confess your desire to make Jesus the Lord of your life. Be baptized (immersed) in water for the forgiveness of sins and to receive the Holy Spirit into your life. To make this life decision for Christ, we ask that you come forward during our commitment song at the conclusion of the Sunday message. Baptized believers are welcome to become members at FACC by coming forward on Sunday morning or by seeing our Senior Minister to discuss this further. We ask that you complete a series of Curious classes to help you better understand what you are committing to as a member.

Fellowship and Ministry

After people begin their journey with Jesus, we will equip them to find a ministry based upon their strengths. We want everyone to serve in some capacity. (1 Corinthians 12:12-27) We also want His church to be the living evidence of His love and power to the world.

We do not want you to "get religion" here at Fifth Avenue Church of Christ in Lancaster. We are all about teaching you that Jesus seeks a daily relationship with Him through a life of obedience. In other words, we want to see the things you are taught actually change your lifestyle & your daily decisions.

Discipleship

Social Conscience
We place high valueOUR on thePURPOSE sanctity of human life, of Biblical marriage and morality, and we welcome ethnic diversity (IsaiahTO 56:7; WE EXIST Philippians 2:15-16). Exalt Gods Greatness; Evangelize Gods Work Equip Gods People Express Gods Love through Jesus Christ

Library Spotlight
Listen, Live & Laugh Bible Stories is a Mommy and Me book to introduce even the youngest child to Bible concepts and characters creation, Noah, Jonah, Christmas, Easter, and heaven and make the lessons more memorable with simple life applications and a healthy dose of silliness. The authors, Christine Tangvald and Rondi DeBoer have written many childrens books, and Robert Neubecker has been illustrating for over 20 years. Ruth is an adult fiction book by Lori Copeland, from her Brides of the West 1872 series. The book tells the story of spunky, young Ruth Priggish who is on the run from an 80-year-old suitor. Faced with the prospect of marriage to the persistent old codger, Ruth throws caution to the wind and heads for Wyoming Territory, where freedom and independence await. Her only hope is to seek help from an unwilling protector: Dylan McCall. U.S. Marshall Dylan McCall is trying desperately to get to Wyoming before winter sets in. But when he finds himself saddled with a stubborn spitfire who wont take no for an answer, his job and his heart are at stake. Be sure to stop by our library and check out a good book.
