Indian Point Park campgrounds and Indian Point Marina are at the end of Indian Point Road, past Silver Dollar City. The wooded park has primitive and water and power hookup campsites. Q Shepherd of the Hills Fish Hatchery is the largest trout-rearing facility operated by the Missouri Department of Conservation. Visitors can explore exhibits or take a guided tour to learn about aquatic life and fishing. Memorial Day-Labor Day hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Guided tours at 10 and 11 a.m., 1 and 2 p.m. weekdays in the summer. Admission is free. The Table Rock Lake area offers acres of commercial and public campsites, many with lakeshore access, modern restrooms, showers, electric/water hookups, dump stations, boat launches and swimming areas. Some have restaurants, too. Commercial campground fees range from $13 to $46 per night based on level of hookup service and the campground. For a list of commercial campgrounds, visit explorebranson.com. Table Rock State Park is the 356-acre park along the lakeshore accessed from Missouri 265/165. Its run by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Facilities include modern restrooms, hot showers and a coin-operated laundry, picnic sites, a sand volleyball court and playground equipment. An open picnic shelter can be reserved by calling the park office at 334-4704. Campsite reservations may be made by calling toll-free 877-422-6766, or by going online at www.mostateparks.com. Campsite fees for May through November 2013: $13 basic, $21 electric (30 max amp), $23 electric (50 max amp), $26 sewer/electric/water (30 max amp), $28 sewer/electric/water (50 max amp). Year-round fees for senior citizens age 65 and older and persons with disabilities: $11 basic, $19 electric (30 max amp), $21 electric (50 max amp), $24 sewer/electric/water (30 max amp), $26 sewer/electric/water (50 max amp). A family electric (50 max amp) campsite is available for $46, it is twice the size of the normal sized campsite. Additional reservation fees may apply and are nonrefundable. A two-night minimum stay on the weekend is required at most state parks. Reservations can be made up to six months in advance or as close as two days before your arrival. Reservations cannot be accepted later than two days in advance of your arrival. Pets must be kept on leashes at all times and are permitted on most hiking trails. Some of the most common lake-related injuries are fish hooks in the body; cuts to the feet from stepping on broken glass in the water; severe sunburns; and alcohol-related accidents.

The Water Patrol will respond to emergency breakdowns, but the patrol generally does not tow disabled boats.

Marina operators will help you find the appropriate style and size of boat for your needs, and provide a short lesson. Some marinas also rent canoes, paddle boats, personal watercraft, tubes, skis, wake boards and knee boards and scuba and fishing equipment. Rentals vary by marina and are priced by the hour, day or week. Many marinas do not accept checks. Often, the longer you rent, the better deal you get. Boat deposits vary from $200 to $500, which is applied against any damage costs. Some things to consider: Many marinas dont allow pets on rental boats.

Wear water shoes in the water. Do not drink alcohol and swim or boat. Be careful when casting a line and look behind you. Wear sunscreen and reapply frequently.

Try to make reservations two weeks in advance; one month in advance if it is a holiday weekend. Marinas vary on age requirement to operate boats, from 18 to 21 years old. Any watercraft operator born after Jan. 1, 1984, must provide a Boaters Safety Certificate, proof of completion of a boating safety course. All fuel and oil costs extra on rental boats at most marinas.
