DEPTHS OF DEATH

FADE IN: EXT. MANSION -- NIGHT

We see an old, mysterious mansion set on the small, tropical island in the evening setting. There are several outer lights on and every interior light seems to be lit. We see the well lit dock with a yacht tied to it. Two men in their early and mid thirties, BRODRICK VLADIMIRE, and his older brother, HEDRICK VLADIMIRE, walk along the dock and onto the elegant path leading to the mansion. Both men are equally handsome with dark hair and tasteful clothes. Brodrick appears less enthusiastic. BRODRICK I wish it didn't have to be this way, but Gina's left me with no other option. Hedrick shakes his head with a saddened expression. HEDRICK So you were able to prove she'd been cheating on you? BRODRICK Considering the trail she'd left behind, I'd say she wasn't attempting to hide it. They approach the mansion's front garden with an expensive, stone water fountain. BRODRICK This past year has been a disaster. I moved into the guest room nearly ten months ago, and my health has been deteriorating over the past five months. I hardly sleep, I have nightmares I can't even describe without becoming ill, and I have to deal with her nagging twit of a sister to top it all off. It's like she made a clone of herself to ensure my uninterrupted torture. Hedrick stops him just near the porch and turns to face him.

HEDRICK Didn't she sign some sort of prenuptial agreement before you got married? BRODRICK When she told me she was pregnant, I wanted to do the right thing and get married. No one said I had to be stupid about it. Should've known that was a lie as well. First and last time I look for love while drunk in a barroom. Hedrick attempts a laugh and pats Brodrick on the back. HEDRICK Look on the bright side. She's in for a very rude awakening. BRODRICK This island is all she ever wanted from me, and I'll be damned if she's ever going to have it. And if I so much as look at another woman as long as I live, shoot me. HEDRICK Hmm. Now or later? From everything I've heard, that new assistant of yours certainly is something. BRODRICK Very attractive but completely off limits. She's a lovely girl. Certainly doesn't need to be corrupted by the likes of me. Hedrick laughs as they enter the house. HEDRICK I'll gladly corrupt her. Introduce me sometime. INT. LOUNGE We see two women in their late twenties, GINA SIMMONS VLADIMIRE and CORINE SIMMONS, sitting before the walk-in fireplace laughing over drinks and caviar. Brodrick appears in the lounge doorway with his hands in his pockets and a stern look on his face. Both women look at him. Corine smiles seductively while Gina just smirks.

CORINE Hi, Sweetheart. How was your trip? Brodrick glares at Corine then looks to Gina, who dresses the role of a fairy tale princess. BRODRICK Tomorrow morning, you and your harlot sister will pack your things. I've leased an apartment on the mainland for you. You will reside there or anywhere except here. Enjoy your caviar, ladies. Brodrick turns and leaves the lounge. Gina appears stunned. She quickly springs from the sofa and hurries after Brodrick. INT. GRAND HALL -- CONTINUOUS Gina storms into the hall and hurries after Brodrick. Brodrick continues toward the kitchen. GINA You wait one minute, Brodrick. Brodrick casually turns and stares at her with little emotion. BRODRICK I've given you fourteen months-fourteen very long months. I don't have one more minute for you. GINA There's no way I'm leaving. This is my house--my island. BRODRICK Actually, it's not. You signed a paper saying so much. And with a trail of adultery a mile long, I suspect a divorce will be granted quite painlessly. Gina stands directly in front of him with a wild look in her eyes. GINA Don't test me, Brodrick. There are hundreds of lawyers who'd die for the chance to take you to court. I want my fair share.

BRODRICK You've more than spent your fair share. GINA We'll see about that. I'm sure I can find some scandal between you and that attractive new secretary of yours. Brodrick's look turns harsh. BRODRICK She's an innocent, young girl. You just stay the hell away from her. Gina folds her arms over her chest and glares with a smug smile. GINA She won't be so innocent when I get through with her. Brodrick takes a step toward Gina and grabs her arm roughly. BRODRICK You keep her out of this or you'll regret it. Gina pulls away from him. GINA Poor, pathetic Brodrick. Your gallantry will be your undoing. Brodrick glares at her with a look of loath and hatred. Gina laughs evilly. GINA Sorry, Baby. I win this round. You want to keep your new playmate, you'd better get used to me calling the shots. BRODRICK I want you out by morning. And if you ever come back here or show up at the museum, I'll kill you. Do you understand? Gina glares at him. Her anger only masks a glimmer of fear.

GINA Don't threaten me.

BRODRICK It's no threat. It's a promise. Better work on your personality if you ever intend to lure in another sucker. Because the spoiled rotten bitch persona just doesn't cut it. Gina slaps him across the face. Brodrick glares at her but doesn't make a motion toward her. BRODRICK Have a nice life. Brodrick turns and heads into the kitchen. Gina places her hand to her forehead and curses softly. We see the maid, ANNETTE, peering out from the dining room. She quickly disappears back into the dining room. INT. BASEMENT WORKSHOP Brodrick enters the cold, empty stone room with his usual glass of brandy. The room consists of a small, cluttered desk and a shelf full of old books. He collapses behind the desk and opens a book titled "Black Magic". He sips his drink and reads from the book. Brodrick gently rubs his eyes then returns to the book. We hear voices echoing across the room. Brodrick looks around. There's no one there. He shakes his head, sips his brandy, and returns to the book. Pictures drawn on the page appear to dance around. He gently rubs his eyes, groans, and sits back in the chair. He shuts his eyes a moment. The room appears to spin slightly. FEMALE VOICE Brodrick! Brodrick gasps and jerks forward. He quickly looks around. There's no one there. He stares at the lit candle on the desk. The flame appears to dance in the form of a naked woman. Brodrick stares at the flame with a strange look. He slowly reaches for the flame. It leaps forward and burns him. Brodrick pulls his hand back with a gasp then looks to the red mark on his hand. FEMALE VOICE Brodrick! Brodrick quickly looks around the room with concern and possible paranoia. He pushes his drink aside and clutches his head in his hands. INT. HALL Annette appears in the hallway from the kitchen. carries a stack of towels. She

We hear a faint crash from one of the rooms in the connecting hallway. Annette pauses then turns and heads back toward the connecting hallway. She approaches the billiard room with a concerned look. INT. BILLIARD ROOM -- CONTINUOUS Annette slowly enters the billiard room then abruptly stops. We see Hedrick lying on the marble floor, face down, in a pool of fresh blood. Blood can be seen along his neck from a pronounced slice on his throat. His eyes and mouth remain open. Annette drops the towels and screams hysterically. She spins toward the door and collides with Gina and Corine. GINA Annette, what are you-Both women see Hedrick. They scream as well. women run from the room. INT. CORINE He's gone insane! ANNETTE No, not Mr. Vladimire. wouldn't-He

GINA He's been acting strange lately-but to kill his own brother? CORINE There's no one else in the house! It has to be him! Gina hurries to a nearby wall table and quickly routes through the drawer.

She removes a small revolver and hands it to Corine. Corine eyes the gun then passes it to Annette. Annette stares at the gun with concern. GINA The radio! We can radio for help in the study! We see someone outside in the darkness dart past the glass doors. Annette gasps and looks to the outside doors. Gina and Corine spin, look toward the doors, and quickly back away. We see the outline of a man in black appear before the doors. All three scream. Annette runs from the lounge. Gina and Corine follow. INT. HALL -- CONTINUOUS Annette enters the hall as we hear glass shattering. Gina runs just behind her while screaming. Corine appears in the doorway then is suddenly pulled back into the room with a terrified scream. The door slams shut. Gina spins back for the door and attempts to open it. Annette returns and attempts to help her. Corine! GINA Corine!

We hear Corine's terrified screams. The door harshly vibrates, causing Gina and Annette to jump back. There's a loud thump as the door vibrates again. Corine's scream subsides abruptly and changes into a loud gasp. Gina pounds on the door. GINA Corine! We see blood seep rapidly beneath the door. Annette sees the blood, points, and screams. Gina grabs Annette and pulls her down the hall. INT. STUDY Gina and Annette run into the study. Gina shuts and locks the door behind them. Annette nervously looks around the room with the revolver aimed in her trembling hands. She aims it from the main door to the outer glass doors. Gina hurries to the radio on a table near the glass doors. She picks up the radio receiver. We hear loud, shrill static. Gina cries out with frustration and fear. ANNETTE What are we going to do? Gina paces the room while thinking. toward Annette. She quickly spins

GINA The yacht. We'll go to the dock and sail to the mainland. The study door suddenly vibrates as its violently pounded upon. Both women scream. Annette aims the gun at the door. The pounding ceases. Both women stare at the door while breathing heavily. They nervously look at one another. Gina slowly approaches the study door. Annette keeps the gun aimed at the door. No, don't. there. ANNETTE He's waiting out

She gasps and clutches her bleeding abdomen. Annette screams hysterically and nervously aims the gun. Gina falls forward onto the porch. Annette again screams. She slams and locks the door then backs away. She quickly looks around as if planning her next move. She continues to back down the hall then takes a wide birth around the blood beneath the lounge door. She half sobs then regains her composure. She quickly turns and runs for the kitchen. INT. KITCHEN -- CONTINUOUS Annette bolts into the dimly lit kitchen and hurries across it. She nervously looks around then turns and collides with Brodrick. Annette screams, leaps back, and aims the gun at him. It trembles harshly. Brodrick holds up his hands. BRODRICK Easy, Annette, it's just me. I heard screaming. What's going on? Annette stares at Brodrick with the same terrified expression. She keeps the gun on him and nervously grips it. Brodrick appears concerned.

BRODRICK Annette, what happened? They're dead! What? How? ANNETTE They're all dead! BRODRICK Annette doesn't look away from him. Her look is frightened and unpredictable. Brodrick remains uneasy. BRODRICK Okay, let's just take it easy. Please point that thing somewhere else. Annette continues to stare. himself. Brodrick appears concerned

BRODRICK Annette, you know I'm not a killer. Just relax and put down the gun. Annette remains still a moment then uncertainly lowers the gun. Brodrick relaxes. BRODRICK We'll radio for help. ANNETTE The radio is broken. The phones don't work either. BRODRICK Then we'll sail back to the mainland. Brodrick guides her across the kitchen to the hall door. She protests. ANNETTE No, he's waiting outside. BRODRICK Who? ANNETTE I don't know. There must be someone else on the island. Brodrick appears alarmed and nervously looks around. BRODRICK We can't stay here. We have to go for help.

Brodrick extends his hand. BRODRICK Give me the gun. You don't even know how to use it. Annette uncertainly hands him the gun. He quickly takes her by the wrist and pulls her from the kitchen. EXT. MANSION -- NIGHT The front door opens to reveal Brodrick and Annette. We see a large amount of blood on the porch. Gina's body is gone. Brodrick stares at the blood with a horrified expression. Annette quickly turns. The ax strikes her in the midsection. She can barely even gasp. She's grabbed and tossed over the railing. We hear a loud splash.

One year later. We see a huge display room with dinosaur skeletons standing several stories high. A young woman, JANAN SHAW, stands before a smaller dinosaur exhibit and writes in a journal. She appears absorbed in her writing. Someone slowly approaches her from behind. JANAN (firm) Do it and die, Cato. Pan back to reveal, CATO, a male security guard in his late twenties with his arms out before him in an attempt to grab her. He lowers his arms and relaxes with a look of disappointment. Janan lowers her journal and turns to face him. CATO How do you always know I'm behind you? JANAN Because you're always behind me. Why are you so obsessed with scaring me? I told you I don't scare easily. CATO That's why I'm obsessed. going out tonight? Are we

JANAN I can't tonight. Brodrick wants me to help with the books for his accountant. CATO Hector's idea, I suppose. Janan laughs. Her cheerful smile fades to a slight smirk as she stares behind Cato. We see a fairly good-looking man, HECTOR SANTIAGO, approach them. Cato looks behind him. His smile fades as well. He walks away from Janan and pretends to be busy by the large exhibit. Hector pauses before Janan with a cheerful smile. HECTOR Good evening, Janan. late tonight? JANAN Going over expenses. HECTOR Wonderful! You can join me for dinner, and we'll go over them together. JANAN Actually, Brodrick and I are doing the books. Hector's smile turns lusty. HECTOR Oh, I see. We see Cato near the exhibit. He rolls his eyes and sneers. Janan appears uneasy by the tone of his comment. We hear loud, angry voices echoing from across the museum near the office area. All three look around with concern. Janan, Hector, and Cato hurry toward the office area. We see Brodrick and STAN SIMMONS facing one another. Their looks are harsh and unpredictable. BRODRICK Get out of my museum, or I'll have you thrown out! Stan lunges for Brodrick. Brodrick leaps from his path, allowing Stan to crash into a small exhibit. HECTOR Jesus! Cato tackles Stan to the floor before he can return to his feet. Stan swings and punches at Cato. Staying

Cato swiftly pins Stan's arms behind his back and kneels on the small of his back. Stan cries out and becomes motionless. Two more guards rush to the scene and pull Stan to his feet. They cling to his arms and pull him toward the door. A small crowd of visitors gather around the area. HECTOR Get him out of here! Stan fights the guards and glares at Brodrick. STAN You'll never be rid of me, Vladimire! I'll see you dead before I let this go! The security guards pull him out the front door. follows after them. Janan fusses over Brodrick. JANAN Are you all right? Brodrick nods then shakes his head with a frown. BRODRICK My ex-brother-in-law. He's a harmless quack. HECTOR Didn't sound harmless. should be arrested. He Cato

BRODRICK He threatens me all the time. Usually just over the phone. If he really wanted me dead, I'm sure he'd have tried it by now. JANAN Why does he want you dead? BRODRICK It's a long story. HECTOR If he comes here again, I'm calling the police. Hector eyes them then walks away. Janan watches Hector leave and frowns. Brodrick notes her look. BRODRICK Something wrong? JANAN I swear he thinks something's going on between us.

BRODRICK Perhaps he's right. Janan eyes him with some surprise. BRODRICK Romantic candlelight, Chinese takeout, and cash debit books-enough to seduce any woman. Brodrick chuckles softly, places his hand to her back, and gently guides her toward the office area. BRODRICK Don't worry about Hector. my headache--not yours. INT. BRODRICK'S OFFICE -- NIGHT He's

We see empty cartons of Chinese food on the desk. Brodrick sits behind his desk and stares out the window while Janan flips through the accounts payable book. JANAN I think we have the expenses in fairly good order. Hector shouldn't have much to complain about. Janan looks up. We see Brodrick staring out the window into the darkness. Janan slowly leans forward. JANAN Are you okay? Brodrick looks at her and appears distracted. BRODRICK Hmm? What? JANAN Do you feel like talking? Brodrick studies her a moment then smiles charmingly and points his pen at her. BRODRICK You need to stop practicing that child psychology of yours on me. I must owe you a small fortune in back fees by now. JANAN I can't help it, I love getting into people's minds.

BRODRICK You must be an expert on my psychosis by now. What's the prognosis? Am I ready for the loony bin--or just some casual shock therapy? JANAN Either would be a bit extreme. It's only been a year--give it some time. It's okay to fall apart once in awhile. BRODRICK Scary thought. Janan moves closer and sits on the edge of his desk facing him. JANAN It was a boating accident, despite what Stan says. You shouldn't punish yourself over it. I'm sure you miss her very much. Brodrick studies her a moment, appears uncomfortable, and then looks out the window as if in thought. Of course. BRODRICK She was--unique.

Brodrick looks back at her, smiles cheerfully, and stands. BRODRICK I believe my therapy session is just about over. With these long hours, it's no wonder the others talk. I should be a little more sensitive to the office gossip and not keep you so late. JANAN I really don't mind. BRODRICK Mind what? The late hours or the gossip? Janan appears embarrassed and stands. tired but manages a smile. She appears very

JANAN Take your pick. I'm too tired to debate it.

BRODRICK Would you like a ride home? JANAN Actually, I think I'll just sleep on the couch in my office. It's too late to bother traveling. I have my travel bag. Brodrick casually collapses into his chair. BRODRICK I prefer that idea myself. I've spent many nights on my office sofa. Need a pillow? I have an extra one. JANAN Actually, I have one myself. Thanks. Good night, Brodrick. Brodrick leans back in his chair and shuts his eyes. BRODRICK Good night, Janan. Janan turns and leaves the office. INT. MUSEUM LOBBY

We see dim lighting surrounding the massive dinosaur bones. They cast haunting shadows. Janan tiredly scratches her head as she walks from the rest rooms, across the exhibit, and back toward the office area. We see a large figure move around the exhibit in the darkness and suddenly appear before her. Janan cries out. We see security guard NORTON CASTOR before her. He's a large, black man with a shaved head and a baby face. He appears equally alarmed. Both relax. JANAN Norton, you startled me. NORTON Me? You nearly jump-started my heart. What are you doing here so late? JANAN Didn't Hector tell you I was working late? Norton shakes his head.

JANAN I sometimes wonder if he does that on purpose. NORTON Ah, Hector's a good guy. Not the warmest at times, but he's okay. JANAN I swear you like everyone. NORTON Yeah-(frowns) Not Leeza. That girl tried to get me in trouble last week. JANAN Cato warned you about her. NORTON Yeah, but Cato has something rude to say about everyone. With his saucy personality, he shouldn't judge. JANAN I wish you two would learn to get along. NORTON He's arrogant and immature. JANAN We'll need to save the Cato debate for another time. I'm going to my office to sleep. I'll see you in the morning. Yeah, sure. Janan walks past him. JANAN Night, Norton. Norton continues across the exhibit toward the security office on the other end of the lobby and whistles a soft, cheerful tune. INT. SECURITY OFFICE NORTON Good night, Janan.

Norton enters the office. We see a wall of television monitors and recording devices. He removes his night stick and flashlight and sets them on the counter.

He collapses in the chair and pours himself some coffee from a nearby pot. He looks around the counter. NORTON Where's the sugar? We see a picture on a lower screen. A dark figure moves past the camera's view. Norton finds some sugar and adds it to his coffee. He looks back at the screens. Two screens are full of static. Norton sits forward and adjusts the monitor. He groans. NORTON Why is it always the basement cameras with the problems? Norton stands and takes his night stick and flashlight with him. Janan steps around the corner in the hallway. A dark figure suddenly leaps out before her. Janan cries out with surprise. She's grabbed and thrown against the wall. We see Stan standing before her in the dim lighting. He holds a switchblade knife before her face. STAN Well, well. What do we have here? You must be Brodrick's new mistress. Tell me--did he kill her to be with you? Janan appears horrified while eyeing him and the knife. JANAN I don't know what you're talking about. STAN Don't play dumb with me! Brodrick murdered my sisters to avoid a messy divorce then disposed of their bodies. He almost got away with it. I don't intend to kill him just yet. First, I want him to find his young lover--dead and mutilated. Stan lowers the knife to her throat. Janan gasps and suddenly kicks him in the groin. Stan groans and clutches himself. Janan runs along the corridor and into her office. INT. JANAN'S OFFICE -- CONTINUOUS

Janan shuts and locks the door then grabs the phone. She pauses. It's dead! She gasps and drops the phone. The door vibrates several times. Janan looks to the door then looks around the office. The glass is suddenly smashed. Stan reaches inside and unlocks the door. He enters the office with a devious grin. Janan lets out a startled cry and bolts behind her desk. She has her right hand behind her back. Stan lunges across the desk for her. She hits him between the eyes with a stapler. He pulls back with surprise and pain. Janan lunges forward and rams a pencil into his neck. Stan cries out and jumps away from the desk. Janan bolts around the desk and out of the office.

Stan gasps several times and pulls the pencil from his neck. He chases after her. INT. HALLWAY -- CONTINUOUS Janan runs along the office hallway and skids before Brodrick's office. Stan grins. He jumps around the exhibit. Someone moves in the darkness beneath the exhibit and grabs Stan's ankles. Stan's legs are pulled out from beneath him. His back harshly strikes the floor. He's pulled beneath the exhibit while screaming. We hear a brutal, harsh chopping sound. There's a garbled cry then silence. Blood rapidly seeps out from under the exhibit. INT. SECURITY OFFICE

Darkness. Janan hides behind the desk while clutching a night stick. We see the shadow of someone before the security door. The door is jiggled slightly then opens. Janan cries out, leaps forward, and swings the night stick. We see it's Norton in the doorway. He catches the night stick and throws Janan against the console. He quickly turns on the lights. Both appear surprised to see the other.

Janan? right?

NORTON Oh, my God. Are you all

Janan straightens with relief and hugs Norton. JANAN Oh, Norton--thank God! tried to kill me! That man

We see several police officers milling about the museum lobby. A police officer takes photos of the scene. Another officer stands before Brodrick and Janan. Brodrick holds Janan in his arms while staring at the officer. The officer studies Janan. She clings to Brodrick with her head to his chest and doesn't look at the officer. OFFICER You didn't see what happened after you ran into the office? Janan lifts her head from Brodrick's chest and glares at the officer with apparent annoyance. JANAN No. I told you, I didn't see or hear anything.

OFFICER A man was beheaded thirty feet away and you didn't hear anything? JANAN No, nothing. Brodrick glares at the officer while gently rubbing Janan's shoulder. CATO There's something you need to know. Brodrick took off this morning. There's a warrant out for his arrest. Hector quickly approaches them.

HECTOR He's making it look very bad for himself. JANAN Where did he go? Does anyone know? Why would he run? HECTOR The police think he may have gone to that remote island of his. They're not too happy either. They want to reopen the investigation of his wife and brother's death. JANAN Brodrick didn't kill that man. I know he didn't. I just need to talk to him. HECTOR You've had a rough night, Janan. Why don't you take the rest of the week off? By then, this entire matter should be cleared up. JANAN No, I don't want to sit at home. How do I get to his island? HECTOR I was only there once. I doubt I could find my way back. The police don't need us in the way. JANAN Hector--please. HECTOR I suppose we could go there to collect some of Brodrick's personal museum possessions. He always talked about bringing them here. I think the boat captain who took us there still lives around here. He knows where to find the island. We see LEEZA HUNTLY approaching from the office area. an attractive, slinky woman in her late twenties. LEEZA You guys look like you're up to something. What's going on? She's

The water is blue and calm. We see the yacht cruising through the ocean. Janan stands by the railing and stares at the water rushing past. Leeza approaches and leans on the rail near her. LEEZA So--why are we really going to Brodrick's island? Are the police going to arrest Brodrick? JANAN Just collecting some paintings-that's all. LEEZA Do you think Brodrick did it? Janan glares at her with hostility and annoyance. JANAN No--I do not.

LEEZA I know you and Brodrick have a little thing going on, but you shouldn't allow that to-JANAN There's nothing going on between us. LEEZA Sure there isn't. Janan gives Leeza an icy stare. Leeza appears uncomfortable then turns and walks away. She nearly collides with Cato. She ignores him and continues across deck. Cato watches her with a look of annoyance. He approaches Janan near the rail. CATO What put a fire under her ass? JANAN She's the one who's been spreading those rumors about me and Brodrick. CATO Big surprise there. She's just jealous because Brodrick has a thing for you. Janan eyes Cato with apparent surprise then looks over the railing and appears to sulk. JANAN He doesn't have a thing for me. He thinks of me as his little sister. CATO Okay--whatever you say, Janan. JANAN You really think Brodrick has a thing for me? CATO Of course--it's almost as obvious as the thing you have for him. JANAN I don't have a thing for Brodrick.

CATO Oh, please. The sexual tension between the two of you is so strong, the rest of us need cold showers when you leave the room. CATO Ask your friend, Mr. Straight and Serious. He'll tell you. JANAN Will you stop picking on Norton. Cato leans on the rail with a low groan. CATO I can't help myself. Lucky me, I get to share a cabin with him. Mister 'I iron my socks' probably spends an hour in the bathroom. (mutters) Probably starches his socks too. Cato hesitates and his look turns serious. CATO He's behind me, isn't he? Cato straightens and turns. We see Janan attempting a smile at Norton. Norton glares at Cato with a stern, serious expression. CATO (cheerful) Hey, Norton. NORTON Don't hey Norton me. JANAN Cato, apologize to Norton. CATO I'm sorry-NORTON Man, you have a serious attitude problem. I just hope you never have to watch my back. Norton turns and walks away. returns the look. CATO What? CATO What do you call what I just did now? I even apologized to the talking dildo. Janan shakes her head and leans over the rail. INT. YACHT LOUNGE -- NIGHT

We see the almost elegant lounge with a fishing theme to it, which includes a small harpoon gun hanging on the wall as decoration. Norton plays a lively song on a small, upright piano while Cato and Janan play a card game. Leeza sits on the sofa and glares at Razi, who sits at the bar alongside Hector. She giggles and hangs on his shoulder. Dayne enters the lounge. He closes the door behind him. DAYNE We've anchored for the night. We'll start first thing tomorrow morning. Should be there around noon. Razi giggles at something Hector says. Dayne approaches the bar and pulls Razi from her chair and away from the bar. She cries out with surprise. His look is cold and mean. DAYNE Go to your room. They all watch with some surprise. No one comments. Janan tosses her cards to the table while glaring at Dayne's turned back. Cato casually places his hand on her arm and subtly shakes his head. Razi leaves the lounge. Dayne glares at the others around the room then leaves as well. Hector continues to casually sip his drink. HECTOR Very charming man. JANAN (mutters) Just keep him away from me. EXT. YACHT -- DAY

Dayne turns on several outboard lights as they approach the dark opening. The yacht passes inside. INT. BASEMENT

Water floods the entire, massive basement. Despite the water, the ceiling remains ten feet above the top of the yacht. Everyone looks around with nervous awe, including Dayne. We see a police patrol boat anchored near the staircase railing. HECTOR (points) There! Razi stares at the interior of the mansion basement. It appears to extend forever through catacombs of archways in marble and stone. She rubs her arms with a look of concern. RAZI How creepy is this? LEEZA This was a bad idea. Let's just get the artifacts and get the hell out of here before the entire house sinks. CATO The house isn't sinking. Hector climbs from the railing to the stairs just below water. He grabs the railing for support then turns. They all climb down the boat's ladder onto the underwater steps. Cato walks up the water covered steps behind Janan. Dayne drops the anchor. There's a thunderous echo as the anchor hits the underwater marble floor. Everyone jumps then nervously looks around. INT. KITCHEN

Hector and Cato hand towels to the others from the nearby laundry room. They dry their arms and legs, although most are wet up to the waist. Norton pushes open the swinging kitchen door and peers into the hallway. He allows the door to swing back into place and faces them. NORTON This place is huge. How are we ever going to find him? HECTOR It'd probably be best if we split up. Cato places his arm around Janan.

CATO Janan and I'll take the top floor. NORTON I think I'd better pair up with Janan. CATO She's my friend. She goes with me. Norton appears annoyed. JANAN Can we just go? Janan turns and leaves the kitchen. Cato, Norton, and Hector watch her leave then look at one another. Norton and Cato both turn and hurry after her. DAYNE Razi and I will wait here. Razi looks at Dayne with disappointment. joins Hector and smiles warmly. LEEZA I'll go with you, Hector. Hector extends his hand toward the door, allowing Leeza to go first. They pause on the landing. Norton pauses to look over the railing to the first floor hallway below. Cato looks up to the third floor. CATO Second or third? JANAN I don't know. Leeza looks around with an expression of awe. LEEZA There must be a small fortune in paintings alone. Why would Brodrick just leave them here? Hector walks across the room and studies several paintings. HECTOR It's a mystery to me. Perhaps he thought he would come back for them. LEEZA I had no idea Brodrick was so-loaded. It must be nice to have that kind of money.

Leeza eyes the painting and raises a brow. LEEZA It's ugly. HECTOR You're right. Leeza approaches a sculpture and runs her finger across the thick dust. A sly smile crosses her face. JANAN Back off, Dayne! Dayne roughly shoves Janan aside and into Norton, who catches her. Cato attempts to bolt for Dayne but is stopped by Hector. Brodrick suddenly grabs Dayne by the throat and slams him into the nearby wall. Dayne struggles against the hand on his throat. Brodrick stares into Dayne's eyes with a harsh and psychotic look.

Brodrick touches Janan's shoulder and offers a tiny smile. BRODRICK You okay? JANAN No harm done. LEEZA (disgust) Okay, Professor and Mary Ann, give it a rest. Now that we've pissed off the boat captain, what's our plan for getting off this island? Brodrick quickly removes his hand from Janan's shoulder and appears embarrassed. Dayne hurries onto deck, looks at Norton, and then in the direction he stares. Norton removes his jacket and jumps into the water. You fool! DAYNE Where are you going?

Norton swims across the basement toward the area where he'd seen the woman. He swims toward the archway and stops near the next room. He looks around. NORTON Where'd you go? JANAN Don't you trust me? Brodrick looks at her, offers a tiny smile, and then takes her hand. BRODRICK Of course, I do. But I have a few well guarded secrets-skeletons in my closet. It wouldn't be fair to subject you to them. JANAN Your brother-in-law and two police officers are dead. I've already been subjected. Brodrick gives her hand a slight squeeze then releases it. He quickly stands. BRODRICK I'd better check on Hector and the radio. Stay with Cato, you'll be fine. Brodrick leaves the room. Janan watches him with some confusion. Cato stares after Brodrick then approaches Janan and sits alongside her. CATO Everything okay? JANAN I don't think so. He's not acting right. CATO So I've noticed. At the risk of our friendship and my job, do you think it's possible he's gone psycho? JANAN He's not a killer, but he's certainly traumatized by something. Cato places a hand on Janan's shoulder and comforts her. Leeza enters the billiard room and looks at them. LEEZA Where's Brodrick? JANAN He went to the study to check on you and Hector.

LEEZA The radio's not working. Hector went to find some tools to repair it. Funny, I didn't pass Brodrick. INT. YACHT CONTROL ROOM

There's no response. He walks along deck then pauses. We see water spots on the deck from the railing. Dayne follows the water droplets to the lounge door. He opens the door and looks inside. He appears confused then frowns and returns to the control room. Dayne approaches the doorway then suddenly stops with an odd look. DAYNE What the-We see the blur of something slash from the lounge doorway at Dayne. Dayne gasps and clutches his throat. His gasp becomes garbled as blood seeps from between his fingers. Norton half flops in the foot deep water on the floor. He slowly stands and looks around with the use of his flashlight. We see shelves and shelves of wine. Several rotted crates float in the shallow water. NORTON What a waste. We hear a thump against the door. Norton jumps and stares at the door. He quickly bolts it and breaths a relieved sigh. He slowly walks across the wine cellar and toward the stairs. We see the furnace and generator in the corner. Norton slowly approaches the generator and examines it. He turns the switch to on. It cranks and the lights come on. He looks back at the generator. NORTON That was too easy. We hear a bang against the outer door. Norton stares at the door with a look of horror then turns and hurries up the stairs.

BILLIARD ROOM

Razi, Cato, Leeza, and Janan all look up when the lights come on. Janan continues to pace the entrance to the billiard room. She looks at her watch with nervous anxiety. Leeza sits on the window seat. Razi sits at the bar and stares at her drink while Cato stands behind the bar. He watches Janan a moment then looks back at Razi. CATO It's really none of my business, but why do you take that crap from Dayne. RAZI He was in the right place at the right time. CATO That's no excuse to stay with him. RAZI I know, but it's not easy leaving a guy like Dayne. It could be hazardous to a girl's health. CATO So could staying with him. Brodrick enters the billiard room and nearly collides with Janan. She appears relieved. Leeza quickly approaches. JANAN Was Hector able to fix the radio? BRODRICK I didnt see Hector, but I did fix the radio. The storm is affecting the signal. We can radio for help once the storm passes. LEEZA Shouldn't we look for Hector? BRODRICK Even with the generator running, it's too dark. We should move to the study, so we can continue our attempt to contact the mainland. I want to collect Norton and that captain.

JANAN I'm going with you. BRODRICK Absolutely not. You'll be safer in the study with Cato. JANAN Damn it, Brodrick--don't argue with me. All eyes are on Janan. Brodrick appears equally surprised. He stares at her a moment. BRODRICK All right, but stay close. Janan nods. Cato tosses his head back and groans his disapproval. CATO Damn it, Brodrick. Who wears the pants in this family? BRODRICK (to Cato) Take the others to the study. We'll be along shortly. Brodrick and Janan leave the billiard room. Cato watches them leave with a concerned look on his face. Janan fidgets and appears concerned.

JANAN I don't like this. BRODRICK Wait here. I'm going onboard to have a look around. Brodrick steps down to the underwater step. Janan doesn't release him. He turns and looks back at her. Her look is unnerved. JANAN Oh, no--you're not leaving me here alone! Brodrick sighs and takes her hand. He leads her into the water and to the boat ladder. He allows her to climb the ladder first. We see something move within the water. Brodrick holds onto the ladder and eyes the water beneath him. He turns and climbs the ladder. EXT. YACHT DECK -- NIGHT

Brodrick forcefully moves Janan across the deck to the ladder. Janan pulls free from him with irritation. JANAN Damn it, Brodrick. Stop pushing me around! BRODRICK Just this once, you're going to listen to me--for your own good. JANAN Talk about split personalities. She climbs onto the ladder and into the water. Brodrick frowns then looks to the water below. We see something move beneath the surface near Janan. He appears alarmed. Janan! BRODRICK Get to the steps!

Janan looks up to him then to the water. We see something move near her. She gasps, hurries to the stairs, climbs onto them, and then looks around the water. She looks back to Brodrick on the ship's deck. Brodrick slowly climbs onto the ladder and looks around before climbing down. He hurries through the water and joins her. What was that? JANAN Was it a shark?

BRODRICK I don't think so. INT. STUDY

Razi and Leeza each sleep on a leather sofa within the study. Cato plays with a trinket on the desk he sits behind. He looks to the drawer and casually opens it. We see the newspaper clippings. Cato removes them and looks at them. We see the headlines that read: Four people missing; millionaire prime suspect. CATO Shit! Cato flies up from his seat and hurries to Razi's sofa. He shakes her until she wakes. She jerks and gasps. He shows her the article. Razi skims through the article. RAZI I don't understand.

CATO Brodrick said they died in a boating accident, but these articles claim he found them murdered here in the house--only no bodies were found. RAZI Do you think he killed them? CATO I don't know. I have to go after Janan. She could be in danger. Lock the door behind me. Don't open the door for Brodrick unless Janan's with him. Understand? Razi nods. INT. Cato hurries from the room.

HECTOR He never listens. You know that. BRODRICK Where did you disappear to? HECTOR I was looking for tools to fix the radio. BRODRICK If you'd actually looked at the radio, you would have noticed the wires were only cut. HECTOR I don't know what you're getting at, Brodrick, but I'm not the one facing the death penalty for homicide. Hector turns and leaves the room. BRODRICK He's acting stranger than usual. I'd love to know what he's up too. INT. STUDY

Hector, Brodrick, and Janan enter the study where Leeza and Razi wait nervously. Razi shuts the door behind them. RAZI Where are the others? HECTOR Dayne's dead. RAZI What? Brodrick glares at Hector then looks at Razi with a degree of gentleness.

BRODRICK We found him onboard his ship. As soon as the weather clears, we'll be able contact the mainland and wait for the police. RAZI What about Norton and Cato? BRODRICK I'm going to look for them. I want everyone else to remain here. HECTOR Why? So you can pick us off one at a time? Janan glares at Hector with annoyance. JANAN Shut up, Hector. HECTOR Brodrick is the only one who had reason to kill those cops. JANAN How do we know how long they were dead? Who's to say they weren't killed after our arrival? You were alone most of the time yourself. HECTOR You're accusing me? I'm your boss--you just remember that. BRODRICK No, I'm her boss--you remember that. I'm going to find Cato and Norton. Everyone just stay here. Brodrick leaves the room. Hector. Janan once again glares at

JANAN Leave Brodrick alone, Hector. I'll worry about him. HECTOR He's dangerous and can't be trusted.

LEEZA And you're baiting him. Just leave him alone! God knows we don't want him killing anyone else. Janan rolls her eyes. INT. LOUNGE

NORTON Why would he lie? CATO To avoid suspicion. INT. STUDY Why else?

Hector, Janan, Razi, and Leeza sit in the study and stare at one another. We hear a knock at the door. All four jump. It's Cato. CATO (O.S.) Are you guys there?

They all spring to their feet. JANAN Cato-Janan hurries to the door, unlocks, and opens it. Cato and Norton enter. Janan hugs both with a look of relief. JANAN I'm so glad to see you guys! was afraid something had happened. Something has. We heard. RAZI (to Norton) We thought you were dead too. NORTON Almost. I was chased by someone or something. HECTOR Brodrick, perhaps? NORTON No. I swear I saw a woman drowning in the depths of the basement. When I went to help her, she tried to drown me. A woman? RAZI What woman? I

CATO I found Dayne-HECTOR

Norton looks to the painting of Gina above the fireplace. He stares a moment with surprise then points to the painting.

NORTON It was her! They all look at the painting. Hector glares at him.

HECTOR That's impossible. She's dead. NORTON Yeah, she looked dead too. I'm telling you, it was her. Like-a zombie or something. She was wearing this white nightgown and her skin was all grey, like death. HECTOR Have you been drinking? NORTON I'm telling the truth. what I saw. I know

HECTOR Then we'd better arm ourselves with crosses and stakes. LEEZA That only works on vampires, stupid. Hector glares at Leeza. We suddenly hear a loud bang on the study door. The door vibrates. Everyone jumps. We hear several gasps. Everyone remains still. Razi clings to Cato's arm. He stares at the door and pulls her against him. The door vibrates several more times. Razi buries her head into Cato's chest. Leeza lets out a scream. The pounding ceases. Silence. They all look at one another. Hector slowly approaches the door. Cato appears alarmed. CATO I may be a moron, but I know from watching horror movies, opening the door is a death wish. Hector ignores Cato and reaches for the lock. He slowly unlocks the door and opens it. There's no one there. Hector slowly steps into the doorway. Brodrick suddenly appears. Hector jumps and everyone screams. Norton and Janan appear relieved and quickly approach Brodrick. Brodrick looks at the others with annoyance.

BRODRICK What's with you people? You were supposed to keep this door locked. NORTON Did you see it? See what? you. BRODRICK I've been looking for

JANAN Something tried to break down the door. Brodrick stares at Janan then looks to the others. BRODRICK Okay. Enough of mass paranoia. Has anyone attempted to contact the mainland recently? LEEZA About every fifteen minutes. keep getting static. I

BRODRICK I suggest we arm ourselves. There are some antique swords on the gallery wall. They could use a little sharpening, but they should work. I'll need some help-Janan steps forward and is about to volunteer. Cato takes her arm and pulls her back. She eyes him. Norton quickly approaches. NORTON I'll go with you, Brodrick. Both men turn to the doorway and leave. locks the door. Hector shuts and

Twenty minutes later. Everyone appears either nervous or bored. We hear a static-filled voice on the radio. Leeza lunges for the radio receiver. Hello? LEEZA Do you read us? Over.

We can barely hear the male voice on the other end. PATROL (V.O.) This is harbor patrol. I read you. Over.

Everyone quickly gathers around Leeza and the radio. LEEZA We're stranded on Brodrick Vladimire's Island. We need emergency assistance. PATROL (V.O.) Vladimire's Island? That island no longer exists. Give me your location. Over. Leeza fumbles with some old maps. LEEZA I can give you the coordinates. Razi quickly joins her and helps with the maps. They read off coordinates. Janan watches both women then looks to the glass doors behind the partially opened curtain just behind them. We see something move past the window. Hector and Cato both look to the glass doors as Leeza quickly stands and turns. The glass door suddenly shatters. Everyone screams and jumps with surprise. A harpoon strikes Leeza in the mid section and comes out her back. Everyone screams again, this time with cries of horror. As Leeza thrashes painfully, the radio is cast from the desk and crashes to the floor, now broken and smoking. Leeza's suddenly yanked from the room by the rope and is cast over the railing. Hector runs for the door, throws it open, and bolts from the room with fear and horror. Cato, Janan, and Razi stare at the broken door and the blood within the shattered glass. They scream and run from the room as well. INT. HALL -- CONTINUOUS Razi, Janan, and Cato run into the hallway. They nearly collide with Norton. Everyone screams. We see Norton holding a sword in each hand. What happened? screaming. NORTON I heard

Cato takes one of the swords and hurries him along the hallway. CATO Leeza's been killed. Brodrick? Where's

NORTON I don't know. He was right behind me in the gallery, and then he suddenly vanished.

CATO We need to get out of here! They hurry along the hall. Janan brings up the rear. She looks behind her. When she turns, she collides with Brodrick. Janan lets out a startled scream, alarming the others. They quickly turn. Brodrick also carries two antique swords. BRODRICK What's going on? You were supposed to wait in the study. JANAN Oh, Brodrick--Leeza's dead! Dead? BRODRICK What happened?

CATO There's no time for this. We need to get the hell out of here! RAZI Maybe the patrol will come. Leeza got the message out. We should wait in the basement. NORTON It's not safe down there. The cabin doors are only coated press board. BRODRICK We can wait in the attic. There's only one staircase leading up and the elevator. We can barricade the stairs and lock out the elevator. When help arrives, we can take the elevator straight down to the basement. NORTON Sounds like a plan. Let's go. Brodrick hands Janan his extra sword and leads them to the elevator. Razi and Janan follow. Cato stops Norton with a serious look. CATO Do you think we can trust him? NORTON What choice do we have?

Both men hurry after the others. INT. ELEVATOR Everyone

Brodrick pulls shut the iron gate on the elevator. tenses as the elevator jerks and jolts upward. CATO That doesn't sound good. BRODRICK Probably needs some oil after a year of non-use.

The elevator jerks to a harsh stop on the fourth floor. Brodrick pulls open the iron door. The wood doors open on their own. INT. ATTIC -- CONTINUOUS

We see the dimly lit, large open attic area that runs the entire length of the house. There are some old items stored with covers over them, but the clutter is at a minimum. The five leave the elevator. Brodrick searches for the lights while the others look around. The lights come on. Several bulbs burn out, so it's not brightly lit, but we can see the attic appears to extend forever. NORTON This attic's bigger than most homes I've been inside. BRODRICK We should secure the stairs and determine if the attic is safe before making ourselves comfortable. Both Norton and Cato look across the dimly lit attic then back at one another. Both appear nervous. NORTON You wanna go, Man? CATO No--I don't think so. NORTON We could go together. CATO That's better. Cato and Norton each take a sword and walk toward the unknown regions of the attic. Brodrick looks from the stairs to Janan and Razi.

BRODRICK You two wait here. You'll be safe. I'm going to block off the stairs. I'll only be a few minutes. Brodrick walks toward the stairs. He locks the door and pushes a dresser before it then checks it for security. Janan approaches him. He turns with some surprise then relaxes. BRODRICK I thought you were going to wait with Razi? JANAN What's going on, Brodrick? me the truth. Tell

Brodrick stares at her, frowns, and then leans against the dresser. BRODRICK My wife and brother weren't killed in a boating accident. They were murdered. Janan appears horrified. BRODRICK My wife and I hadn't gotten along very well--almost from the beginning. The night she died, we got into a terrible fight. I was angry and irrational. I just wanted her out of my life. Janan appears concerned and uncomfortable. BRODRICK I'd been playing around with an old book I'd found on black magic. I put a curse upon her. I never expected it would really work. Next thing I knew, the house was under attack by someone or something. There was no one else in the house, I swear to you. The others were all killed. I was lucky to have escaped. JANAN So you believe you cursed your house?

BRODRICK Just look around. The island is eroding out from beneath us. People are dying. I can't explain what's happening, but I'm not the one killing them, I swear. JANAN I never thought you had, Brodrick. But I don't believe your house is cursed either. BRODRICK Then how do you explain what's going on around here? Norton, of all people, thinks he saw a zombie. If Norton's paranoid, there's reason to be concerned. JANAN There must be another explanation. I know you're not the killer, but I just can't buy into ghosts, zombies, or curses either. BRODRICK You're the only one here who doesn't think I'm a killer. Why, Janan? JANAN Because I know you better than that. And I trust you. I trust you with my life. Brodrick smiles warmly and takes her hand in his and gently caresses it. BRODRICK You're far too good to me, Janan. Just by knowing you, I've put you in danger. I don't know how you can still care about me. JANAN Because--I love you. Brodrick returns the stare with a look of surprise. Neither says a word. He slowly leans toward her and gently kisses her on the lips. He then pulls away and looks into her eyes. Brodrick suddenly pulls her in his arms and kisses her more passionately. Janan immediately returns the kiss. Brodrick slowly breaks off the kiss and meets her gaze. He smiles with some embarrassment.

BRODRICK I'd been meaning to do that for awhile. Janan returns the smile. JANAN What took you so long? Brodrick snorts a laugh, pulls her against him, and once more kisses her. We hear Razi scream from the nearby elevator. They break off the kiss and look across the attic. We see Razi dancing around a fat rat as it scurries. Brodrick holds back his smile then looks back at Janan. He gently caresses her back while holding her against him. BRODRICK I think you're absolutely crazy, Janan. Have I ever told you that? JANAN Not exactly the sediments I was hoping for. Brodrick laughs softly and kisses her quickly on the lips. BRODRICK Given the situation, most women would've turned and run from me by now. It's no wonder I find you completely irresistible. Brodrick releases her and caresses her shoulders. BRODRICK I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but I have to find that spell book. I need to undo whatever I've done. JANAN Brodrick, don't go. BRODRICK I have to, Janan. If this is by my power, then it's up to me to stop it. He unlocks the door. BRODRICK Lock the door behind me. JANAN Brodrick, no!

BRODRICK I'll be back, I promise. Brodrick kisses her quickly then hurries from the room and shuts the door behind him. Janan holds back her sob and strikes the door. She locks the door, casts her back against it, and fights back her tears. INT. YACHT CONTROL ROOM

We see Hector hurry around the boat helm. He replaces a small part and starts the boat. It immediately starts. Hector hurries out of the control room. EXT. YACHT DECK -- CONTINUOUS

Hector approaches the anchor and throws a switch to raise it. We see several antiques and paintings near the control room wall. We see something move along deck in a blur. Hector pauses and looks around. We see nothing. Once the anchor is completely raised, he hurries back to the control room. Hector suddenly stops in the doorway and slowly backs out. He appears nervous and attempts a smile. HECTOR What are you doing back so soon? I, uh, thought you were taking care of Brodrick. INT. ATTIC

Janan sits on the dresser near the door. She appears deep in thought. Across the attic, near the elevator, we see Razi looking over some old antiques. Razi removes a sheet to reveal her reflection in an antique mirror. She gasps with surprise, jumps, and then relaxes. She laughs softly then attempts to fix her mussed hair. We see someone move past in the mirror's reflection. Razi becomes still. She looks sideways without moving her head. We see Janan still on the dresser near the door. Razi looks back into the mirror and checks out the area behind her. Nothing moves. She looks below the mirror. We see an old cane with a brass handle near her. She reaches for the cane and looks back into the mirror past her reflection. Something in white moves. Razi clutches the cane and whirls around. There's no one there. She slowly walks forward a couple of steps and looks to either side of her. Razi eyes Janan from across the attic. Janan sees Razi's concerned expression. Janan quickly springs to her feet and looks around. She snatches her antique sword and cautiously hurries toward Razi. Both women look around with concern. Gina, looking like a zombie, suddenly leaps out from behind some furniture and tackles Razi to the floor.

Razi cries out with surprise and horror. She strikes Gina in the face with the cane. Gina is thrown back long enough for Razi to scramble out from under her and to her feet. Janan appears equally surprised and horrified. Janan coils back with the sword and prepares to strike Gina. We see Corine suddenly appear and tackle Janan from behind. She too appears clay colored and as if she's returned from the grave. Across the attic. Norton and Cato walk along the attic with their swords in their hands. CATO I still think you're wrong. There's absolutely no way Brodrick's wife could've been in the basement. She's dead-NORTON I'm telling you what I saw. It was a woman--the same woman from that painting. She was--like a zombie or something. CATO There's no such thing. God, when did you become unbalanced. You're supposed to be the serious one, remember? No. If you really saw Brodrick's wife in the basement, that can only mean one thing. Brodrick and his wife are in on it together. The newspaper clippings said his wife was murdered. It's obvious they faked her death. NORTON For what possible reason? Insurance? Come on, the man's loaded. Besides, I know for a fact he and his wife didn't get along. He confided it to me one night shortly after the incident. He told me this island was cursed--and I believe him. We suddenly hear Razi scream. Both men look ahead to the distant elevator. We see Razi struggling against Gina with the cane between them. Norton appears alarmed and points. NORTON That's her! That's the woman! Think I'm crazy now?

They run across the attic. We see Janan cast Corine to the floor. Gina pulls Corine to her feet. They turn to see Cato and Norton running toward them with their swords drawn. Both women run across the attic. Norton chases after them. They seem to disappear into the depths of the enormous attic. Norton stops then returns to the others. Cato helps Razi to her feet and fusses over her. CATO Are you okay? RAZI Just barely. Janan nervously looks around while clutching her sword. JANAN We're in serious trouble. Did you get a look at them? They looked-NORTON Dead. That's what I've been trying to tell everyone. Why don't you guys ever listen to me? They look around the attic with nervous anticipation. remains shaken and frightened. RAZI I suggest we head for the boats. NORTON It's certainly not safe here. JANAN It's not safe anywhere. CATO I'd rather take my chances waiting on the boat. Cato takes Janan's arm and pulls her to the elevator. Norton and Razi hurry after them. All four enter the elevator. INT. ELEVATOR -- CONTINUOUS Razi

Norton pulls the iron gate shut. Cato hits the basement button. The wooden doors close and the elevator jolts and jerks downward. We hear a thump on top of the elevator. The elevator jumps and rocks. We hear something move around on top of the elevator roof. All four look up. The sound ceases. The elevator jerks to a stop. The wooden doors open. Water floods in through the metal gate. Razi and Janan scream as the water quickly fills the elevator.

NORTON Shit! Come on. it. CATO We need to swim for

They swim out of the elevator now filled with water. INT. BASEMENT

CATO You'll see--you're going the wrong way. The water gurgles behind Cato. He doesn't appear to notice. We see an opening in the tunnel ahead of them. They swim through it. We see the docked patrol boat and the free floating yacht with its engine running. Cato stops swimming and frowns. CATO Okay, so he was right. We see Hector on the boat deck. He appears to be walking around aimlessly. The others notice him as well. NORTON Look, it's Hector. He must've fixed the boat! Norton, Janan, and Razi swim for the boat. The water once more gurgles around Cato. Cato stops in the water and nervously looks around. CATO What the hell-Janan stops swimming and looks back to Cato. We see the concern on Cato's face as he looks around the water surrounding him. JANAN Cato--you coming? CATO There's something in the water! Janan stares at him and then the surrounding area. We see Corine rise out of the water behind Cato and grab him around the neck. Cato cries out with surprise. JANAN Cato! Corine pulls Cato beneath the water. Janan swims toward them. We see the water bubbling and thrashing. Janan dives under the water. INT. UNDERWATER -- CONTINUOUS We see Corine holding the thrashing Cato under the water. Janan swims toward them and strikes Corine in the side with the tip of the sword. Corine releases Cato and clutches her bleeding side. Cato pulls away and swims for the surface along with Janan.

INT. BASEMENT -- CONTINUOUS Cato and Janan reach the surface and gasp. CATO Jesus! Don't those dead chicks ever give up? Janan urges him for the stairs. They swim to the underwater stairs and collapse on the steps just above the water level. Both nervously look around the water for signs of Corine. She doesn't appear. Cato touches his side. He has a small scratch from the sword that had partially grazed him as well. CATO I thought Brodrick said those swords weren't sharp? JANAN Apparently the tip was plenty sharp. Cato looks along the water then to the boats. We see Razi and Norton climbing up the ladder and onto the now distant yacht. Both turn to the boat railing and look to Cato and Janan on the steps. NORTON What's going on? You guys okay? CATO For now. Find Hector. See if he can get any closer to the steps. Norton nods. Norton and Razi hurry along deck and into the control room. Both Cato and Janan look to the water and search for any signs of Corine. The dolphin suddenly appears and chatters happily. Both jump and scream. CATO Jesus! We hear someone running down the steps. Both turn from their sitting position. Brodrick stops halfway down the steps and stares at them. We see he has the old spell book in his hands. BRODRICK What are you doing down here? You're supposed to be waiting in the attic. Is the coast guard on their way?

CATO Bright idea you had, Brodrick. You locked us in the attic with those zombie bitches from hell. BRODRICK What are you talking about? JANAN Your dead wife and her sister tried to kill us in the attic. BRODRICK That's impossible. CATO Norton was right. Son-of-abitch, he was right. They're zombies. They came back to life. BRODRICK (mutters) But it wasn't that sort of spell. JANAN Get a grip, Cato. They weren't zombies. Zombies don't bleed. Brodrick appears to sink into thought. His eyes suddenly widen with alarm. We hear the boat engine humming. Brodrick suddenly appears to notice the sound. He quickly looks to the distant yacht. BRODRICK The boat's running? JANAN Hector must've fixed it. Norton and Razi are onboard with him. BRODRICK This can't be good. I think I know what's been going on around here. And I think I know who's behind it. I want the two of you to wait here. Norton and Razi could be in danger. Brodrick approaches the water and quickly jumps in. tenderly holds his side and moans. CATO The man has seriously lost it. Cato

Janan watches Brodrick as he swims for the yacht. realization suddenly appears to hit her. Hector. them. JANAN Hector's in on it with

CATO What are you talking about? INT. YACHT LOUNGE

Norton and Razi enter the lounge and look around. The lights are still on. The room is empty. Both appear confused. NORTON Where do you suppose he got too? RAZI Hector? They approach the bar, look around, and then turn. We see Hector lying on the floor behind the sofa in a bloody heap. Razi screams hysterically. Norton quickly pulls her back toward the door while both stare helplessly at the site. Oh, shit! here. NORTON Let's get out of

Both turn and hurry for the lounge door. They nearly collide with Brodrick. Norton and Razi scream then relax. Brodrick doesn't appear startled. BRODRICK I heard screaming. What happened? NORTON Hector's been killed. Norton points toward the sofa. Brodrick approaches the sofa and looks behind it. He cringes then quickly joins them. BRODRICK We need to check over the boat and make certain no one else is onboard before we leave. INT. BASEMENT Brodrick approaches the deck near the railing and looks to the stairs. Janan and Cato are standing on the distant steps.

BRODRICK I'm going to bring the boat closer to you. Wait there. They nod. Brodrick hurries toward the control room. Janan and Cato look from Brodrick by the railing to the water separating them. They look at one another. Janan and Cato take two steps into the water and wait for the distant boat. We suddenly hear the dolphin chatter angrily. Hedrick explodes from the water before them. Both scream. There's nothing zombie in appearance about him. He's completely alive and healthy. Hedrick grabs Cato's arm and tosses him over top of him and into the water. Cato screams the entire way. Hedrick turns to Janan. She gasps, turns, and runs up the stairs. Brodrick appears from the control room in time to see Hedrick run after Janan. Brodrick appears horrified. Hedrick! bastard! INT. HALL BRODRICK Come back here, you

Janan runs along the hallway and briefly looks back. There's no one behind her. As Janan turns, we see Gina standing in her path with a knife in her hand. Janan cries out, attempts to stop, slides to the floor, and bowls over Gina. Gina topples to the floor. Janan scrambles to her feet. Gina grabs her ankle and pulls her along the floor toward her. Janan flips onto her back. Gina raises the knife and is about to stab her. Janan kicks Gina several times in the face. Gina releases her. Janan scrambles once more to her feet and turns. We see Corine standing in the hallway before her. Janan stops and looks back. Gina springs to her feet. Janan turns to her right and bolts into the library. INT. FIRST FLOOR LIBRARY -- CONTINUOUS

Janan runs for the open third floor door and collides with Hedrick. She gasps with surprise. He catches her by her shoulders and smirks. HEDRICK Surprise. This place is a maze of secret passageways. Hedrick runs his finger along Janan's cheek with a devious smile.

HEDRICK You're just as beautiful as Brodrick had said you were. Janan suddenly kicks Hedrick in the groin. He doubles over in agony. Janan pulls away from him. We hear thundering footfalls on the spiral stairs. Janan spins toward the stairs. We see Gina appear on the top of the stairs. Brodrick scales the spiral steps only a few feet behind Gina. Hedrick recovers and tackles Brodrick to the floor. Janan jumps from their path and nearly backs into Gina. Gina slashes the knife at Janan. Janan jumps backwards. She looks to the two men who punch and fight one another while rolling around the floor. Janan nervously looks for a weapon. There's nothing convenient. She looks back to Gina then makes a dash from the room. Gina chases after her. INT. FIRST FLOOR HALLWAY -- CONTINUOUS

Janan runs down the main staircase as fast as she can without falling. She reaches the first floor and rounds the banister. Corine suddenly appears in front of Janan. Janan spins. Gina appears at the bottom of the stairs and cuts off her path. Janan nervously looks from Corine to Gina as they close in on her. Cato suddenly appears behind Gina. He strikes her on the head with a frying pan from the kitchen. Gina collapses to the floor. Corine cries out and slashes Cato with her knife and slices his arm. Cato cries out and leaps backward with surprise. CATO You want me, bitch! get me! Come and

Cato turns and runs down the hallway. Corine chases after him. Cato screams like a lunatic as he runs. Janan is about to chase after him when Gina suddenly slams the knife into the floor, narrowly missing Janan's foot. Janan gasps with surprise and looks down. Gina slowly rises to her feet while breathing heavily with blood seeping down the side of her face. GINA You're going to pay for getting involved, Janan. Janan stares at her a moment with surprise. She suddenly hesitates then appears to put it all together. JANAN You were never dead. This was a set up from the start. GINA You should've stayed out of it.

JANAN And stand by while you framed Brodrick for murder? GINA Drugging his nightly brandy didn't seem to be working. All those drugs should have killed him. Faking our murders was Hedrick's idea. He was sure Annette would believe Brodrick was a killer and would shoot him. She always was too trusting when it came to him. Apparently, so are you. Janan becomes angry. JANAN That's because I love him. Enough to follow him here and enough to stop you from ever harming him again! GINA That's going to be tough to do when you're dead! Gina slashes the knife at her. Janan leaps out of the knifes path and bolts for the gallery doorway. INT. SECOND FLOOR LIBRARY

Brodrick and Hedrick are now on their feet punching one another. Hedrick grabs his discarded sword and attempts to slash Brodrick. Brodrick retrieves his own sword and both men face one another with determined looks. BRODRICK It was you all along? My own brother was having an affair with my wife. What happened, Hedrick? Your wealth wasn't enough to support the lifestyle she wanted? Hedrick appears angry. HEDRICK She would never leave you. This island was all she ever wanted. The only way I could ever have her for myself was to get rid of you. I couldn't allow you to divorce her or I'd lose her. The only way was to kill you.

HENDRICK (Cont) What she didn't know was I was the one who'd inherit the island from you--not her. I saw your will. It was the perfect plan until Annette ruined everything by trusting you--despite our little show. BRODRICK So you killed her too? And what was your plan this time? Kill Stan to frame me, or did you just want to lure me back here to have another shot at me? HEDRICK Oh, it's far more devious then that, Brodrick. We used Stan to set up the feud. He was expendable and very greedy. We got Hector to join us with promise of the priceless artwork from here. He had no trouble killing Stan to lure you back here. But the real trick was getting Janan out here. Brodrick's expression drops. BRODRICK Bringing her here was part of your plan? HEDRICK Hector kept me posted on you and Janan. I thought we were safe when he assured me there was nothing going on between you. But then I remembered your strange, romantic nature, and I did some checking. I discovered you'd willed everything to Janan. You'd leave millions to a woman you'd never even kissed? BRODRICK I wouldn't expect you to understand. Gina corroded your mind--as well as your soul. Janan never asked me for a dime. I never had to impress her.

HEDRICK That's very touching, Brodrick. I'll be sure to bury the two of you together, so you can rot alongside one another forever. BRODRICK Perhaps I'll do the same for you and your little whore, Gina. HEDRICK You couldn't handle a woman like Gina! You were never man enough for her! Brodrick remains calm and smirks with an almost patronizing look. BRODRICK It was less of an effort to let her press up against my safe to get her off. Hedrick becomes enraged. HEDRICK That's because she never loved you! She loves me! Brodrick chuckles lowly with a devious smile. BRODRICK Give her twenty bucks and she'll love any man--and possibly half a dozen farm animals. Hedrick appears enraged. Brodrick remains humored.

BRODRICK With all that experience, you'd think she'd be better in bed. But I suppose on dollar draft night, a dollar for the ten minute special may be worth it. Hedrick cries out and lunges for Brodrick. Brodrick swings his sword at Hedrick. Their swords clash with a loud metallic clash and sparks. Both furiously strike swords repeatedly. Hedrick swings his sword at Brodrick and knocks his sword from his hand. Hedrick slashes at him. Brodrick cries out, falls backward, and topples over the railing. Hedrick smirks and approaches the railing. He hurries down the stairs.

Brodrick rams a small dagger into Hedrick's midsection. Hedrick gasps with pain and surprise.

He drops the sword, attempts to speak, then falls backwards onto the floor. Brodrick slowly moves to his feet and stands over Hedrick. Hedrick no longer moves. BRODRICK Clever enough to play dead. Brodrick casts the bloody dagger aside. INT. GALLERY

Gina runs after her. INT. THIRD FLOOR LIBRARY -- CONTINUOUS Janan runs into the library and attempts to bolt the door. There's a harsh vibration against the door. Janan is tossed backward. Gina stands in the doorway with the knife in her hand and a devious look on her face. GINA Tell me something, Janan. Was it worth it? Coming here to die with Brodrick? Janan uncertainly backs up to the third floor railing and nervously clings to it behind her. She looks over the railing. INT. FIRST FLOOR LIBRARY -- CONTINUOUS Janan's POV. We see Hedrick lying dead on the floor in the center of the library with blood surrounding him. INT. THIRD FLOOR LIBRARY -- CONTINUOUS Janan gasps then looks back at Gina with a startled look. She once more looks over the railing then back at Gina as she approaches. JANAN When you really love someone, you'd die for them--and kill for them. Janan suddenly leaps for Gina and knocks her backwards into the large curtain over the huge window. The heavy curtain falls on top of them as Gina attempts to stab Janan. The knife strikes the curtain and narrowly misses her. They struggle partially within the thick curtain. Janan knocks Gina to the floor.

The knife flies into the fallen curtain as they continue to struggle. Janan punches Gina in the face, dazing her. Janan punches her again, shakes her fist, and then stands with satisfaction. We see Brodrick appear on the spiral stairs. He sees her. She appears relieved. BRODRICK Janan, are you okay? Janan smiles and nods. She's about to approach him when Gina leaps up from the curtain with the thick, nylon rope sash and lunges for her from behind. Brodrick appears horrified. BRODRICK Janan, look out! Janan begins to turn. Gina leaps on top of her, taking them both into the railing. Gina attempts to strangle Janan with the curtain rope. Janan gasps and fights the rope around her neck. Brodrick runs for the struggling women. Janan slips out of Gina's hold. The curtain sash is now tangled around both of them. It suddenly tightens around Janan's neck. She gasps. We see the sash is caught around the nearby bookcase. Brodrick stops, looks to the snagged sash, and then hurries to the bookcase and attempts to loosen it. Gina, still tangled in the sash herself, attempts to push Janan to suffocate her with the rope. Brodrick gives up on the sash and runs for Janan. He casts Gina away from Janan and pulls her forward to loosen the rope around her neck. He works on removing it. Janan now gasps more freely as the rope is loosened. Gina suddenly cries out and lunges for Brodrick. Janan slips out of the sash just in time. Gina tackles Brodrick to the floor and attempts to strangle him with the same sash. Janan suddenly kicks Gina in the face, tossing her off of Brodrick. Gina rolls several times and into the fallen curtain. Brodrick slowly moves to his knees. Gina grabs for the discarded knife and jumps to her feet. With the knife in her hand, she leaps for Brodrick. Janan leaps for Gina and wraps the sash around her neck from behind. Gina struggles against the sash while attempting to stab Brodrick where he lay on the floor. He attempts to hold back Gina's knife near his face. Janan ties the rope around Gina's neck then attempts to pull on the rope itself to pull her off. Gina has just enough leverage on the rope to keep it from pulling. Janan releases the rope. Gina thrusts down with knife. Brodrick moves out of the knife's path just as it strikes the floor. Brodrick casts Gina off of him and scrambles to his feet. Gina springs to her feet and lunges at him with the knife. Brodrick collapses against the railing.

He gasps when he sees Gina nearly upon him. Janan leaps for Gina and shoves her away from Brodrick. Gina catapults over the railing alongside Brodrick. She screams as she plummets. INT. MUSEUM -- NIGHT

Six months later. Razi covers the computer outside of Brodrick's office. She's neatly dressed in a business suit. Cato and Norton approach. They appear to be arguing over something. NORTON And I'm telling you, it's not a chick flick. CATO Any movie that brings tears to a woman's eyes is a chick flick. (to Razi) Am I right? NORTON Asking your girlfriend doesn't count. Razi smiles warmly and sinks into Cato's arms. RAZI Keep me out of your squabbles. CATO Brodrick in his office? RAZI He and his new business partner have been in conference all day. Cato shakes his head and smiles. CATO It's been six months. You'd think they'd cool it by now. INT. BRODRICK'S OFFICE

Janan sits on Brodrick's lap behind the desk as they kiss passionately. Brodrick slowly pulls away and smiles. BRODRICK I think we should go home already. All this business talk has worn me out. Janan laughs with a humored smile and gently straightens his tie. JANAN They're listening outside of the door. I think we've already been found out.

Brodrick grins and pulls her against him. BRODRICK In that case, let's pull an all nighter. Janan laughs softly then clings to him and kisses him passionately. FADE OUT
