Meet Loyolas Physical Therapist Ray Moore

By: Haleigh Morgus As athletes walk in and out of the training room each day, theyve begun to spot a new and reoccurring face: Ray Moore, a physical therapist at Physical Therapy First, whose office is right between Newman Towers and Royal Farms. Ray is one of two physical therapists who now travel to Loyolas training room two or three times a week to help varsity athletes who are either recovering from, or trying to prevent, serious and long lasting injuries. The best part about working with athletes, Ray said, is that they are relatively healthy and highly motivated to get better. Anytime someone is self-motivated it makes your job easier and more worthwhile. Ray certainly has his hands full with student-athletes here at Loyola. He works around 16 hours a week at Loyolas training room, and sees about 12 athletes each day he comes in. To student-athletes, Ray is not only their physical therapist, but also an entertaining mentor filled with fun and helpful stories about his own life. As a University of Maryland, College Park graduate, and a Towson, Maryland resident, Ray is full of advice on the best places to visit or eat food around Loyolas campus. Meredith Dwyer, a freshman on Loyolas tennis team, and one of Rays frequent patients, said that Ray is not only an awesome physical therapist, but also a great person in general. "He actually cares about his patients and always keeps me laughing and smiling with all of his stories," she said. An active athlete and fan, Ray has a lot of experience with playing different sports. As a kid I played soccer, little league baseball and ran cross-country, he explained. These days my favorite sports are flag football and volleyball, though I also like learning and playing new sports like racquetball and basketball. And with SportsCenter constantly on television in the training room, Ray never fails to mention the trials and successes of his native Baltimore Ravens. I would LOVE to work for the Baltimore Ravens, he said. Football is head and shoulders my favorite sport, and I am borderline obsessed with the Ravens. For the athletes interested in becoming a physical therapist, Ray is always filled with plenty of advice. Originally, Ray went into college thinking he wanted to be an engineer. Later, he discovered that physical therapy was a better career path since it combines his love of sports with his lack of desire to work a desk job. Most importantly, Ray got into the field of physical therapy in order to be able to help people, like Loyolas student-athletes, get better on a daily basis. It's an active job that won't put you in front of a computer all day, Ray said. I think you would find that most PT's are healthier and happier than the average American.

Don't worry, "economic conservatives". The DJIA has already more than doubled under the Obama administration. He's a really bad socialist.
