Dear School Faculty, Advisor and Administrator,
As part of the 7th International Petroleum Technology Conference (IPTC), a number of Oil and Gas
industry sponsors will be hosting the International Education Week, which will be held in Doha
(Qatar) from January 18 - 22, 2014. The objective for this event is to select top students who are
studying in Engineering, Geoscience and Science degree programs from qualified institutions across
the globe. It is anticipated that 100 of the best students will be selected to participate in this program
and will be invited to Doha to attend this event. IPTC will cover travel and accommodation expenses
for all selected students.
The purpose of the Education Week is to give the students a clear insight into the petroleum industry,
to work together on a joint technical project and to provide opportunities for students to extend their
network. During this event, the students will be interacting with a number of major industry
employers who will be offering job opportunities to a selection of students.
Before the event takes place, the Young Members Activities Steering Committee will finalize the list
of selected student based on a number of criteria. Invited students will be asked to research an Energy
related topic, with guidance from a Young Professional Mentor from one of the sponsoring companies.
The students will then work with a number of his/her peers during the Education Week to develop a
final report and compete against other teams at the event. During this week, the students will take part
of a number of activities. Details for these activities will be made available online prior to attending
Education Week.

team building activities led by young professionals

professionals.
20 January 2014: IPTC Opening Ceremony and Petro Bowl.
21 January 2014, Field Trips and Group Assignment Finalization
22 January 2014, Presentation of Group Assignments and IPTC closing ceremony
Upon returning from this event back to their institution, participating students are encouraged to share
their final presentations with their peers and faculty while sharing their experience and learning from
the IPTC Conference and Education Week. Institutions should support their students to meet this
activity.
As Co-Chairs of the IPTC Young Members Activities Steering Committee, I would like to invite you
to help coordinate the nomination of up to four students from your institution. These nominees should
be picked from your top 20% of your final year undergraduate (2013-2014 academic year) students
