PART A (2 10= 20) Attempt all questions. Answers are expected to be in 50-75 words. All questions are of same marks. 1. Define freight forwarder? 2. What do you mean by logistic excellence? 3. Differentiate on demise charter and time charter. 4. What is Liner vessel? 5. Define Flag of convenience. 6. What is the role of freight broker? 7. Explain shipping agents. 8. Expand IATA 9. List any two advantages of AIR Transport. 10.Explain the relevance of logistic to export management.

PART B (3 10 = 30)

Attempt any three questions out of five. All questions are of equal marks. Answer should be in 100 to 200 words. 11. Give different types of vessels used in Sea Freight. Explain importance of Packing in International Trade.

12. Write short notes (any three) :

a) Types of Containers b) Types of Cargo c) Certificate of Origin d) Different modes of transport in International logistics e) IATA

13. Discuss the limitations of conventional ships, and explain how containerization has helped in overcoming these constraints. 14. Distinguish between Time Charter and Voyage Charter. Enumerate the responsibilities of ship owners under these two charters. 15. "The developing countries, despite having a share of over 50% of the goods load in world sea borne trade, have been unable to build their shipping capacity". Comment on this statement, and also state the problems faced by them in this regard.

PART C (5 10= 50) Attempt all the five questions. All questions are of equal marks. Answer should be in 300 to 500 words.

16. Describe the limitations of conventional ships in loading the break bulk cargo and discuss how has containerization helped in overcoming these constraints? OR 16. "Indian shipping policy measures are aimed at the development of shipping fleet so as to attain self-reliance". Do you agree? Discuss how far India has been able to achieve the objectives set out in the shipping policy. 17. Discuss the basic principles and factors that govern the liner freight rates. Also specify the different elements added to basic freight rates to work out the final charges to be paid in case of break-bulk cargo. OR 17. Also explain as to why the developing countries have not been able to increase their shipping tonnage

Elaborate on this statement and enumerate the recent developments in international Logistics that have made it an important plank of corporate strategy 20. Why is inland water transport rarely used for movement of export-import-cargo in India ? How can the situation be improved?
