TITLE OF THE PAPER: Solutions for increasing the energy performance of buildings and reducing the amount of water after the torrential rains. AUTHOR'S NAME AND CONTACT DETAILS: Sardaru (Nichifor) Ancuta Elena, Telephone: 0730.298.857, the email address: s_ancutza19@yahoo.com. KEYWORDS: rainwater, building, energy, roof. ABSTRACT: A modern solution on improving energy performance of buildings and reducing the amount of water after torrential rains is building "green roof - garden". This is an system y ecological, g , coating, g, p partial or complete, p , with soil that allows vegetation to grow on the surface of the roof. The buildings with low slope roofs are favorable for applying the technology of green roof garden. These types of "green roofs - garden" contributes to thermal insulation of buildings, diminishing costs for heating in cold weather and in summer for cooling the dwellings. Fig. no. 1: Green roof garden (New York) The green roofs shrinks the urban heat quantity, quantity attenuates the greenhouse effect and leading to a increase of the lifetime of the roof, but and value of these buildings. The components layers of a "green roof - garden" are: - Concrete slab is the layer that supports additional load of green roof-garden. - The hydroinsulation, which protects the rainfall infiltration into the building structure, is an layer important in the assessing viability of green roof garden. - Insulation is provided with plates or expanded polystyrene, polyurethane plates, l t mineral i l wool, l etc. t over that th t apply l a top t layer l h d i l ti hydroinsulation. - The layer of protective anti-root - The vegetation develop root systems that may aggress the layers of waterproofing. - The layer of separation, storage and mechanical protection, which are to be applied over the entire surface of the sealing element, hydroinsulation protects against harms and mechanical action of its own weight from the top of the layers. Fig. no. 2: Green roof garden Stratification - The layer drainage is important at the green roof system, in particular for ensuring meteoric water leakage. - The layer of filtration is designed to prevent the passage of fine particles from soil layer prepared in drainage layer and provide anchoring the roots. - The substrate is medium in which plants derive their food and grow. The layer of vegetation performs a similar function of the roof cooling, by transferring energy solar in atmosphere.
