Introduction
For more than 40 years, Bettis has combined its ingenuity with high quality standards, continuously pioneering valve actuator technology. Beginning with the Robotarm scotch-yoke concept, Bettis innovations have become todays standards for valve control in virtually every part of the world. The company operates in accordance with ISO 9001 and BS-5750 certications and maintains a formal Total Quality Management program to assure product excellence. Continuing our innovative tradition, Bettis introduces the latest valve automation advancementthe G-Series Robotarm II quarterturn actuator.

Product Concept
In developing the G-Series actuators, Bettis improved a basic concept the Reaction Bar, by adding our new state-ofthe-art Powr-Swivl, replaceable bearings, highly efcient wear and corrosion resistant coating system, and tension rod compressed spring. This enhanced design greatly improves efciency, reduces wear and extends the actuators life. The combining of these technologies, enhancements, and superior quality control techniques produced an assembly which became the heart of our new extended service actuators the G-Series.

Advantages
The G-Series actuators provide a unique, highly reliable means of operating ball, buttery, or plug valves, as well as louvers, dampers and other 90 degree rotating mechanisms.

Created with its users interest in mind, the G-Series actuators offer many signicant benets. Among these are: Wear Resistance The G-Series Powr-Swivl piston rod connection is contained by the guide block, which is supported by a high strength alloy steel reaction bar treated to provide a highly corrosion and wear resistant nish. The PowrSwivl, superior surface nishes, and self-lubricating bearings maximize the transfer of input energy directly to the valve stem. The tension loaded spring minimizes radial loads on the piston rod, further enhancing efciency. Service Rated G-Series models are qualied by accelerated wearage testing. The actual service life may be predicted based upon specic application parameters and

environmental conditions. Proper actuator selection, enhanced by proprietary data analysis methods, allows optimum performance and operating economy. Replaceable Bearings Low friction, permanently lubricated, high performance bearings protect sliding and rotating components, signicantly extending actuator life. Five Year Warranty G-Series actuators are backed by the industrys strongest materials and workmanship warranty. Corrosion Resistance G-Series actuators incorporate protective internal and external coatings, assuring the actuators reliable operation in the harshest of environments. The actuator exhibits excellent corrosion resistance, conrmed by Salt Spray Testing per ASTM B117 criteria. Construc

Tension-Lok Bettis Tension-Lok positively locks in place the spring module while under load. This mechanism prevents spring module detachment from the drive module prior to depressurization, extension of the spring to a safe condition, and unseating the Tension-Lok mechanism. Powr-Swivl. The PowrSwivl connects the piston rod and the guide block, compensating for side load deection, thus reducing wear on the rod, bearings and seals. Acculine Shaft Drive. The Bettis Acculine Shaft Drive assures a positive yoke seal, maintains accurate alignment, and eliminates accessory shaft side loads. The Acculine Shaft Drive prevents accidental disengagement of critical signal devices or controls, provides visual indication, and helps maintain the integrity of hazardous area classied devices. NAMUR. The G-Series actuator is compatible with a wide range of control and signal generating devices. The NAMUR mounting conguration allows standardization of mounting hardware for shaft driven accessories. Replaceable Bearings. Replaceable bearings protect sliding and rotating components, and are suitable for either dry or lubricated working conditions. These components are protected by low friction, permanently lubricated bearings which reduce friction losses, thereby improving efciency and extending actuator life. Guide Block Thrust Bushing. The Guide Block Thrust Bushing aligns the guide block within the yoke arms to enhance the PowrSwivl function.

Override. The internally mounted hydraulic override cylinder module for spring-return actuators, does not increase the overall length of the actuator. This pretested module is mounted oppo-

site the power module, on both spring-return and double-acting actuators, positively separating power and override uids. The manual pump module is interchangeable between doubleacting and spring-return models. Optional features include speed controls, by-pass for high speed operation, special trims, and auto disengage by pilot signal or power gas.
