Abstract - Agriculture has been one of the primary occupations of man since early civilizations and even today manual interventions in farming are inevitable. Greenhouses form an important part of the agriculture and horticulture sectors in our country as they can be used to grow plants under controlled climatic conditions for optimum produce. As the applications of greenhouse become more and more extensive, traditional greenhouse management is far from meeting the requirements. In the system, Single Chip Microcomputer is monitoring temperature, humidity, EC, Ph and then the information is saved on the MicroSD data module. And also system sends an alert message and all parameters to the greenhouse manager through GSM module. Greenhouse manager is also able to updates and modify the greenhouse parameters references according to requirement. Keywords-Single Chip Microcontroller (AVR ATmega32); GSM Module; LCD Display; MicroSD Data Logger;

INTRODUCTION

Greenhouse: It is enclosures of polythene, glass used in plantations to increase the yield and the quality of the crops. Greenhouses in India are being deployed in the high-altitude regions where the subzero temperature up to -40 C makes any kind of plantation almost impossible. There is large and sustained demand of fresh vegetable, fruits and ornamental plants throughout the year in almost. In almost every big city these experience the need of off-season and high value of crops, the meet requirement greenhouse cultivation may be a right option. The greenhouse cultivation is export oriented crops seems to be possible source of foreign earning. The greenhouse technologies as base for other biotechnologies like Film technique require control environmental condition of growing plants. II. OVERALL ARCHITECTURE OF THE GREENHOUSE The system consists of temperature,, humidity,light monitoring terminal and data collecting ,displaying and message sending. Controlling terminals includes, peripheral circuits, temperature, humidity, Light sensors and monitoring parameters are Ph, Electrical conductivity and CO2 levels and for monitoring parameters respective sensors are used. For corrective actions of excessive temperature, humidity, light auto ventilation, fans, foggers, lamps are used. Parameters are also displayed on 24*4 Char LCD display.

Parameters updates are available over greenhouse managers mobile according to his requirement and also parameters modification can also be done using greenhouse managers mobile and for communication between the mobile and the system we used SIM300 GSM Module. Data logging is done in MicroSD card and the file format in the SD Card can directly read into the Microsoft excel. Data obtained in the SD card in .CSV (Comma Separated Variable) format.

Steps followed in designing the system: Three general steps can be followed to appropriately select the control system: Step # 1: Identify measurable variables important to production.

It is very important to correctly identify the parameters that are going to be measured by the controllers data acquisition interface, Like Temperature measure, Humidity measure & Soil moisture Affects salinity and pH of irrigation water, CO2 level.So we using electronic sensor for measuring a variable must readily available, accurate, reliable and low in cost. Step# 2: Investigate the control strategies. An important element in considering a control system is the control strategy that is to be followed. The simplest strategy is to use threshold old sensors that directly affect actuation of devices. For example, the temperature inside a greenhouse can be affected by controlling heaters, fans, or window openings once it exceeds the maximum allowable limit. The light intensity can be controlled using g four threshold levels. Step #3: The hardware to be used. We are using ATMega 32 Controller (8 bit), GSM 3000 module, LCD display, SD card, Fan, motor

CONCLUSION : A step-by-step approach in designing the microcontroller based system for measurement and control of the four essential parameters for plant growth, i.e. temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and light intensity, has been followed. The system has successfully overcome quite a few shortcomings of the existing systems by reducing the power consumption, maintenance and complexity, at the same time providing a flexible and precise form of maintaining the environment. The continuously decreasing costs of hardware and software, the wider acceptance of electronic systems in agriculture, and an emerging agricultural control system industry in several areas of agricultural production, will result in reliable control systems that will address several aspects of quality and quantity of production. Scope for further development: 1. The device can be made to perform better by providing the power supply with the help of battery source which can be rechargeable or nonrechargeable, to reduce the requirement of main AC power. Time bound administration of fertilizers, insecticides and pesticides can be introduced.
