YEAR 7 HISTORY: Invasion Plague and Murder Exam Revision Sheet May/June 2013 Your history examination will

consist of one exam paper, for which you will have 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete. This will be based on the work you have covered in Terms 1, 2 and 3. You will be expected to know the basic skills we learnt in Term 1, such as chronology, centuries, types of evidence and bias. The exam paper will be split into four sections. Section A will consist of a number of short answer questions testing your subject knowledge. Section B will consist of primary and secondary source materials. You will be asked questions on these sources, some of which you may not have seen before. Your answers in this section will be extended. Section C will consist of multiple choice questions will test your ability to select relevant information, read and understand a text within a limited time period and use information to demonstrate an understanding of historical facts, chronology, and data. Section D will require extended writing. This will test your ability to write an extended essay-style answer. It will also test your empathy skills (being able to imagine how a person from history might think and feel). You should revise from your exercise book and textbook. How to revise:

Re-read your exercise book and text book, quizzes, question sheets, tests or handouts Summerise each of the above topics on one sheet of paper or on a flashcard. Make either bullet point lists or spider diagrams/mind maps Review the summaries and ask someone to test your knowledge Complete some practice questions for the examination including source questions Follow the link on the VLE to the revision games

Some source question hints 1. Take time to read and make notes on the sources. As you read through, make notes on your exam paper. Ask yourself: What is the message of the source? Is it reliable? Is it bias? How do I know? Who is the intended audience? 2. Make sure that in your answers you quote the sources and refer to the sources.

Section C Historical skills You will have two sources; one will be a long, written secondary source. You will then have 15 multiple choice questions to answer. Section D Extended writing You will be given a writing frame and expected to write longer answers. You will be awarded marks for detail and explanation.
