A resident of Little Neck, John raised his three children in the district, for a time as a single parent.

He coached little league baseball and created Services Now for Adult Persons, which provided vital services and hot meals for thousands of seniors. John has been involved in numerous local organizations including the Westmoreland Civic Association, the Knights of Columbus, the Little Neck Douglaston Historical Society, the Alley Pond Environmental Center, and the Queens Historical Society. A graduate of Holy Cross, Colgate University, and Columbia Law School, John has dedicated his lifes work to challenging powerful, special interests on behalf of those who often do not have a voice. As a former Assistant Attorney General, John took on Con Ed winning a $30 million settlement for taxpayers. In his time serving as a state assemblyman, John authored 22 laws including the Vietnam Veterans Tuition Assistance Law. In his private practice, John fought deceptive credit counselors and won a $250 million judgment for victims of fraud. A former Vice President of the Little Neck Community Association, John was honored in 2011 with the Little Neck Douglaston Memorial Day Parade Community Service Award. John is the grandson of immigrants who understands the struggles facing new Americans and values the contributions they make to our society.

Born and raised in Northeast Queens, former State Assemblyman John Duane is a father, attorney and accomplished consumer advocate. John is running for the New York City Council to help improve our community by tackling the complex challenges we faceoverdevelopment, quality of life issues, and public corruption. John believes that by working together we can help make the city we love a better place to live, work, and raise a family.
