Who is this qualification for?

Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement Unit 301, Unit 302 and Unit 303 Aimed at: This qualification is for people who assess both training and competency in the workplace.

Requirements:

Candidates must have an NVQ Level 3 or working towards or 5 years occupational experience

This qualification is designed for candidates who are seeking career progression within their area of work or are looking to progress towards their Assessors status.

The Units:

Unit 301 - Understanding the principles and practices of assessment (knowledge unit); This unit covers: principles and requirements of assessment, different types of assessment methods, assessment planning, learner involvement, making assessment decisions, quality assurance of the assessment process, legal requirements in relation to assessment. Unit 302 - Assess occupational competence in the work environment (practical unit); This unit covers: planning the assessment of occupational competence by appropriate methods, making assessment decisions on occupational cempetence, providing follow-up information after assessment of occupational competence and maintaining legal and good practice when assessing ocupational competence. Unit 303 - Assess vocational skills, knowledge and understanding (practical unit); This unit covers: preparation of assessment of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding by a range of appropriate methods, carrying out assessments of vocational skills, knowledge and understanding and maintaining legal and good practice when assessing vocational skills, knowledge and understanding.

Level 3 Award in Assessing Competence in the Work Environment Unit 301 and Unit 302 Aimed at: This qualification is for people who assess competence in the workplace using a variety of methods including recognition of prior learning, direct observation, examination of product, discussion and/or questioning, use of others e.g. witnesses.
