Unit Plan Overall Idea Matrix

Topic The Tropical Rainforest Target Audience (make sure to describe number, age, and abilities of students) 20 Kindergarteners, can read on an emergent-reader level, some can write in one or two sentences, others use invented spelling and just write words

Overall Objectives The students will Given a graph of data about the rainforest, the student will be able to accurately read the graph and analyze the data. Given a sorting activity with animals and two boxes (one for rainforest and one for not rainforest), the student will be able to accurately sort all of the pictures into the correct box. Given a chart with different sections for rainforest plants, animals, weather, and conservation, the student will be able to write down 2-3 objects in each box accurately. Given a video about visualizing while reading, the student will be able to actively listen to it and do all of the activities in it accurately. Pass / CC Standards K.MD.B.3: Classify objects and count the number of objects in each category. K.CC.A.1: Count to 100 by ones and by tens.
