Christ the King Mission Statement

The People of Christ the King in Lombard are a welcoming, vibrant faith community building the kingdom of God through our many ministries. We celebrate our diversity, seeking to realize the gifts of each member of our parish, as we are all joined together under one faith, in a spiritual journey of evangelization, service to others, and a reverence for all life. In the Eucharist, we find new life, and bring this life to others through stewardship, education, and worship.

Parish Appreciation Picnic

The Parish Leadership of Christ the King will be hosting a picnic on Tuesday, June 4, at 6:30 p.m. in the Parish Life Center in celebration of all the volunteers who have served the parish ministries and organizations this past year. If you are currently involved in the parish or wish to become involved, you are welcome to join us to learn more about Parish Leadership at Christ the King and all the various ministries and organizations that serve our parish. The Pastoral Parish Council and Parish Leadership wish to thank everyone who has been of service for the past year and welcome those who wish to become more involved in parish life. We look forward to seeing everyone at the picnic on June 4. For more information on Parish Leadership or about the picnic on June 4, please contact Anna Weselak (630-620-7797 parishcouncil@ctklombard.org ) or Deacon Frank Lillig (630-369-6077 or frank@ctklombard.org).

Welcome Little Sisters of the Poor

"We welcome the Little Sisters of the Poor, who will be speaking at all the Masses on May 25th & 26th. For over 170 years, the Little Sisters have dedicated their lives to caring for the elderly poor. Our aging population continues to grow, and dignity at the end of life is increasingly threatened. The Little Sisters believe the elderly are our greatest treasures. Our elderly brothers and sisters lives have brought them a unique perspective in our human family. Through their accomplishments, our elders bring lessons in endurance and self-sacrifice. Through their lifelong experiences, the elderly bring lessons in what is important in life. The Little Sisters welcome the elderly as Jesus Christ Himself and serve them with love and respect until God calls them home. Please prayerfully consider supporting the Little Sisters of the Poor with a donation."

God the Father loved us so much that He sent his only begotten son to save us from sin. God the Son, Jesus, loved us so much that He gave his life for us on the cross, giving us access to the Father. Through God the Holy Spirit, the love of God has been poured into our hearts. God is love and that love will transform all of us if we open our hearts to Him and receive his love. Let the Love of God transform your life and your marriage. Attend the next Worldwide Marriage Encounter Weekend on June 7-9, 2013. Contact Jim and Kris McCulloch, 630-577-0778. For more information visit our website at: wwmejoliet.org.

Year of Faith: Catechism Corner

God put us in the world to know, to love, and to serve him, and so to come to paradise. Beatitude makes us partakers of the divine nature and of eternal life. With beatitude, man enters into the glory of Christ and into the joy of the Trinitarian life. (CCC, n. 1721)

Discovering the Biblical Significance of Mary

Drawing on his roots as a Protestant minister, Dr. Scott Hahn responds to key misunderstandings about the Virgin Mary. This captivating presentation explains the biblical and historical basis for the Church's teachings that the Virgin Mary is the New Eve and the Queen of Heaven. Parishioner Comments: I learn more every time I listen to this CD! I really liked the explanations of the Old Testament being fulfilled in the New Testament. Debra - Germantown, WI It is such a blessing to listen again and again! I am a cradle Catholic but have lots to learn! Carole - Avondale, AZ In one of the most inspiring CDs we have ever offered on the Virgin Mary, Dr. Scott Hahn reveals incredible insights on the Biblical basis for the Catholic teachings regarding Mary as the Ark of the New Covenant. This presentation will help shatter many misconceptions and clearly demonstrate how Catholic teachings are unmistakably rooted in Sacred Scripture. Excellent ! Great presentation - important information . Increases devotion and reverence for our Holy Mother. Alina - Doral, FL

For the Children From the Children

Scary stuff happens. When you are a child you usually happen to have a favorite comfort toy to erase the fear. What happens when a tornado rips through your community taking everything including you teddy bear? Help the teens put together care packages for the Children of Moore, OK! We are looking for donations of: Teddy Bears, new baby items (diapers, wipes, clothing, toys etc.), toiletries, new clothing (aim for the children), toys, hand-made cards and individually wrapped snack bars. The participants of Live Out Loud will put these items together and ship them to St. Francis Parish in Oklahoma City so they distribute the items to the children of Moore. To make this possible, donations of shipping boxes are needed. Cash donations accepted as well (and will be needed for shipping, extra ).
Thank you for you continued support of Youth Ministry and thanks to Gina Weidman from St. Pius for pulling this together for us!

Thank you to our Kings Choir and Youth Music Ministry for sharing their talents with our parish. As the Easter season came to a close this past weekend, so has our choral season. I am in awe when I review what we have accomplished the past year. Our Music Ministers give so much of their time to praise God in song and lead others in their sung prayer. I also wish to thank Van Pierre Mandin who will be accompanying our liturgies for the next few weekends. I will be praying for our entire parish community as I travel to Rome, Italy for the Feast of Corpus Christi and take part in the Procession with Pope Francis. I humbly as that you also keep me in your prayers. Thank you for your support of the music and liturgical ministries here at Christ the King Parish.

Greetings from Father John Guiney May 15, 2013

Dear parishioners, I am grateful to you for your prayers and your concerns. I am presently at Clare Oaks Rehab in Bartlett. I have no idea how long I will be here. It will be a long, slow recovery process. So, again I thank you and I am asking you again please double your prayers, double your prayers because I just want to get well and go out and do the simple things like celebrate the Eucharist and celebrate it with you. Thank you, thank you for your prayers and may God Bless and protect each one of you.
