Katy Perry is a world famous singer and songwriter. She has famous, catchy, hit songs and that, along with her unique wardrobe, is why the world has fallen in love with Katy Perry. Katy was born Katherine Elizabeth Hudson, in Santa Barbara, California, on October 25 1984. Katy is one of three children. She has an older sister and younger brother. Katy Perry came from a religious family, and she spent most of her childhood listening to gospel songs. Her first album was made u of gospel songs. It was called Katy Hudson and it was release in 2001. Katy changed her name from Katy Hudson to Katy Perry, as Katy Hudson sounded too much like Kate Hudson (an American actress). Katy had a number of ups and downs in her music career, including being dropped from a record label, before she made her move in the music industry. In 2007, Katy signed with capitol records, the company which is the reason Katy Perry is famous. Katy Perry made her first hit single, I Kissed a Girl, in May 2008. I Kissed a Girl was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for seven weeks. Katys album, Teenage Dream, was a music sensation in the eyes of many. It was released on August 24 2010. The songs concentrate on love, partying, self-empowerment and personal growth, which are all things teenagers experience. This album also made music history. It was the second album to have five number one hits on the Billboard Hot 100. Katy was the first female artist to do this, as the other artist was Michael Jacksons, with his album Bad. Teenage Dream was also the third album to have eight top five hits. Katy Perry has also featured in several movies. These include The Smurfs and The Smurfs 2, where Katy played the voice of Smurfette, and the hit movie Katy Perry: Part of Me. This movie was based on Katy Perry and Katys journey and experiences in her music career. Katy Perry is loved by many, and has definitely changed the world of music. She is a music sensation and will always be remembered in music history.
