ACT 7 of the Divine Constitution and By-Laws of the Moorish Science Temple of America states in part, All members must promptly attend their meetings and become a part and partial of all uplifting acts of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Members must pay their dues and keep in line with all necessities of The Moorish Science Temple of America, then you are entitled to the name of Faithful...This Divine Covenant is from your Holy Prophet Noble Drew Ali, thru the guidance of his Father God Allah. As we are on the scene in this electrified age approaching one hundred years since the founding of the Moorish Science Temple of America through the Canaanite Temple in Newark, New Jersey, (founding of the New Ark of the New Jerusalem) in 1913, we seek to be in line with the Prophet's laws on all points. Yet, time and clime changes and we must adapt while still holding fast to the foundation. Even if we are unable to attend our meetings we can still pay dues! The Prophet expressed the importance of paying dues and set guidelines in this regard. ...The heads are not to charge for membership or to over charge for cards, buttons, or for anything issued by the Prophet. of the preceding are not Moors but robbers. Membership, sisters and brothers is free; not only here but all over the world. The button is 25 cents, card 25 cents; and one months dues is paid. Every member pays 50 cents a month for dues. This money goes toward the support of the Temple. This, if not paid, does not entitle you to the protection that is provided for you, and especially if you are not working or in the position to work. If you neglect to fulfill this small duty assigned you, how can you rightfully expect money or other help when you are sick or otherwise disable? The heads of all Temples are to submit a report monthly of all finance. The head of any Temple can maintain an emergency fund which can not exceed the amount of from twenty-five cents to fifty cents a week per member. All public collections and dues also go to the support of the Temple and its domestic work. All members should pay 25 cents to 50 cents weekly towards the Emergency Fund....That is, if you are loyal Moors. The Emergency Fund goes into the bank.... and under the name of the Moorish Science Temple of America Finance. ...every business transaction or anything pertaining to finance is to be transacted in the name of the Moorish Science Temple of America... We Moors must maintain a grand treasurer just as in the days of our forefathers; then you are a nation----until then, you are nothing. ...and has not paid his or her dues or assessments, providing that he or she is working or able, cannot consider himself a Moor. But traitors must be excluded from the books after having fair trial by the head of their Temple, and that must be sent to the Grand Body. takes finance to uplift a nation. And those that are able and fail to act, are not Moors, but traitors to their cause and trust...and are not allowed to share all the Moorish honors. And the penalty is the embezzlement of the faith of our creed. All heads of all Temples must observe these laws. The above are the Supreme Words of the Prophet Noble Drew Ali, founder of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Therefore, every member is required to pay: 1. Dues 2. Per Capita Tax (Head Tax paid to Home Office if you attend meetings of an active Temple. If you do not attend a Temple this head tax is excluded until further notice) 3. Emergency Fund (If applicable) 4. Uplifting Fund according to ability to pay. You desire to have, such as cards, buttons, Turbans, Fezes, Badges, or Flags and to pay rent to have a place to meet. Your taxes, which is Annual Tax, $1.00 A year, your Special tax, which is 50 cents a year, and your per capita Tax, which is 25 cents a month, which is paid by all. And all Taxes come to the Grand Body. From all Temples. So all of you who desire to keep the PROPHETs Laws, You can send your taxes in to the Grand Body by Postal Money Order, to the Home Office... These are the instructions from the Holy Prophet through Bro. E. Mealy El, first Supreme Grand Sheik of the Moorish Science Temple of America, appointed by the Prophet himself. Therefore, all subordinate Temples must pay the following taxes to Home Office: ` 1. Annual Tax 2. Special Tax 3. Per Capita Tax (Head Tax)

The appropriate amounts instructed by the Holy Prophet and the first Supreme Grand Sheik were entered into the CPI Inflation Calculator and these are the results as of this day, May 14, 2012: 1928 $.25 $.50 $1.00 2013 $3.35 $6.71 $13.42

As a result of hyperinflation, the price of goods from 1928 does not necessarily reflect the amount today. For example, a loaf of bread in 1928 costs .05 cents (a nickel). In todays money that equals .65 cents. However, a loaf of bread does not cost .65 cents, it costs somewhere between 2.00 2.81on average. For this cause, we must make necessary adjustments so that we may finance the nation and help those who may come across dire circumstances. For this cause, members are required to pay to the Temple: 1928 1. Dues 2. Per Capita Tax 3. Emergency Fund 4. Annual Tax 5. Special Tax 6. ***The Holy Prophet grants the head of each Temple the power to maintain an Emergency Fund. It should be decided whether to actually be enacted, and the amount thereof, by the respective Grand Sheik/ess and his or her Sheik board and members. It cannot EXCEED 25 cents

Public Collection goes toward the Temples expenses. Charity Collection is for the sick or needy. Dues are due by the seventh of each month. Per capita taxes are due by the seventh of each month. Emergency fund payments, if applicable, are due weekly between Friday through Sunday. Special Tax is due on the first day of the National Convention of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Annual Tax is due on or before the last day of the National Convention of the Moorish Science Temple of America. Another point to note is that: ***ALL DUES GIVEN TO THE TEMPLE ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE! YOU CAN HAVE THESE DUES DEDUCTED ON YOUR TAXES DURING TAX SEASON.*** (See http://www.irs.gov/publications/p526/ar02.html) Moors we can only replicate the successful model demonstrated by Prophet Noble Drew Ali by applying the exact methodology he left us in this new era of time. Paying dues is an excellent place to start to get in line with all necessities thereby garnering for ones self the title of Faithful. The Temple will not move without the financial support of its members. All dues, taxes, etc. are tax deductible, as the Moorish Science Temple of America is a religious non-profit corporation.
