Behavior Rubric

Objectives Behavior 1 Student does not follow directions or monitor behavior individually. Constantly breaks classroom rules. Needs constant teacher redirection. Student does not pay attention in class. Often distracted by others. May wander physically or mentally. Ideas and instructions frequently need to be repeated. Student doesnt stay on task. Student doesnt get along with peers, and is argumentative and defensive. Student often refuses to follow directions. Loud, disruptive, full of anger and/OR sneaky and instigative. May run from class or adults. Student puts forth little or no effort, making many excuses for not meeting deadlines. Quality of work is far below ability levels. Never completes homework and rarely completes class work. 2 Student rarely follows directions. Frequently breaks classroom rules. Often needs teacher redirection. Student occasionally wanders either physically or mentally. Instructions and ideas sometimes need to be repeated. Student has trouble staying on task. Student sometimes doesnt get along well with peers. Can become defensive, argumentative, sneaky and or instigative. Sometimes refuses to follow directions. Student may be loud and disruptive. Student work is inconsistent. Student does just enough to get by, often finding ways to get around doing assigned work. Rarely completes homework and class work. 3 Student follows most directions and classroom rules. Teacher attention needed sometimes. 4 Student follows directions and rules. Rarely needs teacher redirection. Student can maintain appropriate behavior independently. Student pays attention in class and understands most directions in class. Student stays on task. 5 Student is a positive role model. Teacher redirection NEVER needed. Student can be trusted without an adult present. 6 Student is a positive role model and leader, inspiring others in many ways. Teacher redirection NEVER needed. Student inspires others to act appropriately. Student thoroughly understands directions in class. Student stays on task, and notices others who need help, assists appropriately without being asked. Student gets along with all students and adults. Student is a model citizen, helping others to solve conflicts without becoming involved in the conflict themselves. Flexible and congenial. Student work is outstanding. Work ethic is exemplary in and out of class. Student performs well above average, and overachieves to master subject areas. Often submits assignments early or does more than expected. Will help others with work.

Focus

Student usually pays attention in class, but needs long or complicated concepts or tasks repeated or clarified.

Student pays attention in class, and understands most directions in class. Student stays on task, and will assist others when asked.

Conflict and Opposition

Student usually gets along with others. Student does not seek conflict, but sometimes becomes involved in conflict with others. Student gives good effort to avoid being disruptive. Student work is acceptable, doing just enough to get by. Often finds ways to get around doing assigned work and does the bare minimum on assignments that are submitted.

Student gets along with others. Student is flexible and doesnt seek conflict. Follows directions. Rarely becomes involved in conflict.

Student gets along with others, and is often sought out as a friend or learning partner. Follows directions. Does not become involved in conflict. Flexible and congenial.

Grades and Performance

Student work is good, handing in assignments on time. The students achievement level is appropriate to grade level and abilities.

Student work is very good. Assignments are turned in on time. Work ethic is excellent, and performs above average. Often submits assignments early or does more than expected.
