Benchmarking network quality has always been an arduous and time consuming task, with drives taken throughout the network, comparing coverage levels, voice quality and a host of KPIs. Drive time is hampered by the need for large vehicles with complex equipment rigs battling their way through traffic. Monitoring equipment disconnects due to poor road conditions and numerous separate components in a test rig further complicate the process and limit the areas and continuity of testing. Data gathered is measured in Terabytes for as little as a weeks worth of driving, resulting in laborious uploads or even physical transport of the data on hard drives to the processing and analysis centre. Data processing and analysis takes an extraordinary number of man-hours to complete, and report writing is a complex and time consuming task. The end result is a test report that is delivered many weeks after the comparative drive test has been completed, resulting in findings and report data being outdated and largely irrelevant. All these factors result in the costs of comparative drive testing rising beyond economic viability and becoming too onerous for most operators, regulators, tower companies and the like.

Replay of the Drive Test results for all operators tested is available online, immediately for users. Call and data test scenarios are pre-defined and customized to each individual clients needs and the test handsets pre-programmed with the necessary call flows, resulting in an uninterrupted continuous test scenario over any distance and over any period of time. As data is collected, it is pre-processed on the test handset and sent back to TIA servers, where it is analysed, using our software, and presented on a secure web interface within seconds of being collected. This secure web interface is available to TIA clients to view, along with standard and customized KPI reports. This removes the need for complex rig configurations, specialized test vehicles and massive storage on the road. Actual user experience is modelled by TIA. Due to the portability of the solution walk tests inside and outside and even testing on water borne vehicles is possible and can be carried out at low cost and minimum effort.

TIA-Drive is a solution, run on the Android software
platform, on a variety of Android devices, providing uninhibited data collection and superior reporting speed and capabilities, whilst removing the need for expensive specialized handsets and software. Real world testing with real world devices. All functionality required to enable the drive testing is internal to the handset and removes the need for complicated PC based setups, with cable harnesses, PCs and GPSs and therefore the need for large test vehicles and highly qualified staff conducting test and information gathering exercises.
