The Rail Trail is a beautiful, peaceful path through woods and past beautiful farmland. The Mettowee River affords the angler in the family some great fishing access spots. Indoor activities plentiful too. The Pember Library and Museum is a great place to take the kids to experience natural history. To see what amazing things await you at the museum please visit www.pembermuseum.com or call 518-642-1515. The Slate Valley Museum is another interesting option for indoor family activities. The museum showcases the history and experiences of the areas ancestry in the quest to develop the slate industry. Insight is given to how the migrants came to be here, how they succeeded, how they failed and everything in between. More information about the museum can be found at www.slatevalleymuseum.org or contact them via phone at 518642-1417. If music is more to your liking then you definitely do not want to miss the Thursday night concert series in the park. For more information on the concert series please visit www.granvillevillage.com. Granville is home to many civic organizations that make our community what it is. The Lions and Lioness clubs, the Rotary Club, VFW, American Legion, K of C, Chamber of Commerce. Numerous churches, various fire companies, Rescue Squad and many other organizations are manned by countless volunteers who give of themselves to the community. The Granville Police Benevolent Association operates a Youth Center for the area children to enjoy. For a nominal fee children can attend dances on Friday and Saturday nights and they also provide after school activities as well. Looking for a good meal? Well we have many well-established restaurants to satisfy your palate, many of which offer outdoor seating to enjoy the summer season. With so many options to choose from, you will just have to make several visits to Granville to try them all! Granville is also home to diverse retail and service establishments who have made their mark by providing knowledgeable and friendly service to their customers. Many businesses in the Granville area have been owned and/or employed by the same staff for many years. The Granville area is a perfect destination for a day trip, a weekend or a lifetime. There are so many things to experience here. We have Motels and Bed & Breakfasts for your lodging needs. We are less than 45 minutes from many places such as Manchester, Rutland, Glens Falls and Lake George. Spend your evenings listening to the peepers by the pond or taking a nice stroll on our trail or quiet country roads.
