JUNIOR CLUB NEWS 8

Well the start of winter saw some good wintery conditions for football, it was wet and muddy. The kids all looked like they had great fun out there and were comparing how muddy they were at the end of the game. This week our Reserves, Seniors, Youth Girls, U11 and U16s all had wins. Most of us now get to have this weekend off for the Queens Birthday long weekend. There will be Interleague matches played this weekend, and I congratulate our players selected to represent the Western Region: U12 Jake Scarborough, U13 Trae Cook, U14 Joshua Mould, U15 Rhys Prior and Youth Girls Naomi Ferres, Brooke Eley, Mikayla Warlond, Cloe Barrow, Sabrin Nyawela and Mirella Koropeckyj. Well done to all and all good luck for the weekend. Also congratulations to Amon Hudson from our U16 side whom has been selected into the TAC cup U18 indigenous squad. If you have not received your polo top as yet and your fees have been paid in full, please come and see us at the Atco Hut so that we can make sure it has been ordered. We thank you all for your patience waiting for them to arrive. Reminder for trivia night on Friday 28th June at 7:30pm. Deer Park/Caroline Springs 8-8-56 to Wyndhamvale 5-4-34

Today we were up against Deer Park/Caroline Springs at Deer Park. The centre of the ground was a mud pit after all the rain we had. Some of the boys were unrecognisable at the end of the game! Play was pretty even in the first quarter, the highlight was that we kicked the first goal. Changes were made on the field for the second quarter and it made a great difference, the opposition only scored 2 points which was a fantastic effort by everyone. During the 3rd quarter we had the ball more but just couldn't put a score on the board. A few players really picked up their game which led us into a great last quarter. Lachlan was great in the back line with Boog, Kallam, Marty, Coby and Liam G. Our centres played really well, Mawot, Trae, Coops and Lleyton. Bailey really attacked the ball and Deccy was hard at it all day. Brad put in a big effort all through the game too. The final score doesn't show the fantastic effort by everyone. Due to one injury and 2 missing players we had no bench but even though there were a few soft injuries the boys just got back out there. We played good footy and got the ball more. With some improved kicking and aiming to get the ball even more we'll become even better. Congratulations to Coby on his first game for the Falcons. It was a disappointing result but it was a good effort by all. Keep your heads held high boys. Cookie. Best: Lleyton, Marwot, Trae, Bailey, Dec and the 2 Liams. Goals: Brad 2, Lil Jake, Postie and Lleyton. Under 10s Firstly, we would love to welcome Jordon and shak to our team. Well done to both of you on playing your first game of footy. Hoped you loved it. It rained all night so the ground was going to be wet and muddy. We handled the conditions like pro's and I'm sure you all loved rolling around in the mud. The first quarter seemed like you all hadn't woken up yet but you got your game on by the second quarter and started to play good old fashion footy. After half time, you all played as a team and standing on the boundary looking in, i saw some great team work. We played with 20 kids on each team this week and it seemed like there were too many crowding the ball. You were all trying to look for space but no-one gave in. I saw some great work by our new comer Shak who did 3 amazing smothers all in a matter of 30 seconds. Well done mate. Great chasing from Aaron, Dylan and Braido. Jemma finally realised that the ball goes further when you KICK it rather then hand pass it. Well done Jem Jem! I say this every week. We don't keep score but a big well done to Xavier and Gunny on kicking one goal each. Thanks to Noah from the under 9's for coming down to help us out. Great work buddy! Congratulations to Aaron and Xavier for winning our Bakers delight encouragement award and to Will for winning our Bowling encouragement award. Every week, we have great parents who offer their time to help us out and believe me, it doesn't go unnoticed. So thanks to Jeremy, Paul, Ben, Darren, Andrew and James. Thanks to Jordo and moggs from the 14's who ran water today too. Best-Team Effort Well done our little superstars. Shane.

WYNDHAMVALE 16 - 11 - 107 Def WERRIBEE CENTRALS 2 - 5 - 17

Good to be back on the winning list this week against our old rivals Werribee Centrals. On a miserable day we started off slowly and scores were level at the first break. The second quarter we kept them scoreless while we kicked 5 goals. We didnt play that well in this quarter with our forward line being too crowded and our decision making when we had the ball leaving a lot to be desired. Things picked up in the last half when Centrals started to tire, we opened up the forward line and started to use the ball much better. It was good to see our work rate increase this week with us willing to work a lot harder to help our team mates. This was a focus for us before the game, along with our accountability, self control, discipline and better use of the ball. We improved in these areas but there is still more improvement needed. If we can keep building on this each week we will be at a high level by the business end of the season. Goals :- Dani, Huddo 3, Matt R, Stefan, Rocket, Jhosh 2, Coco, Jason. Best :- Jason, Carlos, Rocket, Jhosh, Sheldon, Stefan, Monty, Dani, Andy & Dom. Sacrificial acts were at a season high 140 this week. Well Done. Thats all folks. HI Everyone, I would like to start this weeks newsletter with an apology. Sorry for no newsletter last week. I had the s#!*s. However, this week is a different story. Although we just fell short on the scoreline, our boys played their best game of footy so far. An increased level of intensity, tenacity, desire, pressure and all that it takes to win a game of footy saw our boys really take it up to the top side of the competition. The boys were switched on from the first bounce and at quarter time I think we were a point up. After the first break the boys continued on their mission and the scores were level at half time. The third quarter was a cracker and at the last change we were a point up. By this stage so was the coaches blood pressure. Game on going into the last quarter, and our boys were fighting tooth and nail with a real belief they could win the game. However, Hoppers kicked two quick goals to make the difference 11 points. To their credit our boys did NOT drop their heads and continued to fight right to the end. The ball spent the last few minutes of the game in our forward line and unfortunately we just couldn't score. I am extremely proud of our troops, not only did they earn the respect of the opposition and evryone else at the ground, they did the Wyndhamvale Football Club proud. Goals- Boo 2, Matty.C 1. Best -Tyson, The Bear, Scotty, Mouldy, Matty.J. Wyndhamvale 1-1-7 Def by Hoppers Crossing 13-15-93

Today we made the very short trip over to Hoppers Crossing to play the top of the ladder. With barely a full team we took to the field with a lot of hope and determination. We were soon down to only 16 players on the field with Tyler and James both getting injured within the first 10 min. It was pleasing to see that when the siren went at qtr time you all came off the ground with the look of determination to keep going and not give up. The second qtr was brilliant!! We had run all over the ground, and tackles were sticking, our talk was loud, and not one of you were going to let the ball get passed you without a fight. With our opposition having 2 extra boys on the field, we couldn't man them all up. This was the best qtr of football that I had seen so far this year, that was until the 3rd qtr.. Once again you boys rocked it. Some of you were getting tired, some of you were so wet and full of mud, and for the rest well we were all standing on the sidelines watching some unbelievable things from our kids. Our last qtr topped it again, with everyone still talking, tackling, running, manning up, we even managed to get a score on the board. I was more impressed with the way you all held your heads up high, shook the hands of your opposition and congratulated them all individually. Some people may look at the above score and say that we have been smashed But the truth is.. Out of the 16 players that finished todays game, 7 of them are technically eligible to play in Under 11s. My 16 boys proved that its not about their age, or their height, nor is it about their skill levels. They showed us that it was about teamwork, determination, and a lot of guts..Oh and some fun as well. Congratulations to Arden for winning the Braveheart award. Goals: Luke Best: Arden, Iziah, Vinny, Lukas, Brayden, Luke Well Done Boys! Charlie Youth Girls Wyndhamvale 13-11-89 def Craigieburn 1-2-8

Craigieburn on a rainy day, we were stiff to get that on the fixture! Easily a 10 goal better team then them, and in the end the scoreboard showed it. We need to make sure when we do play a team we think we will beat that we don't get sucked into just going through the motions. These types of games is where we need to practice our game plan at 100% so when we come up against a team in the top 4 we are able to use it! As a team you all responded well again to what the coaches said, every time we brought you off you all went back on and did it. Things to work on: - Our first quarters so far this year have been very slow starts, we need to hit Sunbury and St. Albans off with a bang if we are to take it to them. - we are scared to pick up the ball knowing a bump is coming our way. What we are doing well: - outside run and spread is great, we are quick and we are using it to our advantage - forward line is functioning very well with multiple goal kickers each week - our mids are winning most clearances. - backline is really starting to play as a unit. Keep up this awesome work as we head into the middle of the year. We fix these problems and we can go deep into finals! Good luck to the girls in interleague this weekend, everyone else enjoy a Saturday sleep in woo! Go vales!!
