• Thus Perpendicular / Base = 1
• 300/ Base = 1

• Now solving for flag: tan 60 = sqrt(3)
• Perpendicular / 300 = Sqrt(3)
• Perpendicular = 300 *sqrt(3) = 519.62
• Thus the height of flag is 519.6 – 300 = 219.6
answer.

Solve the following?
• Two numbers when divided by a certain
divisor leave remainders 238 and 342
respectively. When the sum of the two
numbers is divided by the same divisor,
the remainder is 156. Find the divisor.

• (3) 424 (4) Cannot be determined

Solution
• 238 + 342 =580
• Now deduct 156 from this:
• 580 – 156 = 424 answer.

Solve it. . . .
• If the hands of a dock coincide for every
• 64 minutes, Then how much time does the
clock gain or lose per day?
• Solution:
• Ideally the clock should take 60 * 60/55 time
for coinciding. = 65.4545
• Thus the clock is 1.45 minutes faster when it
has covered 64 minutes. If it takes (24*60)
minutes, it will be faster by =32.727 minutes
answer. .
In a day of 24 hours, how many
times do the hands of a clock make
an angle of 180’?
• There is a gap of 65 (approx.) minutes

between two such occasions.
• So answer is (24*60)/ 65 = 22.15 or
• 22 times answer.

Solve it
A person covered the fIrst 40 km of his
journey at 50 km/hr. the next 70 km at 35
km/hr and the remaining distance in 12
minutes. If the average speed for the
entire journey is 52 krn/hr, then find the
distance covered in the last stretch of the
journey.
(1) 22km (2) 34km (3) 40km,
(4) 46km

Solution
• Total time =
• 40/50*60 + 70 / 35*60 + 12
• =180 minutes or 3 hours
• Total distance travelled : 52*3 = 156 KM.
• Thus the distance travelled in last journey
is : 156 – (40 + 70)
• = 46 KM answer.

Solve it
• The distance between two stations Bikaner and
Nagour is 120 km. A train starts from Bikaner at
9a.m. with a speed of 40 kmph while another
train starts from Nagour to Bikaner at a speed of
40’kmph at 10 a.m After one hour, the first train
halts for 16 minutes at a station before Nagour.
It then continues the journey while the second
train does not halt anywhere. At what time do
the two trains meet?
• (1) 11.08.005 a.m. (2) 11:15a.m.
• (3) 11:05:30a.m. (4) 11:10:30 am.
Solution
• The first train covers 40 KM. Then the
second train starts. In next 16 minutes, it
covers : 10.66 KM.
• Now both the trains are running in
opposite direction.
• Total distance = (120 – 40 – 10.66) =69.34
• Speed = 40+40 time = 52.005 minutes
• Thus the trains will meet at 10.16 +.52.005
= 11.08.005 answer.
A train travelling at 72 kmph starts
overtaking a motorcyclist travelling at 36
kmph at 4 p.m. and overtakes him in 20
seconds. Then the train travels for
exactly half an hour and starts crossing
another motorcydist travelling at 36
kmph in the opposite direction. When will
tho second motorcyclist meet the first
motorcyclist?

Solution
distance covered by the train in half an hour
= 72 *30.33/60 =36.396
Distance travelled by the first motercyclist in
this time = 36 *30.33/60 =18.198
Thus distance between the two motorcyclist
is 18.198. Time to be taken up
= 18.198/(36+36) = 15.16 minutes
=4.00 +.30+ 15.16 = 4.45 (approx) answer.

• Angle O is double the angle A. Thus it is

• =83 – x
• Let us sum up for two angles:
• (180+180 ) = 360
• 83-x + 83 – x + 180+2X = 360
