PRODUCING ARTISTIC DIRECTOR PICTPITTSBURGH IRISH AND CLASSICAL THEATRE, Pittsburgh, PA ABOUT THE JOB: Pittsburgh Irish and

Classical Theatre (PICT), Pittsburghs third largest dramatic theatre company, with an annual budget of $1.1 million, currently seeks a dynamic, experienced Producing Artistic Director to lead the company into the foreseeable future and beyond. PICT productions focus on challenging subjects and material, and the company is well-known and prides itself for routinely achieving superior work in acting, directing, and stagecraft. PICTs mission is to be committed to the creation of high quality, professional thought-provoking theatre of substance. We accomplish this by investing in and promoting the community and region, and by producing and presenting theatre classics and the modern classics of Irish and world theatre. We continue to explore innovative ideas that showcase the emotional power of a play and its ability to stir the soul in unimaginable ways. The Producing Artistic Director is ultimately responsible for the long-term sustainability of the organizational vision and mission through the setting of realistic budgets with corresponding company activities aimed at maintaining high quality artistic theatre product within the organizations financial capacity. REQUIREMENTS: Strong knowledge of Irish and Classical Theatre. Ability to travel to scout plays and talent. Skilled in the creative processes, such as directing, writing, performing, or designing. Ability to maintain professional demeanor with internal and external constituents, especially at critical or challenging times. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal (over the phone and in-person). Effective and professional leadership and management experience. Self-directed but also able to work with a team. Familiarity with basic office and computer equipment and programs. RESPONSIBILITIES: Develop, build, and budget artistic product in conjunction with senior staff and the board of directors. Work within approved budgets and make programming decisions or recommendations as varying situations arise. Oversee and prepare strategic planning for future growth. Prepare regular program reports including performance indicators for staff and board. Report directly to the Board of Directors on a regular basis to give an update on artistic and organizational activity and progress against strategic goals. Staff and maintain a programming committee. Supervise office and production staff in a manner that maintains the utmost in professionalism. Direct staff on development, marketing, education, and administrative matters. Participate in individual and division goals process. Ensure timely reporting of pertinent program and company information to senior staff and the board of directors.

Execute curtain speeches or provide for a staff substitute. Attend and contribute at staff, board and committee meetings. Act as a spokesperson for the organization's artistic purpose via speaking engagements, public and social appearances, and at fundraising events and solicitations. Foster the development of productive relationship with major funders, i.e. foundations, individuals, and government funders. Foster the development of productive relationships with other cultural organizations by participating in meetings and joint activities where appropriate. Hire, supervise and evaluate artistic personnel including directors, performers, designers, and stage managers Direct a minimum of two shows per year.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 10 years minimum in management and supervision of a year-round, subscriber-based theatre company.
