Response Journal of Julius Caesar One of the greatest work from Shakesphere, Julius Caesar drama. This is the second task for our class to read a drama which created by Shakesphere. Honestly this kind task has a high difficulty for me, personally i tried very hard just to get the meaning and understand of it. Two weeks has been passed since my lecturer gave my class an assignment to analysed the Tragedy of Julius Caesar drama script. The assignment supposedly was to be collected after a week but it seems my class didnt do well so they got two weeks actually to done the assignment, Well it only to my class, i got a weeks more because several missunderstanding. The drama writer, Shakespeare, used an archaic English language in his writting, i just only know that he were lived on the Elizabethan Period, so that there are so many archaic words contained of it. Which are very confusing for me to get straight to the points. Shakesphere have a writing style in every literature works he creates. He always use a serious approach in making the story line, and often used what in literature said blank verse or unrhymed verse. It also showed in his drama Julius Caesar, which place based on ancient Rome. The theme itself unique, it tells all about envious, conspiration and power struggling in that era. Even it called Julius Caesar drama, the tragedy itself are within Brutus. Thus, he became the central figure of this story. Things that he experienced, the reason he wanted to kill his own best friend Caesar, about a deep sense of guilt over what he have done, being told in this story deeply. Julius Caesar present on this drama just become key figure as the story was unfolded. The story began with the description of the situation in Rome after the war ended, which exalt by Caesar. His people are over joyous after his expedition got another triumph. As the story flows, the glory day was accompanied by the darkness in some people hearts, in one side there are people whom admire Caesar, but some are over cautious and jealous to him. The jealous ones were frighten that the Caesars triumph over war resurrects the tyranny in Rome once again. Caesar opposition side are helpless by themselves to tried to kill Caesar, thus they make an approach to Brutus whom closest friend to Caesar. There was the conspiration began. Brutus got dilemma after conducting negotiations with the conspirators is to think whether he would do it later against Caesar. In a time, he believes that what he did was right for the prosperity of Rome, also to show that he also has the honor of being the same as that Caesar had. He was supported by the conspirator (Casca, Cinna and others) for his idea. Actually, Caesar himself had received a warning of a survival prediction letter he received, but he ignored the warning. The one that are still being a threat to them are only Antony. Caesar was killed a short story, his stomach was

stabbed by a sword. The tyranny figure was gone now as Brutus and his companion planned. After Caesar's death, The Romans are shocked by the news from Brutus in his public speech arranged by Casca, note that the Rome peoples highly value Caesar which cannot be replaced by anyone. As story flows, Brutus thinks that Casca were not peoples whom he trust over long time. Then he went with Cassius to gathered strength to prepared attacked by Antony whom he thinks will take revenge. Meanwhile, at that time Brutus dreamed being haunted by Caesar's ghost who said that he was at fault for what has happened. Brutus was shocked. At the end of the story Brutus gave up by the power of Antonius and Octavius build. Later on, Brutus was dead, but on his death he still honored as a noble man in Rome kingdoms. After I read it, the story comes interesting for me even some word couldnt make me do understand. Great power comes with great responsibility. Conspiring, strategists, dilemma, guilty feeling, and lust of power, is kind of adventure and moral story to me. But as the Shakesphere master piece, it always ended with tragedy. The human characters of Brutus are very touching. It represent of what actually happen in human society. The plot make as story as whorle of victims are caused by power struggle over the crown. This story also teaches loyalty to ours life. The needs of equal minds over priority and sharing opinion towards the others are important as well as loyalty and honestly to ones self.
