Professional Goals
I hope to become a secondary teacher of English and psychology where I am interested in successfully
creating a positive learning environment and a community of learners. I am seeking an internship that will
allow me to learn from those around me and to gain first hand experience in the classroom.

• Observed, planned, and taught lessons in literature for sixth grade English students
• Gained knowledge and expertise in classroom management skills
• Maintained a series of reflections about my teaching experiences and observations

January 2008-April 2008 Field Placement at Pattengill Middle School, Lansing, 2 hrs/week
• Observed teaching practices in a seventh and eighth grade Special Education classroom
• Tutored students who needed help with reading, writing, and comprehension
• Assisted in an after-school tutoring program where I helped students finish their assignments for
any subject needed, but I mainly focused on English related topics

Personal Interests
Reading, writing, baking, and music. Other interests include track, where I was elected captain of the
Brighton High School Girls Track and Field Team for two seasons and was also named Scholar Athlete from
2003-2005. I hope to eventually coach girl’s track and field at the high school level.
