Professional Goals
I hope to become a secondary teacher of English and psychology where I am interested in successfully
creating a positive learning environment and a community of learners. I am seeking an internship that will
allow me to learn from those around me and to gain first hand experience in the classroom.

January 2008-April 2008 Field Placement at Pattengill Middle School, Lansing, 2 hrs/week
• Observed teaching practices in a seventh and eighth grade Special Education classroom
• Tutored students who needed help with reading, writing, and comprehension
• Assisted in an after-school tutoring program where I helped students finish their assignments for
any subject needed, but I mainly focused on English related topics
September 2005-December 2005 Tutor at Pleasant View Magnet School, Lansing, 2 hrs/week
• Tutored kindergarten-aged students in reading and comprehension-building activities
• Assisted in one-on-one tutoring
• Observed student-teacher interactions and various teaching practices
August 2007-Present Resident Mentor, Michigan State University, Residence Life, East
Lansing, MI
• Assist residents with new adjustments entering into the college atmosphere
• Actively listen to resident’s concerns and provide problem solving solutions
• Provide guidance and counsel residents to better their lives
• Organize events and activities to engage social networking between residents and their peers

Personal Interests
Reading, writing, baking, and music. Other interests include track, where I was elected captain of the
Brighton High School Girls Track and Field Team for two seasons and was also named Scholar Athlete from
2003-2005. I hope to eventually coach girl’s track and field at the high school level.
