The Importance of Gods Will

Gods limitless power is irresistible in heaven and on Earth. It is not like an electric power point that can be used for any purpose. His power can only be used to achieve purposes approved of by Him.

God will not allow His power to be used to do the will of man.
Gods power is only available to accomplish His will. By limiting His power to prayer requests based on His will, God prevents people from using His Holy Spirits power for evil, selfish or careless purposes. (A slight qualification to this statement is made in Chapter 9 Asking Outside of Gods Will.) Some things for which we may wish to ask God, may not really be for our best in the long run. God loves us too much to allow His power to be used for things that are not really for our long-term good. Praying for miracles involves giving ourselves totally over to our God, just as Romans 12:1 says:

I appeal to you therefore, brethren, and beg of you in view of [all] the mercies of God, to make a decisive dedication of your bodiespresenting all your members and faculties as a living sacrifice, holy (devoted, consecrated) and well-pleasing to God, which is your reasonable (rational, intelligent) service and spiritual worship. (Amplified Version)
This verse includes all of the specific things that we would want Him to do for us. We must commit all our desires to God, asking Him what He wants us to trust Him to do for us. To find out His will about what specific miracles He wants us to trust Him for, we must do two things.

p.2

First, we must be totally willing to do whatever He

says. The reason why many people are not led by God, is that they
are not really willing to follow what He tells them to. They are the type of Christian who proudly thinks that they know better than God. As Proverbs 3:5 says, in paraphrased form, we should trust in the Lord and

lean not on our own understanding.

How could our small human brains, which cannot understand the notion of infinity, work out things better than a God Who knows everything about everything? It is silly human conceit that makes us believe that we can work out what is best for us. Think how small we are compared with the universe-the universe is small when compared with God. God will often not tell us what type of prayer request it is His will to answer, unless we have begun to be willing to only request from Him whatever He tells us to request. The second thing we must do in finding Gods will about what prayer requests He will answer is to know what He promises to

answer. The Bible is our main source of knowledge of Gods will.

Unless we search it a lot, we will be in doubt about Gods will and will not be able to pray in faith and get answers to our requests.
