THE JOPLIN OUTREACH TRIP

Hello Dear Friends & Loved Ones!
It is so great to be able to begin this newsletter with a report of the wonderful things that happened on our recent outreach trip to Joplin! On May 24-26 we brought another team from the Missions Base here at IHOP-KC to Joplin for a weekend of worship & prayer, ministry, and outreach. We felt led by the Lord to base our ministry this time at Watered Gardens Mission where our long-time friends, James & Marsha Whitford, are directors. We have always felt a kinship in the Spirit with them, and with the mission God has called them to in Joplin. We brought a team of 12 from IHOP-KC, and 4 interns came and joined us from Mercy House of Prayer in Alma, including Jordan & Sarah! We began the weekend on Friday night at Watered Gardens Mission where we ate supper with the guys who were staying at the shelter that evening. Then we broke out the guitars & djembes, and had a spontaneous time of acoustic worship, and sharing testimonies. It was really great and ended in a time of small group prayer with the guys. During that time, Steve Anzelc, who was with us again on the team, met a man named Charlie who told Steve that he would really like to be baptized. After talking to James about it, and talking to Charlie, we knew that he truly understood what baptism and following Jesus meant! So, on Saturday afternoon we all went to Shoal Creek and baptized Charlie!

There are several more pictures on the next page from the Joplin trip (thanks Jessianna!). On Saturday morning we arrived back at Watered Gardens Mission at 6 a.m. to fix breakfast for the guys. Then we led two morning worship & prayer sets in the Upper Room. The presence of the Lord just filled the room, and it reminded us of the hours & hours we have spent in the past at Watered Gardens Mission in the Upper Room just worshiping, praying, and asking the Holy Spirit to visit Joplin. At lunch on Saturday we had a cookout outside, and many people came and were ministered to by our team. On Saturday evening we were at Joplin Family Worship Center where we had an awesome time fueling the worship & prayer that David Carnine is leading there! We also had a great time of ministry to people at the end of the service. We finished our trip on Sunday morning back at Watered Gardens Mission where we led the morning service, and prayed for many people to receive healing and breakthroughs. It was an awesome trip!

The Adventure of Finding a House!

As most of you know, our house in Joplin has finally sold! The closing was postponed three times, but we finally closed on May 31st. We have been living in temporary housing since moving to KC last November, and have now lived in 4 different houses in 6 months! We are seeking the Lord for a more permanent housing solution, so we have just in the past few days put an offer on a townhouse in Greenfield Village, next to the IHOPU campus. It is a 3-bedroom, 2 bath townhouse, with 1800 sq ft, and a full unfinished basement. There is a nice big patio out back, and a 2-car covered carport. We feel like this would be a great location for our family, so were asking everyone to please pray that our offer will be accepted. We will keep you all posted!

SUMMER PLANS ARE TAKING SHAPE!

This will be our first summer at the IHOP Missions Base, and it looks to be a busy one! Both Joy and Jessianna will be involved in an 8-week Student Ministries Leadership Program. Joy is one of the Student Ministries leaders and will be mentoring some of the girls in the leadership program, as well as leading a prophetic journaling part of the program with all the youth. Jessianna was asked by Student Ministries to be one of 14 youth they invited into the program, which is really a privilege for her. But its going to be pretty intense, so please be praying for her, and for Joy and all the students and leaders in the program. We believe there is going to be great fruit! Melissa & I, as parents, are somewhat involved behind the scenes as well fixing meals and doing some other basic helps with the program. Also, our 15-passenger van will be their main vehicle for the summer, so pray it holds up! Actually the van has been a great blessing, and weve not only used it for our own Joplin outreach trips, but it has been used by other departments here for outreaches too. A couple weeks ago, Orphan Justice Center borrowed the van for a weekend trip to Springdale, AR where they ministered to a large group from the Marshall Islands who live in that area. There is amazing transformation going on there! And this week, the van is being used to take a group of high-school age young men who are being mentored on a campout in Colorado. Speaking of young men, Jonathan is doing great, and has made a lot of friends here. He got a job with a local roofer this summer, and just started roofing his first house this week. He is also planning on attending 2 tracks of summer camp here Awakening Teen Camp and Music Academy. Summer plans for Melissa and I have taken a somewhat abrupt turn! We have been meeting with various leaders here on the Missions Base discussing the possibility of becoming full-time staff. We have been Prayer Room Staff since our arrival, but we feel the Lord is leading us to become even more involved. So, we have made the decision to enter the first track of internship on July 5 th in order to pursue becoming full-time staff. The internship lasts 12 weeks, and involves 50 hours a week of classes, prayer room time, small group meetings, and service. It also requires $2,400 tuition for both of us to take the internship. So, please pray with us for provision of the funds we need and for the Lords working in us this summer to prepare us for a greater role serving on the Missions Base and in the global prayer movement.

OTHER NEWS and SOME IMPRESSIONS FROM THE LORD

We announced in the last newsletter that Jessianna was asked to sing a song that she wrote as a special at the Sunday morning meeting of Forerunner Christian Fellowship. Well, although it was postponed twice, she finally sang the special at both morning services on May 19 th, and it was awesome! Heres a couple pictures:

We asked that you all would be praying for us as we were the speakers at the IHOP Life Initiatives Townhall Rally on May 28th. This is a monthly meeting where everyone on the Missions Base who is

involved in pro-life ministries gathers for encouragement and to share information about what is going on. We shared the story of the dreams that Joy and I had before the Joplin tornado in which I was depicted as meeting the President and pleading with him to end abortion in America, and in which Joy was given the date of 5-29-11 the date I did end up meeting President Obama and asking him to remember the unborn. Well, we shared our story, and ended the evening with praying for the President and his family, and it was really a powerful time. While we were praying, the Lord gave me an impression of a strategy regarding praying for President Obama. I had never seen this before! He showed me that in the same way that He had united my heart with Joys heart about this issue and had given us both dreams, He also wants to unite President Obamas heart with his own daughters on this issue. I especially felt that Sasha was the daughter that President Obama would be united to in like-hearts about the ending of abortion. I feel that He may even give them both dreams, like He gave to Joy and me. After I shared this at the meeting, one of the young men who is a leader in Life Initiatives came up front and said that he had brought a book along with him for some reason which was a book of names and their meaning (like parents use for searching names for their babies). He looked up Sasha and was amazed! The book said that Sasha means defender of mankind, and that its spiritual connotation is Heart of God! The Scripture it listed was Deuteronomy 10:18, which is speaking of God and says He executes justice for the fatherless and the widow, and loves the sojourner, giving him food and clothing. I believe this is a confirmation that Sasha does have a destiny of carrying the heart of God in defending the unborn, and bringing justice to them, so many of whom are indeed fatherless. As a result of our sharing at this meeting, the IHOP-KC Life Initiatives department has now begun 2 prayer meetings a week for the President and his family! We will be attending one of them every Wednesday at 11 a.m. We are also becoming more involved ourselves with Life Initiatives here at the Missions Base, and will be meeting with their leadership team regularly for prayer and discussion together, as well as beginning to serve as much as our schedule permits while we are in the 12-week internship. After the internship, we believe this may be one of the areas the Lord leads us to serve and lead in on the Missions Base. Before I close this newsletter, let me share a final impression I had from the Lord recently while I was praying in the Global Prayer Room. It was on June 1st, our wedding anniversary (33 years!). It was Saturday afternoon, and Misty Edwards was leading a devotional set by herself. Suddenly, she began singing an oracle from the Lord, and a spirit of revelation began to move in the room regarding the time and season we are in. It was a powerful moment as the Lord began to speak through Misty, saying, Its the calm before the storm. She sang & spoke, Blow the trumpet in Zion, Sound the alarm! Its not too far away. If the watchmen do not sound the alarm, who will survive? And then she sang again, Its the calm before the storm. Its a time of confusion many people are confused by the calm. DONT BE CONFUSED! As I prayed and meditated upon what Misty was singing and speaking, the Lord impressed upon me that this is the time to Get oil. I remembered Him speaking to me several months ago w hile we were in Joplin, in the midst of making our decision to move to Kansas City, and He showed me that personally I needed to Get oil in this season. The old song says, Give me oil in my lamp, keep me burning I believe this is a word for all of us This is the time, this is the season, dont be confused by the calm, but GET OIL for your lamp. If you have been being distracted away from personal prayer and time in the Word ask the Lords help to get back to it! Things are not going to continue as they have for too much longer, change is closer than we know, and its time to prepare by getting oil from the Lord. That way our lamps will continue burning brightly during the dark season that lies just ahead. Must close for now. We thank God for all of you, and were praying for you! May you all be blessed and comforted by the Lord. Because He is worthy of it all, Jim & Melissa Marcum & family Our contact information: The Marcums P.O.
