Musical and Dance Competition

ChE Says YES: Youth for Environmental Service General Guidelines 1. The contestant(s) in any event must be a bona fide Chemical Engineering student of Bicol University. 2. The names of the contestants should be submitted to the secretariat committee not later than a week (exactly seven days) before the event at the PIChE Office. 3. There would be no changing of contestants allowed for any event. Only the names appearing on the submitted registration form will be honored as contestant. 4. It is the contestants responsibility to signify their presence one (1) hour before the competition. 5. The contestant(s) who failed to come at the designated time and place should be disqualified. 6. All musical accompaniments/songs to be used in any event that necessitates them must be submitted to the technical committee three (3) working days before the event. 7. For every event having NO representative, a corresponding negative five (-5) points will be given. 8. Organizers and facilitators are not allowed to join in any event of this competition. 9. Violation of any guideline on any event means disqualification on that particular event. Thus, rule number 7 will be imposed. 10. The decision of the Board of Judges should be final, binding and irrevocable.

Pointing System: 1st Place 20pts. 2nd Place 15pts. 3rd Place 10pts. 4th Place 5 pts

A. Vocal Solo a. Specific Guidelines and Mechanics 1. Each year level should send two (2) contestants for these events. One Male and one female. 2. The contestants must be in their most appropriate attire. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 3. The contestants shall render one English or Filipino song of their choice, which must not contain any subliminal, sexually suggestive or vulgar lyrics. Remixes and song medleys will not be allowed. Lip-synchronization is strictly prohibited. Noncompliance will result in AUTOMATIC disqualification. 4. Accompanying music should be a minus-one or a live band. Singing acapella will not be allowed. 5. The time of the performance should be from three (3) to five (5) minutes. A corresponding one point from each judges average score shall be deducted from the total score for every minute or fraction thereof in excess or less of the time allotted. The time of the performance starts with the first note of the music. b. Criteria for Judging Voice/Tonal Quality 40% Interpretation /Musicality 30% Stage Presence 20% Over-all Dynamics 10% B. Vocal Duet a. Specific Guidelines and Mechanics 6. Each year level should send two (2) contestants for this event. 7. The contestants may be both males, both females or a male and female. 8. The contestants must be in their most appropriate attire. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 9. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 3. The contestants shall render a English or Filipino song of their choice, which must not contain any subliminal, sexually suggestive or vulgar lyrics. Remixes or song medleys will be allowed. E. Interpretative Dance a. Specific Guidelines and Mechanics 1. Each year level should send two (2) to three (3) contestants for this event. 2. The dance should be in the Lyrical Hip-hop category. 3. The contestants must be in their most appropriate attire. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 4. A time limit of three (3) to five (5) minutes will be enforced. A corresponding one point from each judges average score shall be deduct ed from the total score for every minute or fraction thereof in excess or less of the time allotted. The time of the performance starts with the first note of the music or the first movement, whichever comes first. b. Criteria for Judging Execution and Performance Interpretation and Synchronization Originality and Creativity of Choreography Difficulty of Routine Mastery (Timing and Rhythm) Over-all Impact

F. Dance Sports a. Specific Guidelines and Mechanics 1. Each year level should send one (1) pair for this event. 2. The contestants must be in their most appropriate attire. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 3. The competition will consist of the following dance categories: Cha-cha, Samba, Tango, Rumba and Jive. 4. Each category will last a minute and a half. 5. The four pairs will be dancing alongside with the other pairs. 6. The background music or song accompaniment for each dance category will only be revealed only during the competition. b. G. Modern Dance a. Specific Guidelines and Mechanics 1. Each year level should send seven (7) to ten (10) contestants for this event. 2. The contestants must be in their most appropriate attire. Costumes must be decent and appropriate for the competition. 3. A time limit of four (4) to eight (8) minutes will be enforced. A corresponding one point from each judges average score shall be deducted from the total score for every minute or fraction thereof in excess or less of the time allotted. The time of the performance starts with the first note of the music or the first movement, whichever comes first. b. Criteria for Judging Execution and Performance Originality and Creativity of Choreography Mastery (Timing and Rhythm) Difficulty of Routine Over-all Impact
