ABSTRACT

Airtel a venture of Bhakti Enterprise is a major Telecom venture. Its services are spread over 13 states. It has got huge customer base 6 million people. This project titled Market Analysis of Airtel Prepaid Cards gives a clear idea of market share of Airtel prepaid cards in Pune city area. It also gives brief idea of major advantages and shortcomings of Airtel prepaid cards This report is an outcome of customer survey method which was used as a major tool. In all 50 prepaid card users were interviewed personally and through questionnaire method. The questionnaire contained several questions about their personal details and about prepaid cards they use The main of this research is to understand customer needs and wants and means to satisfy them and to understand the shortcomings of Airtel prepaid cards if any.

INTRODUCTION OF RESEARCH CONCEPT

Research is composed of two words re and search which mean to search again and again. It is an activity that Takes place in all the areas like education, medicine, society at large etc. the main purpose of research is to offer something new t the society for its well-being. Research can be defined as: Research refers to a critical & exhaustive investigation of experimentation. Having as its aim the revision of accepted conclusion in the light of new discovered facts. A careful critical enquiry of examination is seeking facts or principles diligent investigation in order to ascertain something. Research is an endeavor to discover, develop & variety knowledge. It is an intellectual process that has developed over hundreds of years and always searching for truth. There are two broad classification of research:1. Research in physical or natural science. 2. Research in social or human science.

1. Reasearch in physical or natural science:Physical science deals with things, which can be put to laboratory test under guided conditions. This research deals with physical phenomenon upon which man has complete control. 2. Research in social or human science:Research in social science are based on human behavior which is influenced by various factors such as physical, social, economic, physiological etc. we can never hope to put such human brings to laboratory tests.

What is a SIM Card?

The SIM- Subscriber Identity Module-is a chip card, the size of a first class postage stamp, a tiny computer in GSM (Global System for Mobile) phone. It is a key element in over 600million GSM mobile phones representing about 70 percent of the mobile handset market. It has memory for data and applications, a processor and the ability to interact with the user. Current SIMs typically has 16 to 64 kb. Of memory, which provides plenty of room for storing hundreds of personal phone numbers, text messages and value added services. A SIM identifies the user accounts to the network, handles authentication and provides data storage for user data such as phone numbers and network information. SIM cards can be programmed to display customs menus for personalized services and all the applications that run on the phone.

Benefits: For making a call from some other phone the only thing one needs to do is, use your SIM card in the new set. Your personnel phone directory becomes available to you & the call data goes into your account. If you loose the phone & the only thing you need to do is deactivate the SIM card

& get it activated with the same number in your new cell phone. The only thing is that is that you will loose all your data saved in the SIM-card

Voice Mail This feature allows voice messages to be delivered to your mail box in instances where you cannot be reached, your phone is switched off or you miss a call. There is no rental or registration fee for this service; however, there is a charge of 99 cents per minute to listen to your messages. You would need to call 600600 for a free registration before setting up your voice mailbox

The graph represents the distribution of customers according to the brand of mobile. Out of 50 customers according to the brand of mobile. Out of 50 customers maximum customers i.e. 15 use IDEA prepaid card, AIRTEL prepaid cards ranks second as 12 out of 50 customers prefer it . Further we can see that 10 customers are using BSNL, 8 customers are with RELIANCE, where as the least customers i.e. 5 are HUTCH For taking Aires-s share we have divided the above graphical information into pie chart to get the percentage share of AIRTEL. As per the pie-chart represent the data we can find the share of Airtel, which is 24% of the total sample size.

CONSUMER DISTRIBUTION AS PER OCCUPATION

The graph represents the distribution of the customers according to their occupation. In the sample size of 50 customers, the salaried people hold first position as the largest group using phone. They are followed by business as 12 out mobile of 50 customers are involved in business. 9 out of 50 customers are students, followed by 8 professionals. Housewives also use mobile phones but their number is not very significant.

The above graph represents age-wise distribution of customers. The age group event is mutually exclusive events. The distribution according to present age group is deliberately done to know the exact age of maximum number of users. Here the age group 23-26 shows the maximum numbers of mobiles phone user is 18. The age group 27-30 follows it as 12 customers belong to this group. The age group customers are in the age group 19-22 and 4 customers are in the age group 15-18. For taking the percentage share of distribution of the customers as per age groups the above graph can be converted into a pie chart.

Here, the age group 23-28 shows the maximum number of shares of people using mobile phones.

CUSTOMER PERCEPTION ABOUT AIRTEL CARDS

The above pie chart represents the perception of different customers about Airtel cards. We can se that 75% of the people are satisfied using Airtel cards. This group constitutes of the people who are the existing users of Airtel and also the people who have shifted to Airtel because of the benefits they are getting from it. The next group of 25% people consist of the Airtel customers who have shifted to another mobile cards as they are not satisfied using it.

Stronger coverageThe company should see that it provides stronger coverage to its customers, by solving any existing technical problems.

Build customers relationsBuilding relationship is the need of the day. Airtel should try to bring customers more near and should also cater to the needs of the new ones.

Attractive schemeAirtel comes up with innovative schemes but it needs to observe that the customers are attracted towards the schemes. An attractive scheme comes up with the aspect of benefiting customers at nominal charges. If effective schemes are innovated Airtel can easily achieve customer delight.

Trade Promotion Some retailers reveal the fact that Airtel Prepaid Cards are becoming more popular and it may hold a higher market share in the future. Attractive trade promotion Scheme is badly needed to push the sales. Most of the retailers have faith in Airtel Prepaid Cards and they are ready to promote these cards if the company offers on attractive schemes.

This project report is made for Bhakti Airtel while making analysis of Airtel Cards. My purpose for this survey report is to study the various aspects of marketing and blend those aspect present them more programmatically. The findings and suggestion are enough to describe the customers and the retailers perception about Airtel Prepaid. The study of market research has opened up to ground reality showing which brand gives retailer more sales. I conclude my endeavor by believing that the company can come to the submit by implementing its best strategic decision along with the suggestion provided by this project. An ever changing market needs an ever-changing market plan, along with the evaluation of competitors plan and the prevailing market situation. So, regular charges in the marketing plan are needed and the company should adopt this to win levels
