Elena Daniela TOPIC: To London with love TIME: 50 TEACHING AIDS: notebooks, handouts, video-projector, and blackboard. SKILLS: reading, speaking, writing AIMS: - the students will use the English language to communicate orally and in a written form about activities related to travelling. -to help Ss identify specific information in a text -to provide key topic vocabulary related to town and country Students will use words related to means of transport/travelling in sentences of their own. ASSUMPTIONS: Ss have been taught Present Simple Tense and will use it to describe and inquire about travelling activities. ANTICIPATED PROBLEMS : Ss may have problems in discussing the advantages and disadvantages of travelling and communicating orally. STUDENT GROUPINGS : pair work , individual INTRODUCTION: The teacher tells the students that they will speak about activities related to travelling and also about London. ACTIVITY 1 : AIM : Warming up and checking homework PROCEDURE : Teacher asks her Ss how they are feeling and then checks the homework INTERACTION : T-S , S-T TIME :7 ACTIVITY 2: (Lead-in) AIM: to stir Ss interest in the lesson PROCEDURE: Presentation in front of the whole class. The teacher shows the students several pictures of different places. The students will have to guess and decide which photos describe London. The teacher uses the computer and the video-projector to display the specific photos, asking What is this?/What does this photo show? POSSIBLE ANSWERS: Its the London Eye. / Its the Eiffel Tower. The students will write down in their notebooks the names of Londons most important attractions. INTERACTION: T-S, S-T TIME: 5 ACTIVITY 3: AIM: to introduce ideas and vocabulary PROCEDURE: The teacher shows the students another slide show about several means of transport existing in London.The teacher asks the students of what means of transport exist in London. Students will work in pairs and answer. T acts as a prompter. She helps them when necessary. INTERACTION: T-S , S-T TIME: 10

ACTIVITY 4: writing/practice AIM: -to improve Ss writing skills PROCEDURE: The teacher explains the students several travel expressions. The students will write down in their notebooks and then make sentences of their own. The teacher gives the students handouts with a wordfilling exercise, matching column exercise. The students will work in group. INTERACTION : T-Ss , Ss-T, group work TIME :10 ACTIVITY 5 : Speaking AIM : to complete a speaking task/improve communication PROCEDURE : T asks Ss to play a part. One student will be the tourist and another student will be the local citizen. The tourist will simply ask for information regarding a place he/she wants to visit using Present Simple Tense. INTERACTION : pair work TIME : 10 ACTIVITY 6 :- Assigning homework the teacher gives the students instructions for the homework assignment: Write a paragraph about a place/a city you would like to visit most. - Teachers appreciation TIME : 3
