Part 1: Swindell Quote: Look at the Quote on Attitude in our Lesson 7 notes, on board as well and go in order 1: Dont Over think this! 2: Now Work w/ a 3: Provide a brief reaction to the quote. The belief that events in ones life, whether good or bad, are caused by controllable factors such as ones attitude, preparation, and effort.

External Locus of Control:


The belief that events in ones life, whether good or bad, are caused by uncontrollable factors such as the environment, other people, or a higher power.

4: Come up with a real life example and explain how someone with an internal vs. external locus of control would handle it differently. If someone were to fail a test, someone with internal locus control would believe that they could have done better and studied more. Someone with external locus of control would believe that the teacher just made a really hard test and that there was no way for them to be successful. Part III: Attitude is the Father of Behavior 1: How does your attitude affect your decisions? Give an example. Attitude affects decisions because it helps decide how you react. For example, if your attitude is angry when someone bumps into you, then youll decide to lash out at the person. 2: Highlight or underline which items we have control over in the equation below. 3: Explain how attitude could be viewed as a decision. Use the term control. Attitude could be viewed as a decision because you have control over your decisions and your attitude and they work together. Attitude helps determine your decisions.
