Gifts of the Spirit
l believe in making right all that has been marred by the fall. Pushing back sins effects with the gospel and enjoying the goodness of God. God is one in three persons; Father, Sons, Holy Spirit. The Godhead is distinct but not . but share the unique essence of God l believe that Jesus was born of a virgin, fully God and fully man. Jesus was the fullfilment of the Messiah fortold in the Old Testament. He died as a propitiation for His people, was buried and rose again on the third day. He ascended into heaven and will return to judge the earth. The declaration of our righteousness, even though we are sinners, imputed to us through the work of Christ. This done according to Gods grace and no merit of our own. Process of being conformed more and more into the likeness of Christ.
Man can never fulfill the law of God aside from Christ, never-the-less man is fully responsible. The understanding that the Lord has maintained and kept relationship with man according to the different covenants he has established. These covenants were established at different times (Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, Land, David, Jesus) All of these covenants were unconditional and depended on God's promises, power, and sovereignty for its fultillment. fulfillment. Baptism is a sign and seal of God's grace applied to believers and their children. (Acts 2:39; Col 2:11,12) Unlike covenant theology, dispensationalism understands the unfolding plan of God in terms of the different dispensations or periods in history in which God relates to humans in different ways. There are many other beliefs and nuances that this theology maintains. l have studied dispensationalism and find the exegetical assumptions of this theological system to be lacking. Biblically the Biblically these gifts marked the messenger of God as authentic. Today the gifts of the spirit are for the edification of the whole body and must be understood properly. Their single purpose is to bring glory to God and must not be used for any other reason. The Bible is the Word of God and is our primary standard of faith. The scriptures are inspired and inerrant in their original texts. l am in agreence with the Westminster Confession of Faith and the Catechisms, however these are subordinate to the Bible in their authority. l also adhere to the Church doctrines outlined by the Apostles' Creed and National Association of Evangelicals which are also subordinate to the Bible. Being the very word of God, the Old and New testament cannons are given by inspiration of God and are to be the Christians rule for faith and life. The Apocrypha is not a part of the Holy cannon as it is not divinely inspired. The whole counsel of God is either expressly contained or deduced from the Word of God. The Word of God is necessary for salvation. The Word of God is inspired and inerrant in their original manuscripts. The tension of enjoying Gods goodness involves both duty and delight. There is only one true and living God who is infinite and perfect. The unified Godhead contains three distinct persons that are of the same substance equal in power and holiness. Contained within the Godhead are the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. The covenant of works was made with Adam. This covenant promised life to Adam and all his descendants upon the condition that Adam maintain perfect and personal obedience. The covenant of grace is an unconditional covenant brought through the person and work of Jesus Christ. This covenant promises life to Gods people upon the condition of Jesus efficacious propitiation on behalf of His people. Written by Calvin as a response to the Remonstrants', these theological conclusions were not the invention of Calvin but an attempt to defend orthodoxy from error. Calvin's thoughts are founded in Holy Scripture and l do not take issue with their conclusions.

The Lord has his elect, it is our privilege and blessing to be instruments in his great plan of redemption. lt is necessary for any healthy church to practice discipline. A mark of the true church, discipline must be done in love and motivated by a desire for the offenders holiness and purity. l believe this personal choice to be secondary to the orthodox theology discussed above. There are many health risks associated with smoking. These risks are not only to yourself but also to those around you. For the health of my body and the consideration of those around me l choose not to smoke habitually. This too is secondary to the orthodox theology discussed above and is a personal choice. That being said there is still a great deal of consideration one must take in making this decision. Drinking may be permissible but it is not always profitable. One must always consider context with discernment always striving for personal holiness and the holiness of others. 30-45 day When l am not studying 4 hrs week NA NA 4 hrs week NA 20 hrs week X
