After receiving message " Teachers please sweep your rooms" teachers will: Visually check their rooms/areas. lf anything is out of place such as an unidentified package or a suspicious looking article, notify administrators. Appropriate personnel will visually check hallways, restrooms, and public areas. lf your class is in apparent or possible danger, be advised by your principal or appropriate authorities. Take a "field trip" away from the problem. Do not alarm students. Do not panic. Evacuation of the building will be an administrative decision. Follow directions from Principal or emergency team.

Remain calm. Stay indoors or outdoors, wherever you are, until tremors stop. Stop, drop, and cover. Take cover under desks, tables, against inside wall or under door ways. Stay alert for possible aftershocks. Check students for injuries and report any to front office. lf gas is smelled, move everyone out immediately. Evacuation: Exit building through nearest safe exit. Avoid downed power lines and open gas lines. Move out of fire lanes. Follow students out and stay with students. Take student rosters, paper and pencil and emergency pack. Take roll to determine if students are missing. Report missing students to principal

Update and post evacuation routes in each room annually. Report incident to office immediately Pull down fire alarm for any fire. Take classroom emergency pack and class roster with you. Exit building through nearest safe exit (Blankets if available) Avoid downed power lines and open gas lines. Move out of the fire lanes. Follow students out and stay with them. Take roll to determine if any students are missing. Report missing students to principal. Report injuries and damage. Unattached students report to a teacher or administrator. Wait for further instructions.

Know the location of gloves, eyewear, and masks. Obtain assistance from nurse to follow exposure incident and reporting procedures. Report incident to office immediately. If first aid is given, follow Universal Precautions. Wear gloves and avoid physical contact with blood or other body fluids. Always wash contaminated areas immediately with soap and water. Dispose of or launder contaminated materials. Request assistance from custodian to clean up area. Clear all students from the area.

Plan is used for fire, bomb threat: explosion, and other crisis requiring evacuation. Update and post evacuation routes in each room annually. Though not considered an immediate crisis, the potential for violence necessitates procedures for visitors in the building. Wear nametags so they are visible at all times. Ask stranger/visitor to report to main office where he/she may obtain a guest pass, button, or badge and sign in. If visitor becomes abusive or confrontational, withdraw to safe area, close and lock classroom door and notify principal/front office. Report all strangers to office.

Report gang identifiers (clothing, signs, colors, and pagers) to office. Report strangers to office. Report rumors of violence to office. Immediate Action: Immediately report acts of violence to office. Keep students in classes and away from crisis area. Close and lock classroom doors and windows. Take roll. Wait for further instructions

Immediately report situation to office. Move students to a safe area away from crisis area. Lock doors and windows, move students to corner of room out of sight of door. Account for students, prepare list of students you have who are not usually in your classroom. Wait for instructions. If Taken Hostage: Get word to office, if possible. Remove students from area, if possible. Do not try to disarm gunman. Keep calm. Follow gunman's instructions. Direct students to be quiet and to sit away from gunman, windows, and exits. Be aware police may be able to hear what is taking place and may enter room at any time. Follow police instructions.

Crisis such as blizzard, medical emergency, and hazardous material spills sometimes necessitate Campus Closure by sheltering in place. Clear halls of students by returning students to primary classroom. Close outside windows, doors. Depending on situation may need to close off ventilations systems, seal around doors and windows. Remain with students. WAIT FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

Lock down will be a term used at this school to refer to a situation, which calls for the isolation of faculty and students. The Principal's office is the control center in all emergency situations. The building administrator will designate a second and a third area. Staff will be notified via intercom: "LOCK DOWN", "LOCK DOWN IMMEDIATELY". a. Custodians and principals to secure main doors and ensure all students are off playground and in building -- Admit no one else. b. Custodians and principals should clear restrooms and hallways and other public areas. Students in library, gym, and music should stay put if possible. c. Teachers should bring any students into their classroom at the time of the lock down. Takes roll and call office. Remain in your secure area until further notice is given. d. Keep students in a secure area until further notice and disregard any bells. e. If the situation warrants a building evacuation, staff members will be notified. REMEMBER THAT YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY IS THE SAFETY OF YOUR STUDENTS AND YOURSELF. DO NOT PUT EITHER IN JEOPARDY.

Actions upon discovering vandalism or a break-in: 1. Do NOT enter building unless you are sure vandals or burglars are no longer on premises. 2. If you believe vandals or burglars are on premises, proceed to nearest phone to call: a. Police 911 b. Building principal or building administrator. 3. If circumstances indicate that vandals or burglars are no longer on premises, employees may enter the building. Immediately Upon doing so, the same call referenced in two above should be made, except that the general business numbers for the policeauthorities should be called:

a. If individuals are subsequently discovered on premises, do not attempt to apprehend unless it is clear that apprehension may be made without risk of personal harm. If unauthorized individuals are discovered on the premises after you enter the building, proceed to a safe haven and call 911 to report that individuals may be on the premises.

b. Attempt to protect property from further loss or destruction as long as you may do so without significant risk of personal harm. c. Except to prevent further loss or destruction of property, do not disturb the scene. Allow the authorities to conduct the investigation. d. If possible, videotape or photograph the scene for the District's use in establishing the nature of the loss.
