The play Macbeth by William Shakespeare, takes place in medieval Scotland where a Man known as, Macbeth is blinded by ambition. Throughout the play Macbeth hears prophecies about himself and his best friend named Banquo. Macbeths prophecy is to be king and Banquos is for his sons to be king. The moment Macbeth hears he will be king, he wants it right away. He is so blinded by his ambition, he lures the king to his castle and Macbeth and his wife kills the king. The murder made the Kings sons look suspicious because they were next in line to become king but they fled to two different countries so they wouldnt be accused of their fathers murder. After the murder of the king Macbeth becomes paranoid. He becomes a dictator and starts to kill his subjects. The kings son Malcolm, comes back and over throne Macbeth at the end and kill him.

O, treachery! Fly, good Fleance, fly, fly, Mac. fly! (Shakespeare 40).
Macbeth and Banquo were like best friends. The three weird sisters tell the two of them that Macbeth will be king and that Banquos sons will be king as well. Macbeth becomes too anxious to become king and lets his ambition blind him. He kills the king and eventually betrays his and Banquos friendship by having him murdered. This relationship is important because just to cover his trail, Macbeth kills his best friend and doesnt think twice about it all because hes blinded by ambition.

Banq.

When you durst do it, then you were a man; And, to be more than what you were, (Shakespeare 17)
Lady Macbeth is the wife of Macbeth. She too gets blinded by her ambition to become queen when Macbeth explains the prophecies of the three weird sisters. She wants Macbeth to kill the king sooner than he wants to but he cannot do it because he was once loyal to him and he keeps second guessing the murder. Lady Macbeth questions Macbeths manhood when he questions himself about the murder. She then takes matters into her own hands. This relationship is important because when youre blinded by ambition you can hurt the ones really close to you, and it shows how your actions can effect the others thats around you.

First, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself (Shakespeare 16).
Macbeth was once one of Duncans most trusted generals. Three witches tells Macbeth his prophecies and he become blinded by ambition. His prophecy was to become King of Scotland, but because he was so blinded by his ambition, he wanted to become king as soon as possible. Macbeth and his wife lure the king to Macbeths castle where they get the kings guards drunk while Duncan is asleep and kill him. This relationship is pivotal because without the three witches talking to Macbeth, he would have never been disloyal to Duncan and killed him. If Macbeth hadnt killed Duncan, everything would still be as it was. Now that Macbeth has become king, Scotland has become hell!

Lesser than Macbeth, and greater. Not so happy, yet much happier (Shakespeare 6).
Banquo is also a general, Macbeths best friend, and a and a very loyal man. When Banquo hears the prophecies of the witches, it sounds good to him but too good to be true. When Duncan dies in Macbeths castle, It makes Macbeth look very suspicious because one of the witches prophecies tells Macbeth he will be king. Banquo notices Macbeth starts acting weird after he hears the prophecies but doesnt say anything. Banquo then goes on about his business as if he had never seen the three weird sisters. This quote shows that Macbeth is responsible for killing Banquo because he is a threat to Macbeth. This is a turning point in Macbeths character because he becomes disloyal to his friendship with Banquo.
