Simple SimpleToy ToyDC DC Motor Motor

Introduction
The Simple Toy DC Motor exhibits the most basic function of a DC motor. It could be used for elementary and secondary scientific experiments in physics to show the relationship between magnetism and electricity.

Materials
Magnetic Wires Magnets DC source

Method
1. Wound the magnetic wires into small coils. 2. Prepare the Dc source and the magnets arrange them in a holding tray. 3. Put the wires in the holding tray. 4. Turn on the DC source.

Results
In this activity the simple toy motor I have made took a handful of trial before it turned appropriately.

Lab Report

In this activity one must be particular in the size of the coils being wound it must not be bigger than the size of the magnets. Also the voltage of the DC source is taken into consideration.

Across the Line Motor Starter Across the Motor Starter For1 and 3Line Phase AC Motor

For 1 and 3 AC Motor

Introduction
AC Motors is used for various purposes in the industry. It could be used in pumps and alike. For bigger AC motors in needs contactor unit to be able to run while smaller units simply needs to be plugged in an AC source. With contactors AC motors would have controls and switches where we can control its start and off.

Materials
Magnetic Contactor Overload Relay 1 and 3 Phase Motors Switches Wires Electrical Tools Multitester

Method
1. Prepare all materials needed. 2. Check Contactors for its normally open and close contacts. Use multitester. 3. Connect all connections in the diagram. Make sure they are all properly and tightly connected. 4. Recheck all connections and test for continuity.

Note: To test for continuity put the multitester probes to L1 and L2 or in the terminals of the male plug. Press start, if there is reading hold it and press stop when there is no reading then your circuit is good to go. If not then recheck connections.

Results
After three trials the circuit worked. The first trial worked but when you stopped holding the start button would simply stop. Indicating that the holding is not energized. After series of checking and rechecking it is found that the normally closed is not working properly in that contactor.

Conclusion
Holding coil must be energized via the connections in the diagram. The normally close and open terminals must be checked properly and although they showed reading in the tester on must check them thrice or more and if in that random trial the multimeter showed wrong reading then think twice before using that terminal.

Across the Line Motor Starter Across the Line Motor Starter For Single Phase AC Motor with Alarms

For Single Line AC Motor with Alarms

Introduction
In any power system, protection is very important. The same is true to the motors. Motors need to have an alarm system indicating its condition or state. In this activity we put alarms using buzzer and colored light bulbs to manifest the systems working state through the use of the functions of a contactor.

Materials
Magnetic Contactor Overload Relay Single Phase Motor Red,Green,Yellow lightbulbs Holders Buzzer Wires Electrical tools Multitester

Method
1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Prepare all materials Check contactor terminals using multitester. Check bulb holders using multitester.there should be a reading. Connect all connections in the wire. Check and recheck connections and check for loose contact. Check for continuity. There should be a reading in the terminals because of the resistance of the bulb.

Lab Report

Results
After doing the activity, we found out that our diagram which we used so we opted to use the diagram formulated by our classmates. In doing so our motor worked.

Conclusion
The normally closed and open terminals play a crucial part in the alarms. Also one cant put parallel bulb in the normally open or closed terminal.

Reversing 1 and 3 Motor Reversing 1 and 3 Motor

Introduction
Reversing motors plays a vital part in the industry. It is mostly used in conveyors and alike. In this activity the three phase motor will be reversed using the concepts in the previous activity and the concept of using the contactors in reversing.

Materials
Magnetic Contactors (2) Overload Relay Three Phase Motor Switches Wires Multitester

Method
1. Prepare all materials 2. Check contactors. 3. Connect all connections. Make sure you have connected all connections in their proper label. 4. Check the connections and for loose contacts. 5. Check for continuity.

Lab Report

Results

We werent able to perform single phase reversing since before our turn the motor got burned. But we know its diagram and its function. For 3 phase motor, this is by far the activity we have been able to perform with just one trial.

Above anything else safety is the most important in this activities. So we must recheck and recheck our work because one single mistake may result in destruction of properly. In three phase reversing, there are a lot of wires which can lead to confusion, so one must be alert and focus on what she is doing. Also it is very important that all connections is tightly connected.

Time Delay Relay Time Delay Relay

Introduction
This activity is done to observe and perform the time-delay relay circuit and observe how it functions with a specified time.

Materials
Timer Bulb Buzzer Holder Multitester Wire Electrical Tools

148

Method
1. 2. 3. 4. Prepare all materials Make sure the timer is properly working and properly labeled. Connect all connections according to the diagram. Check the connections and continuity.

Results
The circuit worked upon first trial.

It is very important that when using the timer or changing the time in the timer the timer itself is not energized.

Star-Delta Motor Starter Star-Delta Motor Starter

Introduction
Star and Delta configuration is widely used in the industry depending on the outcome the application needs. Star is used since it has grounding and Delta is used for applications that needs high voltage output.

Materials
Magnetic Contactors Overload Relay Single Phase and Three Phase Motors Switches Wires Electrical Tools Multitester

Results
On our first trial we blew a fuse. We have putted an interlock in the circuit which caused the circuit to have a shorted line. In our second trial it worked just fine since we removed interlock.

Conclusion
As much as possible follow the circuit diagram being presented. If you have doubts try to analyze it and find for short circuits. Dont put interlock when it is not needed and make sure when you put one it would not result in a short circuit.
