Rose-Petal Honey

Abstract The Rose-Petal Honey as a sandwich spread is introduced to find more alternative ways in using flower petals as an ingredient in making all sorts of recipe. Nowadays, more people are making their own unique version of recipes using rose petals.

CHAPTER I INTRODUCTION A. Background of the Study In ancient history, our ancestors werent as wary in eating flowers. They used petals to add flavor, fragrance, color as well as texture. Rose-petals have this fragrance that is very attracting when smelled. Rose-petals have been confined in sweet dishes and all sorts of recipe. Victorians had many delightful recipes for food incorporating with rose petals like. Rose petal sorbet, Rose-petal jelly and jam and Rose-petal butter. Rose-petals are used all over the world. Now in our modern days scientist and chefs are experimenting and creating recipes and medicine incorporating rose petals.

B. Statement of the Problem Is there any significant difference between a rose petal honey to an average honey? What is the difference of a rose petal honey to an average honey when it comes to aroma, color, texture and taste?

C. Hypothesis Our group wants to aim in this project is to determine what we have examine and what we have in mind is exact to what we want to happen. We want to know will the society click on this idea and to make more out of this experiment when we reinvent the idea and show it to them.

D. Significance of the Study In this study the society as well as the students that the rose and honey can be combined and can be delightful and edible sweets or pastries. It can be easily found in the market. Rose can be found in the backyard, flower shops and as well in the market. It is cheapest and not so expensive ingredient. On the other hand, honey is very popular in sandwich spreads and it has many kinds. Honey can be found in the market or at a bee farm. Rose and honey today has a good flow in the market and it is not usually in demand. This study benefits some families to uplift their bonds to their children while making this product and to provide the nutrition they need in a unique way.

E. Scope and Limitations:

In this study of making rose-petal honey that we must use a right amount of honey as well as the rose-petal in order to make the flavor balance so that it may not become over powerful. We can determine what changes may occur and the difference of this product. But we cannot determine which of them has the most impact when it comes to the flavor itself.

Chapter II Review of Related Literature: Honey is a sweet yellow to amber viscous fluid produced by bees. Other insects can produced the substance but the most common is the one that is produced by bees. Honey is an alternative to sugar and for centuries it is consumed as a sweetener. Nectar itself is composed mainly of sucrose and water. Bees add enzymes that create additional chemical compounds. 80% of natural sugar mostly fructose and glucose, 18% of water and 2% of vitamins minerals pollen and protein. Honey contains 64 calories equivalent to 1 cup of a celery soup. And it has a healthy Glycemic Index (GI) that its sugar helps absorbed into the bloodstream in result of better digestion. Honey contains natural minerals and vitamins which help metabolizing of undesirable cholesterol and fatty acid in the organ tissue preventing obesity and prompting better health.

While Rose-petals has a fragrant, colorful, and velvety smooth texture. Rose has the luxurious and delicious of edible flowers all over the world. Rose petals have health benefits to humans like. It is used to treat internal asthma, high blood pressure, bronchitis, slow circulation, diarrhea, dysmenorrhea, cough, fever, indigestion, insomnia, palpitation, stress, and urinary tract infection. Rose petals helps to get rid of waste and toxic substances in the body through the kidney. The petals effectively combat infections in the digestive system and restore the normal and essential bacteria in the intestines. And many more.

Chapter III Methodology:

A. Materials: >Fresh, scented rose petals (any color) >Plain flavored honey >Chopping board and knife >Strainer >Copper or Pot and scoop >Small jars with lid >Bowl

B. Procedure: >Gather all the materials >First tore the petals from the rose and then put it on a bowl with water. >Then wash the petals and drain the water. >Then after you drain the water chop the petals in to tiny pieces it must be chopped very small so that the children may not notice the petals. >After you chopped the petals let it settle for a while and put the pot to the stove and let it be heated for a while. >Then when the pot is hot turn the stove to low heat then pour the honey and stir. >After a few seconds pour the petals in the pot and stir it gently. Wait for it to thicken and change color. >After its done strain the honey into a small jar then let it cool for a while. >Put it in the frig and its done.

Chapter IV Result and Discussion:

A. Conclusion: We therefore conclude that the Rose-petal honey may be an alternative way in making a strawberry jam. Its because it has the significance of the aroma and taste of a normal strawberry jam. Strawberry jam lovers and children will love this product. Its delicious safe and cheapest spread you can ever make.

B. Recommendation: We know that we used petals in garnishing and adding aroma and sweet taste in recipes. Through this we recommend our product Rose-petal honey as a alternative strawberry jam spread in your sandwich. Most of us didnt know what is behind the secrets and facts in rose petals. With our further studies we can say in the near future that rose petals can be medicine in curing other ailment. Its healthy and at the same time yummy than your ordinary strawberry jam.
