RULING ON SCHEDULE (Issued June 18, 2013)

ELEANOR STEIN, Administrative Law Judge: At the Procedural Conference held on June 11, 2013, parties submitted a joint proposal for a schedule for this case. The schedule, as proposed by the parties, includes an opportunity for any party, including New York State Electric & Gas Corporation (NYSEG, the Applicant), to propose alternative routes for the Columbia County Transmission Project, in addition to those already included in the Application. I will review any additional alternatives filed by October 29, 2013, and afford parties an opportunity to comment on them. For additional

alternatives warranting further study, formal notice to municipalities and potentially affected landowners and site visits are included in this schedule. At the request of the parties, the schedule provides for a hearing, with cross examination, on the subject of the Applicants direct case, prior to the filing of the Staff and intervenor direct cases. The purpose of such a two-hearing

approach is to provide for an early focus on NYSEG's proposed and alternative routes; the proposal of additional alternative routes, if appropriate, might emerge from this process.
