Oiltrac Training provides the participants an up to-date approach to the following needs and outcomes:AIMS To fully enable those

companies with spill response teams who may require to control spills into a wide range of environment. LEARNING NEED At conclusion of this 8-hour (and any additional field exercises) the participants will: 1. Be alerted to the effects of spills into client-specified environments; 2. Have the necessary information to be able to safely and effectively respond to spill incident within those environments; 3. Be fully briefed on the benefits of good housekeeping practices in regards to stored liquids. OUTCOMES Participants will gain knowledge in responding to spills of oils and chemicals and will be actively involved in the setting up and maintenance of spill response equipment and the proper storage, use and disposal of liquids at specified sites. They shall be made more aware of the W.H.S and environmental aspects of spills and be conversant with their responsibilities under the S.O.P's (Standard Operating Procedures) as laid down by their company.

TOLLBOX SPILL TRAINING LEVEL 1 - 1.5HOUR COURSE


PRESENTATION: This training shall be carried out on the workshop floor or any designated area utilising the spill response kits or equipment and S.O.P.'s and shall contain, as a minimum: (1) Identification of spill station/kit locations; Identification of station/kit contents; Identification of potential or apparent spills locations; Outline of existing S.O.P.s regarding oil spill incidents; Identification of W.H.S. factors and potential hazards. (2) Demonstration of capabilities of kit/station contents; Proper handling of sorbents and resultant oily wastes; Demonstration of mechanical pick-up techniques: Instruction in effective housekeeping and restocking of kits/ stations; Progressive verbal quizzes involving all participants. LEARNING NEED: Personnel require to be instructed in the safe and correct procedures, techniques and protocols in the initial reaction to any type of spill within their normal work sites. OUTCOMES: It is expected that personnel instructed in the above procedures and techniques will gain a valuable insight into the reaction to accidental product spills within their area of work and be able to safely and effectively utilise spill equipment. The participants will also be familiar with P.P.E., W.H.S. requirements and/or spill response sorbents or equipment for specific spills. The participants will be instructed to initiate better house-keeping, administration and maintenance of spill equipment. A Certificate of Workplace Spills - Level I will be gained by full attendance and active participation by participants and correct answering of the quiz questions attached in the back of the supplied booklet Workplace Spills*.

BASIC SPILL TRAINING LEVEL 2A - 4 HOUR COURSE


MODULE 1 * Site Safety First - Personal Protection Equipment. * What is a spill? * What environments will this training cover?. * EPA legislation NSW (spills and the environment). * WHS legislation NSW (spills and safety). * Client environmental policy and S.O.P.'s. * Environmental effects of oil on soil, grass, water, ground water, snow, and hard surfaces - concrete, tar etc. * Competency-based quiz. MODULE 2 * Good housekeeping and spills - prevention. * Group discussions on perceived "Work Environment" problem areas. * The "Six Steps" in spill management. * Group discussion on workplace spills. * Tabletop demos - oil spills (on soil) (on water) . * Chemicals spills - what do the participants know?. * Simulated tabletop demos - acid - alkaline and bio-hazard spills. * Workcover - dangerous goods storage. * Requirements for spill stations and kit design. * Waste minimisation and disposal techniques. * Competency-based quiz. MODULE 3 * Containment techniques and protocols..................stormwater drains, water courses/channels, dams etc. * Sorbents and their suitability....demonstration. * Effects of oil spills on W.H.S. * Competency-based quiz. MODULE 4 "Hands On" Oil Spills Outdoor Exercise-s:* Step 1. Discuss exercise. * Step 2. Discuss relevant safety issues. * Step 3. Proceed to exercise. * Step 4. On competition of exercise-s return to classroom, to discuss results and any other matters. * Competency- based quiz (multiple choice). * Manuals discussion: Workshop manual (32pages) and Level 2,2A Reference manual (125 pages). * Issuance of "Certificate of Training" to Participants for recording on their personal record.
